  1. My family just booked our first Carnival cruise for October 2, 2022 on the Glory out of New Orleans. We cruised out of New Orleans on the NCL Pearl in Nov 2017 and loved it. We booked an Aft-Extended balcony room and an interior room for our kids (19, 16, 13).

Our ports are Montego Bay, Grand Cayman & Cozumel (which we've visited before). I'm most looking forward to Grand Cayman for some snorkeling and sting rays. I'm doing research on Montego Bay now as I'm not sure what we're going to do there.

Happy Travels & Planning to everyone!

  2. We visited Harvest Caye Nov 2017 and was dissappointed. I felt like the beach was a great size but the water wasn't pretty at all and it smelled. We had lunch at Landshark's and swam in the pool and of course hit a few of the shops, which there are a TON of.

Nobody in our group really enjoyed Harvest Caye compared to the other ports we visited during that trip.

  3. We've decided to go May 2021 instead of 2022 since our oldest will be graduating 2022 and we'll be spent out his senior year with all those expenses plus getting stuff ready for college. All that to say, we get to cruise sooner than we had originally planned.

Can't wait til the schedule comes out so we can book since we are a family of 5 and hope to get one of the Ultra Spacious rooms that will hold all of us.

  4. I am going on the Pearl next Sunday (I can't believe it is so close!!) and I have read the same reviews as you which worried me a bit. But then I remember that a lot of people do write reviews to complain and some people have unrealistic or perfectionist ideas. Any small inconvenience or perceived slight becomes a problem. There have been a ton of people posting, like in this one, who seem to love the Pearl. Overall, I think anything is what you make of it!

My family and I will be on the same cruise :) Cannot wait!!!

  5. Good info. We went to Tropicante last time and probably will try Blue Kay in February.

How did you like Tropicante? We are booked for that for our Thanksgiving week cruise in a few weeks. I went back and forth between them and Blue Kay and ended up settling on Tropicante.

  6. The card I'm using for the onboard account only has a $500 limit, I do plan to pay cash 1/2 way through our trip and again at the end so I'm not actually charging anything to the card except the holds they place at the beginning. I guess my question is will they authorize $300 total or will they need to authorize $600 since its 2 separate rooms? If that's the case, I will only have my husband put the card on his room and he'll have to purchase everything on the ship.

  7. If we have 2 separate cabins, and only want to allow my husband and I to charge to the card (we are staying in separate rooms, girls in one room, boys in the other) can we do that? I don't want to have to use 2 separate credit cards just for charges but I also don't want them to put a hold for $300/per room on that card either...

  8. Does anyone know if we can use cash to purchase items in the park? We have dolphin swim reservations and on our paperwork it says they accept cards only no cash so I wondered if that was for the whole park or just the dolphin area.

  9. We are crusing out of NOLA the Sunday before Thanksgiving. We arrive in town that Saturday, 11/18. Staying at the Marriott Downtown Convention Ctr. Wondering what the best mode of transportation will be once we leave our hotel and want to see Jackson Square and French Qtr. We've never been to NOLA before.

Also, its my sons 9th birthday so we are looking for a fun place to eat for a party of 9 (ages 9-60). Not looking for a super expensive restaurant but good food and fun atmosphere.
