Can anyone tell me which is on the Reflection?   Thank you.

Qsine began the rollout of LPC first this past April and have continued. The location is the same as Qsine in the Specialty Dining area on Deck 5.  There are two seating as everyone is to experience LPC at the same time.

I thought I should post an update. As noted earlier... the charger on our scooter did not work. To be honest we did not enjoy the cruise as much as we should have because for half the trip we worried the scooter would die on us. That limited our travels around the ship... paying more attention to the types of scooters passing by than on what was going on on the ship. I reached out to special needs at sea to see if they had any ideas... but since there were not extra chargers... they were out of ideas.  When we got home special needs at sea reached out to us... the credited us for about 3 days use... and we will get a discount on next rental. After a letter to Celebrity... (suggesting that they keep some supplies on board.. eg a few extra chargers for different brands carried by the companies they generally work with.....) we got a nice call and they are giving us OBC on a future cruise. Both handled this professionally BUT... I hope the two will work together to develop a plan to keep this from happening in the future.  This was early on in Edges life so I hope that this was not something considered... I hope other ships have supplies on board. Anyway... that is where we stand

You can purchase a variety of mobility scooters for a couple of weeks of "rental" rates.  The airlines transfer them as a mobility device just as they would a w/chair, walker etc. In other words..."no fee")  A good place to begin looking at them is Amazon to compare issues such as wt capacity, speed, how far they can go on a full battery, turning radius and other things you wonder about...and of course, the price!

Our cruise over the holidays (just last month) were ages 3-5 for one group, 6-9 for another, 10-12 for the next, and then the teens' club, 13-17.  It may depend on the breakdown of the kids' ages on your cruise?  For instance, on a Celebrity cruise many years ago, there were less than 20 kids under the age of 12 onboard so they grouped everyone together pretty much.

    HTH!

    Linda

Ours is a 9-night cruise that involves a week and a Friday out of school.  Not too bad, so hoping for a couple dozen kids or more...enough to divide up without the ship being over-run.  Sailing during holidays and spring break is not my preference...and parents are willing to take them out as they are all in honors classes.  I understand that makes us doubly fortunate and do appreciate it!

Thanks for all your input.  I will explain to them in advance that their groups will depend on # of kids on board that register!  At least the 13 yo will likely be in the older group...because that is such a strange age...are they a kid or a young adult? (she would like to be option B...most of the time) LOL

    Re: Lobster in Murano...

It has taken me several "reads" to realize that if the "Lobster Spit" in Murano is a $39 upcharge...does that mean they no longer do tableside lobster prep (Complimentary/included in fee for dining in Murano)?

If the only lobster available is the "Split" for a fee...is it simply a split "warm water lobster tail" or is it a Split Maine "Cold Water" lobster?

In the past, there have been a variety of entrees that I "appreciate" in Murano, but my DD is not a fan of fish (except shellfish)...so don't want to book us for 3 nights in Murano, and then find out there are no "included" entrees that she likes.

She does like beef. Is Chateaubriand still available if shared by 2?

Your information has been so helpful in us "fine tuning" several plans and I greatly appreciate your efforts!

  5. Good Evening everyone. So it is 2:30am here. I suppose 3:30am with the time change. I’ll be up at my normal pool bar time don’t worry and I will answer all your questions! I made a nice donation to the casino. I’m thinking of all of you to help keep your cruise costs low! Haha...

LOL...and I thought you might be a late night Black Jack contender!:ship: :o

  6. ChicagoPaul,

I have a question about beverages in Le Petite Chef. Is the wine menu just that one page...or are those the "Special Le Petite Chef" featured wines? We have the Premium Bev Pkg...yet only 1 red & 1 white offered by the glass. Did you just buy a bottle...or bring a bottle with you? Or were there other wines from their "Classic" Celebrity list to select from? We are not "wine snobs" but there are some things we don't care for...

Your reviews have been immensely helpful. Appreciate in advice any additional insight you could offer.:)

Likely we will meet @ the Blackjack table, although not a fan of "single deck".

  7. I really appreciate all the info, photos, critiques of food and bar services and staff in general. Looking forward to meeting you April 27th @ Sail Away...Sunset Bar~:p

I did not see any wines by the glass on the menus for "La Petite Chef". Are there any available...or only by the bottle?

Good news that the room service fee is only for late night and very early morning:D Thank you for clarifying that as the App does not mention the time criteria!!! Yikes!

