The ship was beautiful, the staff remarkable and the food wonderful. The only exception to us was that the food in the Cosmo dining room - it was not very good in our opinion. It may have just been an off night as Celebrity usually has great food.
We only caught the Caravan, Crystallized and the comedian (Ralph Harris) shows but all were fantastic!
We did really enjoy the casino every night and it was full of people but many did miss the craps table and let management know. Hopefully it was a one-off.

We were on Apex also 2-12 To 2-19 and played $10 min blackjack every night tho we were told by an employee that craps were not open due to too few people. The ship had about 1500 on board and we didn’t see a shortage of crew there for passengers there. We were told they had 60% crew staffed. I think as more board the ship each week they will open more tables/games.

Mitsugirly - wonderful photos!!!

I'm not sure if you already traveled or not. We were on the Majesty in October 2018 - Spacious Ocean View, Cabin 9074. Here is a photo from the window. Looking out the window, it wasn't a big issue as you can see off in the distance and enjoy the view despite the lifeboat. I hope you have a great trip!

We’ve enjoyed different cabins. Of course the great sleep you get in the inside cabins is awesome. One thing I haven’t seen mentioned that I like about them is that the ones we’ve had have been cooler. If your cruise is in the tropics, this may be more important. Often cabins with balconies get warm even if you keep the curtains closed, but the interior cabins we’ve had stay very comfy and cool.
I also agree...any cabin on a ship is better than a day at home or work. 😁
Happy Cruising!!!

Thanks everyone for all your information!!!

Oasis next weekend is our next cruise....TIA

Thanks for the reply! Seems a bit odd, but guess they have their reasons. Last RCCI cruise we were on was in Oct 2018 and it was still the old cards/way. I appreciate finding this heads-up!! Love the CC boards and the folks that make it great!!!

I haven’t seen this info before. If they leave your sea pass card in the cabin, how do you get into your cabin (as you always used them to get inside)?

We were on the Solstice 5/25-6/1, 2018 and the Captain was Yannis Berdos. He did a fabulous job and had a great sense of humor! We always looked forward to his announcements or running into him around the ship.

SHIP: Solstice
CABIN #: 1667
DECK #: Penthouse
CLASS: S2
AREA: Aft
BED NEAR: Bathroom
QUIET?: Very quiet!
BALCONY VIEW: Aft - Port
BALCONY SIZE: 79"

SOOT A PROBLEM?: No
PROBLEMS/COMMENTS:Wonderful cabin! It was very quiet, at the end and just off center with the hallway. The view from the balcony was amazing!! Would book this cabin again in a heartbeat! Large bathroom with tub and rain-shower head, shampoo, conditioner, soap, lotion, cotton balls, q-tips, umbrellas in room (3 sizes), tons of storage space, bed is super comfy, lighted makeup mirror, small binoculars, 2 standard outlets, robes and slippers, hair dryer.... (trying to remember all that's in there)... just an excellent room!

We were on the May 25-Jun1 sailing of the Solstice this year. We did the Mendenhall Glacier tour.
When you leave the ship in Juneau, there is a line to take a bus ($5 per person to ride all day) to the area where you are picked up for excursions. It's a large parking area (Mt Roberts Tramway) with many booths to sign up for excursions and many folks holding up signs for already booked excursions. You find your sign/line and wait here for your shuttle to pick you up.
I'd guess the ride to the glacier may have taken 20 minutes or so. We were told the glacier park only allows the visitors from the shuttle to stay one hour, then the shuttles must pick them up and leave (giving 10 min grace at most). This did make it difficult to fully enjoy the visit since it's a good 3/4 to 1 mile hike to get up close to the glacier and waterfall. You can see the glacier very well from the parking lot though if you didn't want to do the hike.
On the drive to the glacier, off to the right side of the road is a small area where bald eagles congregate. It was incredible to see so many of them grouped together in the wild.
Once we were back on the shuttle for our return trip, we were offered drop off points: town/shopping area, parking lot where we were picked up, or the port where our ship was docked. So you do have options coming back as far as where you want to stop. The area where we docked didn't look to give a good way to walk to/from town.
The trip to Mendenhall Glacier is well worth it. It's absolutely beautiful! Our shuttle also drove around town a bit and to an overlook for us to take photos of the docking area where the ships were. Our driver/guide was very informative about the town as he lived there all his life. We enjoyed it! We booked this excursion through our travel agent. They used Last Chance Tours for this excursion who did a great job!

If you are suite class, Luminae has them on the breakfast menu every day.

Thanks for the heads up, just called to upgrade our included Classic package to Premium while there’s only a $10/day difference.

Do you have the # to call them? Their site has tons of numbers, none of which list for adding/upgrading packages. We also planned to upgrade from Classic to Premium.
TIA!

We were in a standard balcony stateroom on the previous sailing (Honolulu to Vancouver) and were given umbrellas the night before arriving Victoria as rain was forecast. And they were used, too!
Thank you for the reply! I love Cruise Critic - a wealth of information and friendly folks!! <3

Wow, quick reply! Thanks so much!! :)

Thanks for the review and photos!! Love them!
Can you tell me if they have umbrellas provided for use? And if so, are you able to use them off the ship as well?
Have a great trip!!

I took the Solstice Alaska cruise last year with a very complete review including photos of all the public areas, along with menus. This could answer some of your questions. The link to the review is in my signature.

Thank you for such an amazing review of your Alaska cruise! The link in your signature provided so much information! You gave great descriptions, links to menus, dailies, lots of photos... it was better than getting a book on the cruise and its ports. Thank you for that hard work!! I'd recommend anyone looking for information on this cruise/ports take a look at your page.
Thanks again!

Just off Oasis today. We were walking through Central Park admiring the beautiful plants our first day and saw an older teen boy eating an apple. He spit out what looked to be a wad of apple skin into his hand and proceeded to toss it into the plants by the Rising Tide bar before continuing on with his folks!!!

Hey MMM, can you post a link to the Celebrity cruise review you did? I can't locate it and would love to read what you posted! LOVE your humor. I'm one of the readers that read all the posts in one sitting! lol.... you write wonderfully!

Thank you for the replies!

Thanks!! That answers it.
I do have a high powered battery pack charger that charges up to 3 devices I can take. I also have a USB charging hub that has 6 ports. It almost sounded like they had a pad to just drop them on and I was curious as most of those only charge either iOS or Androids.
Again I appreciate your time and information!

I know this was a serious post and it's nice for the serious answers but this was hilarious reading! LOVE the post about someone carrying a chair down the stairs to their room. Wow! LOL

They may be old rants but I enjoyed reading it. Update their site and be honest.. I agree completely! It also reminded me to buy new luggage tag covers for my cruise in May!! So thanks :)
I'm having lots of trouble here on our Edge cruise to the Southern Caribbean...

Love this post and replies! We’ll be on this cruise March 17th and can’t wait 😊
Could you please tell me which cruise nights are the chic nights? Trying to determine specialty dining reservations.
Thanks in advance! I hope things continue to disappoint in the same way😃 🍸🍸
