Did you click on each of your other bids?  You have to click where it says upgrade type (the room)

You are a genius.  I wasn't doing that.  Just saw that I could change the top one and the others said pending and I got ALL excited. lol  Oops.  Yes you are correct if i pick the others they then populate to the top and I can modify.  Whomp Whomp (sad trombone) lol

  2. Just got off the last sailing on the Harmony.  We did the Royal up bid and ended up with a 2 bedroom grand suite!  LOVED the suite perks.  Now booked on Navigator of the seas and was wondering what the perks are on that ship.  I see they don't have coastal kitchen - is there still a suite lounge?  Is there a special area by the pool for suite guests?  I would appreciate any help you could pass my way.  thanks!

  3. We will be sailing this Sunday in a 2 bedroom sky class suite.  It mentioned that there are certain activities that are only for suite members and it shows someone on the surfing/wave thing.  Anyone know what these are referring to?  I read somewhere that it's ship tours etc but can't seem to find it anymore.

    Thanks!

Not sure what you mean but bids can be accepted at any time (likely to happen during Miami business hours). The cc being charged seems to come about a day after the winning e-mail.

WHOAH!  What?  A day after?  I've been reading it comes out before!  Ok then there's hope. lol  When I go to the royal up bid page I tried bidding on another room that we had not bid on (we bid on 4 of the 5) and it won't let me.  Gives me a "we're sorry but you can't do that now".  I CAN adjust the price of the current 4 bids though.

  5. Thank you all for your thoughts on this situation.  I was able to talk my mom down last night after she spoke to their doctor.  The doc told her "I've told you since he (husband/dad) has gotten sick to avoid busy enclosed spaces... which would be like a cruise.  HOWEVER - that's also like a grocery store, costco, etc.  So I am not going to tell you not to go on the cruise."  We have convinced her to come along on the cruise!!!  So happy - as is my 9 year old that was looking forward to spending quality time with her grandma.  Thank you guys again for all your info - It was used to help dispel the misinfo that she was thinking.

  6. Update on worried mom - So I squelched her initial fears and now she is just "making sure it'll be ok".  Interestingly enough her primary concern was my grandmother and the quarantine - even though my father is slightly immune compromised. lol  So now she is focused on that.  They have cruised several times since he has been diagnosed and have always been OVERLY vigilant about disinfection, handwashing, etc and have been ok.  They had a dr. appt today and will be talking to the dr about his thoughts on "allowing" dad to travel on a cruise (i know i know - even though they've done it tons of times before).  So fingers crossed this dr. isn't an anti-cruise fear monger. lol

I always bring a corkscrew onboard the ship, no problem.

However, be careful if you are flying with one. Check your airline.
Back in the day, I had one in my carry on  at Heathrow, and they took it away from me.

Now, I make sure it is in my checked luggage.

I borrowed my husband's suitcase (carry on) that he used on his last work trip (driving) when I flew last.  I got stopped by security.  They asked if I had anything sharp - I was like NOPE.  Then proceeded to tear apart my bag... the dumb corkscrew had ripped the inside lining of the little zipper pack and was INSIDE UNDER the lining.  I felt so stupid - I don't even drink wine!  I could have killed him.

We're on the same Cruise, In laws are already forfeiting their money and canceling (they didn't buy travel insurance). We will not try to convince them to go any further.

HA! If it were mine I wouldn't either. HAHAHAHAHA

I understand that she is freaking out.  It is her option to cancel and there is nothing you can do about it.  However, in the meantime, honor her reasoning and decision but I do hope that you are still going.

Yes we are still going (my husband, myself, and my 9 year old).  I sent her a message after reading everyone's posts about being realistic with the threat but that I'd understand if she ultimately cancels and hope that she changes the cruise vacation to another one bc she needs time to decompress and relax.

OP, it's hard when someone is already anxious to get through to them with reason.  Can you offer a back up plan in case there is an unforeseen delay, like someone on call to check on your grandmother?  (obviously, there won't be quarantine, but sometimes it helps to address the fear, no matter how unrealistic)

She makes it sound like my grandmother is on an island all alone.  She's in capable hands and although she doesn't speak the language she's been in this home now for about 5 years and does well as the nurses/staff all know her and her communication trends.  She has dementia so my mother goes to visit her daily - I told my mom that one of her friends (who also speaks Portuguese) could go visit her if that would make her comfortable.  It didn't help.

Suggest to your mother that she stop watching the news but if she insists on watching buy her an atlas so she can see that the major issues are not even in this hemisphere.  As others have suggested wash hands frequently with soap and water and use the paper towel to open restroom door.  Just sailed Harmony in November and she is an awesome ship.  I also seldom if ever eat at the Windjammer when cruising as I don't know who touched the food/spoons/glasses.  Have seen people pick up cookies/bread and then put them back down in container.  At least the employees wear gloves when they touch food.  I also hear on news that flu is rampant in USA so I guess she does not go to grocery store or other public place.  She probably has a better chance of catching the flu when visiting the nursing home.  Tell her to relax and live and enjoy life.

Here's the funniest thing I've ever heard from my mom - "I don't watch the news bc all they do is not post things.  They don't tell the full story bc THEY DONT WANT TO SCARE THE PUBLIC".  I'm like "mom - seriously - they salivate over a story like this to fear monger the viewers.  They love a story that scares people so if anything they are making it MORE than it is.

Oh and you've just convinced me never to eat at Windjammer lol

  9. So my mom is freaking out about our cruise on Harmony out of Port Canaveral on March 8 - going to the eastern Caribbean.  She is worried that we will be quarantined as she keeps hearing everything on the news about the people being stuck and unable to get off the ship for a few days/weeks.  I am trying to explain that the boats affected were out of asian cruises and that Harmony has only been to and from US/Caribbean.  Am I wrong?  She purchased the insurance but I'm also trying to explain that she may not get her money back as the insurance is if you get sick and have to cancel - not if you just decide not to go.  Hoping someone can shed light on this.  She needs a break - she has been so stressed out with work etc - but now this is keeping her up at night as she is afraid.  Again I tried to explain that if anything the washy-washy people will be out in full force as they will be hyper vigilant about prevention.  Am I wrong on my points?  Thoughts?  Anyone else freaking out like this?

  10. Hey all!  Cruising on a March 8 and doing some amazon shopping today for things that are must bring items. Was curious as to what hacks you guys suggest - such as over door hangers, magnet hooks etc. traveling with my husband and 9 year old daughter 🙂. Thanks guys!  You e am been a wealth of info!

  11. Whew thanks guys. This makes me feel a ton better. It was a gty room and we bid on a few upgrades but being a sold out ship I’m not holding my breath (and have realized I wouldn’t have been able to switch to another floor anyways). But now with all the positive reviews I’m thrilled to be on deck six. Thanks guys!  Maybe having the gym down the hall will make me at least THINK of going! Hahaha