While I did not ever notice you posting on the Roll Call, I did add your names to our RC Spreadsheet on our cruise's WIX Website.

  8. Thanks for all the great updates and photos. Nothing beats Transatlantics!

I noticed a number of differences between the Tuscan menu posted on the app and the one you were presented with. On the app it lists two Prime NY Strip steaks (9 oz and 18 oz) neither with any up charge, on your menu only a 16 oz for $15 up charge. Roasted Beef Ribeye on the App is 10 oz, but 14 on your menu! Grilled Skirt Steak 16 oz on your menu, 12 oz on the App. In the seafood department, Awordfish Acqua Pazza on the App but not on your menu. In the pastas, Frutti Di Mare Rigatoni on the App but not on your menu. On the other hand, the three meat lasagna on your menu, but not on the App.

So I wonder if there are in fact two different menus used (rotated between different ships?) or the App menu is simply outdated. We'll be on Solstice later this month and I'd like to try the Frutti Di Mare listed on the App, but I won't get my hopes up since it didn't appear on your menu.

I decided the apps dining choices are likely incorrect...since it listed Bistro on 5...But that was converted to a Sushi Restaurant a few YEARS ago!

  9. There is a "Special Needs" form for all RCCL ships. You can indicate you are bringing CPAP and ship will have distilled water and allow a power strip and extension cord (heavy duty, safe of frays etc(....or ship can provide)

When flying, place CPAP, mask etc plus power strip & extension cord in CPAP case to carry on the plane as an exempt item. Also, international plus converters can go in there if you are traveling internationally. Saves you weight in your checked bags.

  10. Just another positive vote for Woodford Cars. We have used them on several trips from LHR to Southampton. And one from LHR to Windsor (for 3 nights)...then onto Southampton for cruise. And always for return trip from port back to airport.

They are a small but very customer focused company. Our very first encounter with them convinced me they were a company that would go "Over and above" our private transfer agreement. We were 4 adults traveling together and one adult had medical problem as we were deplaning and was taken to the hospital by ambulance. None of us could go with him since we had not cleared customs/immigration. (Neither had the patient but security took possession of his passport)

Anyway, we were late getting our luggage and clearing customs. But there was our driver with a worried look as we approached him....very relieved that he was still waiting. We had not even called him (brains other places!) He helped us get all of the luggage into the vehicle and asked the patient's wife what she needed to bring with her to the hospital? A quick repack of one carry on to make sure she had items patient would need plus electrical plus adapters and charging cord for iPhone, iPad....not knowing what she would learn by the time she arrived at the hospital. He drove to the hospital name provided by the ambulance staff before they left LHR. Took her to ER and dropped her off with the carry on and her handbag. The other couple and all the luggage were taken (now much later than scheduled) to their downtown hotel. And the driver helped them into the hotel with ALL the luggage.

OVER and Above service...yes indeed! And Also Cheryl is a "peach" to communicate with....prompt, patient, kind...always confirms info or answers and questions!.

  11. I want to thank EACH of you that responded to my questions. Your thoughts and suggestions are very helpful.

I FOR SURE am NOT placing the dialysis boxes of fluids on the balcony!

My Dialysis RN Educator assured me that airlines must allow me to have my cycler inside the cabin of the plane and not handled with checked luggage. While it is LARGER than normally permitted carry-on luggage, it is much too fragile to check. It is essential LIFE SAVING Equipment and therefore the rules are waived with proper communication with the airline according to their guidelines and documentation by physician Completed form...and I will also copies of that plus carry a letter for TSA etc.

IF patients are working with Baxter equipment....you can now get a harder shelled ROLLING container to further protect the cycler. Certainly much more mobile friendly, It will not fit in the overhead bin nor under the seat on floor....but she assured me that the flight attendents do have a closet to store such items on the plane. You can also have (in the case) 24 hours worth of fluids, tubing, antibacterial wipes, mask, tape etc that you would need on short notice.

We don't currently have an accessible cabin. And there are no suites available. (My acute renal failure was recent...and PD Cath placement VERY recent). But WILL be working with Celebrity & my TA to be waitlisted for accessible cabins. I just want to make sure the PD all "works" before I stir things up. SO I am in the serious "information gathering phase" as I heal and hope. It gives me feeling of progress. Thank you for your help and kindness!

  12. I also have questions regarding PD on ship. We are scheduled for European cruise in August. It has been booked for over a year even though I just began dialysis in 2017. Trying to determine what I CAN do.

