  1. We were in MoBay on Dec. 21 on the Dream. My husband and I grabbed a taxi out front and went to Doctor's cave Beach. It got crowded but no one hassled us at all. We went to the gift shop right next door and bought a few souvenirs then found another taxi out front,

We thought about doing that. We'll definitely keep it in mind for the future!

  2. We were there on the Dream's Christmas Cruise. We did the Carnival excursion to the Appleton Rum Factory. It was a 2 hour ride to the factory, but there was a great buffet lunch, a great tour, and a tasting of the rum that they make. We liked the busride. We got to see a lot of the island, and learned a lot on the trip.

  3. Here's a copy of the Shore Excursion brochure from our Christmas cruise on the Dream. When you've booked, these are available on the Carnival website under your booking, but I found it really handy to have these all laid out in one document.

Carnival Dream Excursion Brochure, Christmas 2016 Sailing

This will likely change for future cruises, but you can get an idea of what was available.

  4. We were on the Dream for their Christmas cruise a few weeks ago and took the Behind the Fun tour. During the tour, they mentioned a few items that the Dream would be getting during drydock:

    Carnival Hub app

    Guy's Burger

New carpet in most of the public spaces

New stage and stage shows (moving from old-style review shows to the 2.0 shows - whatever those are)

    Deep cleaning

Fixing "a few" unspecified mechanical issues

  5. What movies were/are playing?

We were on the 12/18 - 12/26 sailing and here's the movies that were shown:

    Central Intelligence

    Ghost Busters

    The Light Between the Oceans

    Me Before You

    Jason Bourne

Miss Peregine's Home for Peculiar Children

    Suicide Squad

    Avengers: Age of Ultron

    Captain America: Civil War

    Star Trek Beyond

    Bad Moms

    Elf (this was Christmas Day)

    How the Grinch Stole Christmas

  6. Do you know if the dream will have a Red Frog Pub? If so, we wanna change our cruise from the Breeze to the Dream in March 2017. The Breeze is going to be drydocked shortly after our cruise, and the Dream will be as good as new!

They CURRENTLY have a Red Frog bar on the Lido deck. I don't know what the plans are for it though. Is the Red Frog Pub different?

  7. Does a ship get a new crew after drydock?

This was mentioned on the Behind the Fun Tour too. The entire crew is staying together during the drydock and are doing deep cleaning and the like. They are replacing a large part of the dance troupe because of the change over from the old to new style shows, but I got the impression that the crew wasn't busting up during this change.

  8. I bet the rehab of the stage and back stage will do away with the current Dream shows (which I think are some of Carnival's best) to bring in the wonderful playlist productions. Which I think are not very good

We did the Behind the Fun tour on the last day. One of the stops was to the backstage area and two of the dancers mentioned that they were leaving when the ship goes to drydock. They mentioned that the "old shows" will be replaced by the new shows during drydock. They were sad, because they were longtime members of casts doing the old review-type shows but they were happy to not have to perform the new shows.

  9. Who is the cruise director? I haven't used CC for a long time so I hope I'm doing this right

Jase. He has a facebook page called cruzinwithjase where he provides a bit of info for the cruise and collects photos.

His music trivia games were wonderful and a lot of fun. Motown Trivia, 90s trivia, 80s trivia...check your funtimes and don't miss them.

  10. Hope they can fix the propulsion issue' date=' when we did the Dream earlier this year to ports had to be shortened. GC didnt really affect us but the shorter stay in Cozumel did.[/quote']

Oh that's horrible. That must have been frustrating for sure. Port time seems short enough as it is. We had no problems whatsoever. We were even 45 minutes early to Grand Cayman (tendered port). I was worried about this, but we had no issues on the Christmas cruise.

  11. We were on the Dream over Christmas (debarking yesterday AM). They said they were replacing a lot of stuff during drydock. New carpet, new tile, upgraded wifi, total rehab of the stage and backstage areas, total rehab of many public spaces, etc. They were really evasive about the propulsion issues when I asked the Chief Engineer. :-)

They have had contractors on board during the last two voyages to do behind the scenes work in preparation for drydock, but we didn't see any evidence of this during our cruise.

Can't wait to see what she looks like after drydock!

  12. Neil, my family is on the Christmas cruise that immediately precedes yours (Carnival Dream). We are driving in from Virginia and are looking for something similar...a nice hotel to spend the night before our cruise, and hopefully cheap parking. I've heard about sleep and park deals, but haven't found one for New Orleans yet. Anyone got any ideas
