I do, we were there in Jan 2023. It was with Patrick Watts. Adventure Falklands Great time. There may be shorter ways to see penguins, but I do not know if the scope of view is as encompassing or majestic. 3 kinds of penguins, ocean view, if you go in season baby chicks. and a fun cross-country bumpy ride. The stop for baked goods was fun. The provided box lunch I could live without. But, otherwise, a fantastic day.

    Thank you!

The very best is the Falklands, if you actually port there.  We were lucky enough to make it and enjoyed a fabulous day with an independent tour.  Be prepared for probably the roughest ride of your life to get to the King penguins.

We also took a tour to see the penguin colonies in Puerto Madryn.  That was very nice too, seeing a lot of the smaller penguins.

Do you remember who you booked with in the Falklands? Thank you!

We went around the horn on the Celebrity Eclipse from San Antonio to Buenos Aires in January 2019. We actually flew into Santiago Chile, and then flew over to Easter Island for three days of touring with Eastern Island Travel prior to the cruise. That was an exceptional bucket list pre-cruise adventure!

We arranged independent tours in most ports with folks on our cruise critic rollcall.

Since it was before Covid, some of these vendors might not be in business now, so you would have to check TripAdvisor and their websites, but here’s who we used:
Santiago to San Antonio- i SA Van transport.
    Puerto Montt- Puerto Montt Excursiones.
Punta Arenas – DIY with taxi to Nao Victoria Museum, and walking.
Ushuaia – Tierra Turismo for Tierra del Fuego National Park trek. Then DIY walk to the End of World prison and the Maritime Museum.
Puerto Madryn- Sentir Patagonia for Punto Tombo penguin colony.
Punta del Este – we were scheduled with Bike Tours Uruguay for the peninsula tour, but our stop was canceled due to weather. However, we have re-booked with her for December.
    Montevideo – Uruguias.
Buenos Aires – BA Bikes for north tour in the morning, and south tour in the afternoon.
The day of disembarkation, we took the ship’s Tigre and Delta River Cruise tour with the drop off at EZE.

All the tours were wonderful. We were glad we went in January. It was cold and rainy (raincoat & layers) in Ushuaia, but nice weather (mostly T shirts and capris/shorts, with light jackets just in case) everywhere else. And we were glad that we went counter clockwise, so we could visit Easter Island while we were fresh.
Hope this is helpful. Good luck, and Enjoy!

Thank you! This is great information!

The science and the results of cruising in Europe point to no reason to continue the ban on cruising. The only objection to cruising are strictly political, and to continue the ban will create irreputable financial harm to the cruise companies, the suppliers, the ports, and most important harm to the people that work in the industry.

I wish I could press the button and play the Jeopardy Jingle for 20 seconds and we would have the answer from the CDC.

    What ports?

Is the quarantine on the Princess Corona farm still supposed to end on the 19th?

Now they are talking about testing people in 3 or 4 days, and it will take 3 days for results. These would not be the Americans who are leaving tomorrow. So that would extend it to at least the 21st.

  6. OP, eat at ports of call. That’s the best way to get authentic food. The food you are eating on Carnival is not very adventurous- not very good any more overall. The “port of call” offering is usually terrible. It’s a real shame because the food used to be very good,

  7. We did the same thing, took a 15 day B2B to turn Platinum. We were Platinum on both cruises, even though we didn’t technically turn Platinum until the last day of the second cruise. I was shocked when the priority luggage tags showed up. It may be because I asked my TA to give Carnival the head’s up. So if you do book, advise your TA or PVP or call Carnival. It might work.

  8. Leaving on Dream this morning. Found a great hotel, I’m amazed how terrific it is. Holiday Inn Superdome. It’s right in the middle of the action, lots to do and see. Beds are incredibly comfortable, room is huge. Staff is over the top friendly. $224 a night including all taxes and fees, and that includes 8 days of covered (safe) parking in a ramp. Quick walk to Bourbon street. No transportation to port but I hate being jammed in to a shuttle van anyway. Uber will be less than ten minutes to port. Very very welcome place to see after an 18 hour drive from Buffalo! Omg 😮

Just FYI. Wish me luck, I’m off with my 20 year old and his girlfriend. Close quarters in a cove balcony.

  9. Replying to you right now from my hotel bed :). Holiday Inn Superdome is fantastic, I just signed on to post about it. $224 a night, tax included, for beautiful room with incredible beds and 8 days parking. 25 minute walk to port, I get that that is a bit much but we are taking an Uber. Just FYI in case you’re driving in. The Uber to the port is under ten minutes.

  10. Please tell me they are going to list more excursions as it gets closer to the “270 days prior to sailing” window? The excursions listed now are all pretty bad. I think there is only one listed for St Petersburg and we are there two days.

  11. Thanks so much for your report! Making us excited for our B2B on the Magic in October. Looking forward to hearing more about your cruise. :D

I just finished a B2B, including the sailing the OP is talking about. It was great until it was just a bit too much. Had a great time but it was crowded, especially the second voyage. You'll have a great time in October.

  12. I'm sorry, I don't know anything about the shows. I don't go to them. I'm sure they're in the random Fun Times I have lying around the room but I've thrown most of them out so I'm not sure.

    Cucina free for lunch: yes.

There doesn't appear to be a kid free hot tub but I could be wrong. However, despite children being allowed in the aft pool now, I haven't seen any there throughout both cruises.

Gave up on comedy shows throughout both cruises.

Late night deck parties have been awesome!

I had bitter and blanc on the first cruise, haven't seen it yet on the 8 day but we've been in port a lot so we've eaten at the Lido and Cucina. Going to hit up the steakhouse again. One night we went down for ATD at 5:45. The line was God awful, went all the way around the atrium and down one hallway. No way were we getting in that line; even if it moved quickly once the doors were open the kitchen and wat staff would be slammed. So we went upstairs. Honestly the Lido has better food anyway, but obviously you don't get the dining room experience.

We have had some great excursions! All Carnival this time. Catamaran sail and snorkel in Grand Turk, Big 3 in Amber Cove, and yesterday's ATV Rainforest Adventure in San Juan was awesome! Today another Cat sail and snorkel in St. Kitts.

  13. Do you have to put your S&S card in the slot for lights to stay on for the Magic?

Thanks for all the responses about lunch :-)

When we came in here someone had a paper card, ripped, jammed into the slot. We've kept it in there ever since. So it doesn't even have to be a credit card-type thing. If I were you I'd use a rewards card from a store. Just leave it in all the time for convenience but remember to turn the lights off when not in use- win/win.