We have a verandah cabin, but no suite. Since we will be in our European cruise departure city for 4 night pre-cruise...then need enough dialysis solution for an additional 2 weeks. Thinking it might be easiest to have fluid/splutions bags in boxes delivered to our hotel room. Then we would have some to use for the first four days....and to verify all supplies we did actually arrived. Thinking of wrapping sets of boxes with strong packing tape and sticking a luggage tag and a cruise tag on each for delivery to our cabin. Would then hand over to our dockside porters with our luggage. Opinions on this ideas???

Since our cabin in not huge...and we have all that DP fluid to store....wondered about keeping it out on our deck/balcony and wrapping in plastic (something like painter drops cloths and more sturdy tape) Our destinations and time of year are not a concern of fluid freezing.

Do we need "permission" from the cruise line to travel while doing PD on board...or just complete the "Special Needs Forms"? (Cruise is on Celebrity.) I know they can supply containers for sharps disposal and dressing and tubing "red bags" for disposal. I am a RN so understand the processes and safety guideline for land in the USA. But don't know about difference @ sea and international waters (ships disposal systems etc)

Also, how does one best transport the "cycler" machine on an international flight? On a US flight it could be considered "medical equipment" and not "count" toward our luggage limits. We fortunately have direct flights on KLM to AMS. I really want to take the "cycler" in some sort of a case ON the plane with us so I know that it is handled gently and safely. Has anyone done this?

That's the first round of questions that are swimming around in my head and waking me at night. This trip is very important to us...and having to go on dialysis is bad enough. But it will break my heart if we can't do this cruise.

TIA for ANY answers you may have. BTW, my cruise is NOT one that Dialysis @ Sea offers support for...so that is not an option.

  13. How do you get a price alert?

    Thanks!

There are several "cruise fare monitoring sites". Google should be helpful in your search. We are not allowed to post these on Cruise Critics. It would be a bit "fishy".;) :):D:p

The one I use charges $1.00 (yes, one dollar) per cruise monitored. It's a WHALE of a deal!:p

  14. My largest two "short term price reductions" were @ 11 mo pre-cruise and 15 mo pre-cruise...so clearly not "last minute" sales.

One was just after midnight and gone by 8AM same day. I saved about 45% and kept same perks and cabin. Assume this was an IT error by X because the first two digits of the price we reversed on the price...to my huge advantage.

The other was daytime...aprox. 9:30am to 11:30am. Saved about 30%. But not same cabin. Was in 1A, new cabin 1B. (same perks) I can live with a bit smaller balcony on a port intensive cruise (and save about $2800/cabin) It was just prior to a BOGO price "sale". Looks like X changed to lower price on the 2nd person in the cabin (before it actually increased the price for first ... as the Shell Game typically is done)

    Keep monitoring your prices!

  15. Well written review .We also sailed on this cruise . Unfortunately I came down with acute bronchitis . Never got off the ship ,saw only 2 shows ,went from dining room back to cabin coughing vigorously .

Had gone to the Infirmary early on the cruise for treatment ,Had many tests including chest X Rays to rule out pneumonia . Unfortunately & I asked they didn't think I need inhalation therapy ( had same condition years back on a Celebrity ship & was given inhalation therapy twice daily --made a huge difference ) .Doctor prescribed 875 MG amoxicillin . Staff is completely South African nurses & doctor .Bill was $718.

When in Anchorage we went to Urgent Care & saw a very thorough American doctor .He immediately put me on inhalation therapy & prescribed meds which cost $452 at Costco pharmacy . Missed going to Denali & stayed at the Anchorage Homewood suites 6 nights recovering . Thanks to their great breakfast & dinners Mondays thru Thursdays ,it made our stay more enjoyable .We did get to see the Anchorage Museum .

This was our 5th cruise & land trip to Alaska .We had been to all the ports on past cruises & Denali when I was able to take photos of the north & South summit with no clouds .Perfectly clear . So we were knowledgeable about what I missed in total . My DW did manage to visit each port while I stayed in the stateroom .

I have a inquiry with the office of the President with Celebrity in Miami as to the effectiveness of the medical staff on this sailing .Celebrity hires the medical staff as independent contractors ,yet are responsible for their activities . I think that Celebrity should give some pay back either in credit car credits or future cruise on board credit . We are booked on the Oct 1 ,2017 Coastal west coast cruise on Infiniti .(a much warmer climate )

You should be able to recoup your medical charges on ship & land during your trip through your travel insurance...they can also help with compensating for cruise excursions you missed due to illness and were not cancelable.

