I HAVE A QUESTION FOR YOU GUYS!
How do you normally book your cruises? Do you use the Royal Caribbean website, or a third party site?
I would love to know, seeing as I'm a crew member and never booked a cruise before.
I ususally start at Royal's web site, pick my cabin, and book online, However, if I see that the cabin I want is not available, I will call and most often than not, that cabin is available, so it is a good idea to double check.
Thanks for taking the time to answer everyone's questions. A great thread.

We just got off the Grandeur this morning. Had a wonderful cruise on the "old lady", hope you and your Mom have a great cruise. Our Captain Ante is leaving this ship and I think his second in command ( a woman, yay!) is scheduled to take over. Captain Ante is going to the Brilliance.

I got the beverage package for $41 a day instead of $55! I am good with that.

Thank you!!! I'm so sorry your cruise is over but I'm sure there are more to come. I'm glad you had a good time. What was your favorite part?

The shows, Rock n Roll trivia, rest and relaxation, and horseback riding on beach in Bermuda. Grandeur was also our very first ship in 2005. Since then, we've been on the mega ships, and they are okay, but it was fabulous to be back on the Grandeur. ENJOY!

Have a great time! We are onboard and getting ready to disembark. There was some rockin and rollin but overall a fantastic time! Love love the Grandeur.

What night was formal night? Was there a lot of dress up? Thanks for sharing your experience.

Well excuse my ignorance!!
Sorry, I thought the response to you was a bit harsh especially since you are relatively new to Cruise Critic. I think I started cruising just when it started going the way of quantity over quality, so I was fortunate that I was able to experience a couple of cruises where there were still midnight buffets, chocolates on pillows, etc, etc, so many other things! But I still enjoy RCI and I still love to cruise!

An audience who doesn't know your sarcastic wit could be a lot of fun

I am so gullible. Would be fun.....

Oh boy. I think I may have to cut back on the internet sarcasm.
The casino hours I posted before was a joke. Sorry about that.
Be happy I am a NY Giants fan. Whew!

Well, they have changed the casino hours again. We cruised Grandeur in late March. In previous years the casino opened after dinner on day 1. In March it opened in the morning on day 2. Now day 3!
Not sure if I can stand a whole night and a whole day without going to the casino .
I know!!! My husband will be thrilled though..... me not a all!
-
Due to Virginia law, the casino will not open for the 1st time this trip until day 3 at 2:40 AM and will close for good at 4:10 AM. 90 minutes should give you plenty of time to deplete your precious brats' inheritance.
Whaaaaaaaaaat? really? Doing this one in September - was hoping for more casino time. Thanks for taking us along.

We went horseback riding with Pinetree Stables. Linda and Chris were great hosts. They gave us a great history lesson and we went through the Bahamian forests and the beach. It was definitely an awesome trip. I definitely recommend them if you can do it. It takes about 2 hours. They even took pictures and emailed them to us.
I am looking into doing this! Was this through the ship or did you contact them directly? If so, do they have a shuttle to the stables? Thanks for any information!

Don't let sea sickness ruin your cruise. Get the patches. One lasts for 3 days. After that, you will know if you need to continue depending on seas, etc.! Have fun.

HA HA HA HA>:D :D:D
Merion Mom is the wrong person to have said this to!!!!!!!!!!
What, so now she is #45 and we can no longer comment and have to agree.......

Sounds crazy, but we have never ordered room service!
No spa.
No specialty restaurants.

'Hot, Hot, Hot'
Makes me want to dance.
Ditto!

Pool Deck / Pool Bar. Lots of fun, music, etc.

We heard them on our first cruise and thought they were hilarious and true.... okay call me gullible. Anyway I think it's a hoot for first time cruisers and as someone who has a few cruises under their belt, I still enjoy them!

This happened to us on the Anthem as well last December. We requested 6-8 top which we had no problem secuing on every other cruise. However, on our first night on Anthen at the Grande we were seated a table for 2, inches away from another table of 2... a young Mom and her 8-10 year old daughter. It was pretty uncomfortable and felt awkward. My husband and I left the dining room without eating, saw the maitre'd who was upset that we were disapponted and assured us that they would make different arrangements the next evening and rest of cruise. Sure enough, we received a call the next day that we would be seated with two other couples who did not know each other prior to the cruise and also about our ages, so it all turned out well. Great time with them.
So, my suggestion would be to always make your feelings known and hopefully any issue will be resolved. Also, since then, I have contacted RC twice already about our next cruise making sure they had us at a large table in April. I love my husband, but really enjoy meeting and getting to know other people too! I think he likes the break from me, too :D

OP, fortunately this has only happened to me one time... also on our Allure cruise and yes, it is hard to realize that your same cabin is going for so much less. I had to bite the bullet and just said *** and move on... you will have a great cruise I am sure.
To the people who say why keep checking. I don't.. I found out on my roll call. Wish I had never known!

Well, back on Explorer in 2007, we loved that everyone welcomed you by name, clapped hands, and all that. Made it a fun atmosphere and the food was awesome.. I don't think we had that same type of experience since, so not a fan of that venue anymore unfortunately. I know sounds corny, but RCI should keep some traditions..............
-
Yes, others have reported varying lists of beverage packages on their Cruise Planner. Just keep checking periodically.
Thanks!
-
But, I am not seeing the alcohol beverage packages at all on My Cruises... only see the non. Has been this way for a while now. Anyone else have this issue?

I can book non-alcoholic packages, but the others do not show up for me. Sailing April 2017
U.S. Passport ID card okay for Barbados?
in Barbados

I tried to do a search, but could not find anything. We are cruising to Barbados early next year. We have U.S. Passport ID cards. Is that okay or do we need the full passport book? Thanks in advance!
