  1. Yes, a mask is required.  I was on the Jade (in Greece) in August, and I asked about the mask requirement when I toured the spa on embarkation day.  I was told that a mask was required in all areas inside the ship , including the spa's thermal suite pool, etc.  They told me that wearing a cloth mask would be fine.

    I hope this helps!

Even though not required to enter Greece we also plan to test in the US before leaving as well, to reduce chances of positive test on arrival.

We also plan to isolate as much as possible 2 weeks before the trip and avoid crowded places.

Glad to hear you enjoyed it.

That was our strategy as well, and it worked for us.

Enjoy Greece and the cruise on the Jade.  The only bad thing about the sailing was that it was too short!

  3. We were passengers on the Jade out of Athens in early August, and I believe this couple were supposed to be on our sailing.

We 100% understood the risk were taking, and we were prepared to quarantine in Greece if we tested positive.  Everything was spelled out very clearly on the Greek Government's Ministry of Tourism website (where we had to fill out a mandatory PLF in order to travel to Greece).  There was also clear information on the US Department of State website.  Even our airline sent us emails about the quarantine requirement if we tested positive in Greece.

Because of the risk of having to quarantine in Greece (and miss our cruise) we got tested (twice) before leaving the U.S. and we wore N-95 masks during our flight to Greece.  We also purchased the best travel insurance possible in case we got very sick in Greece.

We had no problems, and we had a great trip!  I'd take the risk and do it again if I could.....

Question about testing on the current cruises on NCL. Are they only testing you at the pier or are their daily test going on during the cruise?

Just off the jade last Sunday --

We were tested once at the pier before embarkation and then again 5 days later.  Both tests were mandatory, and we had no "positives" on our 7-night cruise.  I am 100% in support of 100% vaccinated cruises!

PCR tests are not required to enter the US by air. Antigen tests are also accepted. Here's the CDC directive on the matter:

    https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/travelers/testing-international-air-travelers.html

Yes, sorry, I meant antibody, not antigen.  See this link for information on what type of test will be required.  Nevertheless, I'm satisfied that NCL will provide a test for passengers prior to disembarkation.

  6. Hello,

I'll be on the 8/8 Greek Isles NCL sailing, so I've also been researching the topic of covid tests for re-entry to the U.S.

I called NCL last week, and I was told that all passengers WILL receive a free covid test prior to disembarkation, and that test would allow passengers to fly home to their respective countries upon disembarkation.

Since the U.S. requires a viral test  (rather than an antigen test ) within 3 calendar days in order to board a flight for the U.S., I was told that NCL would provide a viral test to U.S. passengers prior to disembarkation.  I could not, however, get any details on WHEN that test would be given on board (2 days prior? 1 day?) or any other details from NCL.  I was told that the "situation was fluid" and that NCL staff were still working out these details.

Here are some helpful links to covid-related resources:

    U.S. Embassy in Greece

U.S. State Dept. - testing requirement for reentry

C.D.C. - testing requirement for reentry

C.D.C. Airline Checklist for Reentry - this gives good information on the type of test required

I know this information isn't much, but I hope it helps!

  7. Will you offer testing onboard to meet travel requirements for guests flying back to countries that require negative COVID-19 test results to re-enter the country post cruise?

Yes, COVID-19 antigen tests prior to disembarkation will be administered onboard to all guests and paid for by the cruise line.

    From: https://www.ncl.com/uk/en/cruise-faq/will-you-offer-testing-onboard-meet-travel-requirements-guests-flying-back-countries-require-neg#:~:text=Yes%2C%20COVID%2D19%20antigen%20tests,for%20by%20the%20cruise%20line.

  8. Hello,

I got the PBP as part of the Best Sale Ever promotion, and I have a question about bottled water.  I like to drink sparkling water or club soda, and I'm wondering if there's a place on board to get 500 ml (or smaller) bottles of sparkling water for use in my cabin?  Or will I have to go the bar each time I'd like a drink and get a glass of club soda?

Also, where does one get 500 bottles of regular (non sparkling) water on board?  I don't recall ever seeing them in shops or bars on board, but since I've never had the premiere beverage package, I wasn't looking.

I'm not a big drinker of alcohol, so I'll be using the PBP for water and coffee drinks on my upcoming 14 night Alaska cruise on Golden Princess.  Thanks for your help!

  9. I was on the June 30, 2019 British Isles cruise (embarked out of London/Southampton). The two formal nights were Guernsey and the FIRST sea day.  Since many people were getting off the ship in Le Havre, they did not have the 2nd formal night on the second sea day (which was the night before Le Havre).

I hope this helps.  The cruise was fantastic!!

  10. Hello all,

Thanks for all the replies.  I've just returned from our cruise on the Crown, and I wanted to post the most recent information about robes in case anyone in the future searches for this information.

According to the staff member I spoke to, all Princess ships offer robes for sale in the gift shop for $75 (this is for a new version of the robe the steward puts in your cabin).  I was also told that you can request a new robe from your room steward for your cabin (and then the $75 would appear on your account).

The robes are a bit pricey, but they make fun gifts.  The two family members I gave them to love them!

My Mom bought several robes through out the years. As stated above - there is the plush one and a waffle one.

I don't remember seeing one in the shops but I think we asked for one in the shops and they went and got us one.

Last I knew - they were $45/waffle one and $90 for the premium/plush one.

Thank you!  That price information is very helpful.

Some friends bought some in the shop on the Star Princess a few years ago, so I think they might be available if you ask.

  12. Hello,

Does anyone know the current price of a Princess robe?  I'm leaving for a cruise on the Crown Princess this week, and a family member has asked me to purchase one for her in the gift shop.

Thank you in advance for your help!