  16. On my most recent cruise, my plug adapter was confiscated at embarkation. The person who confiscated it said that no extension cords were allowed. It wasn't an extension cord. It was about 3" long. Never happened on previous cruises. It was my 5th cruise this year on Celebrity. Need it for my CPAP machine. I was outraged. After we sailed, I went to security. After much explanation, it was returned. I always preorder distilled water and an extension cord to be in my cabin to be used with the CPAP. I think that the staff on the dock did not know what they were doing. Absolutely outrageous.

People who travel with a CPAP often need a power strip in hotel room...so it is perfectly logical that you travel with one.

Just a reminder for those with CPAPs. Complete Celebrity's "Special Needs" form prior to sailing and you needs will be met more smoothly. By the time we get to our cabin...the extension cord and distilled water are already in the room. The room steward will run the cords and get you set up.

  17. Thank you for posting about Millie's refurb/refresh.

Was hoping they were not changing Bistro on 5 to Sushi on 5 as they did on Reflection in Feb. We ate lunch at "The Porch" on Reflection. Does not seem that there are other "Specialty dining" lunch venues except for Sushi.

  18. I found it and it was easier than I thought. This information is directly from Celebrity. Please check back in on this thread and let us know their determination.

    Partial Cruises/Down-line Embarkation:

All requests for down-line embarkation or early disembarkation must be submitted in writing for consideration at least one week prior to voyage commencement date.

    Send all requests to emergencyteam@celebritycruises.com.

Information Needed to Process Request: All guests must have a confirmed booking in order for the Emergency Travel Team to process a down-line request.

    •Guest's First and Last Name(s)

    •Ship and Sail Date

    •Booking Number

    •Stateroom Number

•Location (port) to Embark / Disembark

    •Date to Embark / Disembark

    •Return e-mail or fax number

Yes, my TA did locate this...but when he spoke with Celebrity he was told that was just for EMERGENCY Travel....and NOT for a planned voluntary event.

Otherwise it is up to the Captain to allow us to be off the ship and rejoin in another port.

Can it really be this difficult???

  19. There is a place to write in to Celebrity to tell them of your intentions ahead of time. I will search for it and if I am successful, will come back to this post to let you know the particulars. I am only writing this comment so I can find your post again. This should be doable. The only concern I would have for you is if they need to skip the re-embarkation port for some unforeseen circumstance. It does happen once in awhile. Eg: we skipped Sydney in Nova Scotia once due to high winds. They had to alter the itinerary and we never made it to that port of call. It may not be risk you are willing to take??

Anyhow, I will look for that information and post it here if I find it.

I feel fairly confident that Celebrity will be able to make it to Edinburgh since the main reason many are selecting this itinerary is to attend the Edinburgh Military Tattoo at the entrance to Edinburgh Castle.

However...if something unusual should occur. The Next port is a ferry ride away to Belfast, Northern Ireland....and then 2 more days in Ireland.

We do carry two types of travel insurance also. Yes, a risk I am willing to take. Walking out the front door has risks. We will be in a civilized country and I make a Plan B & C for our travels.

    Thanks again.

  20. I am the OP with the question. The first port after sailing from Amsterdam and having a sea day will the in northern Scotland near Inverness/Loch Ness. Then the ship sails to Edinburgh, Scotland for two days (an overnight).

Our hope is to have our friends pick us up near Inverness with overnight bags. We would spend 2 nights with them and then take the morning train to Edinburgh. Lunch with other cruise friend who live nearer Edinburgh. Ship sails @ 6PM.

We are US citizens with passports & Global Access. We are Elite on Celebrity but the only time I am aware of anyone Planning an overnight off the ship was when the ship was staying in port overnight.

I do not want the staff on Celebrity to worry about us that we have come to some harm and list us as "missing".

IMO we should be able to do "paperwork" way ahead to inform Celebrity that we will be off the ship for two nights & provide dates & locations. Why should we need to "accidentally miss the ship" to accomplish this???

We did consider flying post cruise from AMS to Glasgow, Scotland....but is is several hundred dollars each more + having to store some luggage in AMS. So many logistics we wish to avoid.

We are not sailing until summer 2017 but will want to purchase air tickets within the next few months....and I need to know before then.

Thanks for any assistance you can provide. My experience with Cruise Critics is someone always knows!:D

Scotland offers a lot but is only 2/3 the size of the state of Iowa....so driving or taking a train cross country is NO problem!
