I would mention that there's a big difference between "spa services" (i.e. massages, facials, etc.) and a "spa pass" that affords access to the thermal suite. The thermal suites on most NCL ships are excellent and don't require any interaction with spa staff except to check in and out. I have found them to be a really good value if you like to have access to sauna, steam, heated ceramic loungers, a thalassotherapy pool, etc. And since a limited number of passes are sold each cruise, generally the thermal suite is free of crowds.
This is what my husband and I are planning to do. Just being able to sauna daily and all that sounds so relaxing. This is our first cruise, and I am hoping we can buy the pass when we board the ship.

We are going on our first cruise on Apr 23rd out of New Orleans. Thank you for such detailed reporting. It sounds like there are tons of things to do on the boat. I wonder if at the time we are going there will be so many college age. It sounds like you never really got to enjoy the hot tub. We have the drink and dining package.

Once on the ship, forget about it (how much it cost).
I though I knew everything when I was 14.
I'm a long way from 14...LOL, and this is our 40th anniversary cruise. Thanks.

This is our first cruise ever, going out on the Dawn April 21st. We got the UBC and the meal package as our free at sea. We have traveled extensively all over the world, and so this is a new experience. It looks like you can see the cost of things as you go along. We prepaid our gratuities and service charges. I appreciate all the info from everyone. I guess the thing to do is ask if something isn't included if you aren't sure. I will say that cruising is more complicated than I thought with all the hidden charges for different things. It sounds like the best thing to do is check your receipts at the end of the day every day to keep track your expenses. It also sounds like you can have a tropical drink or an apple martini as part of the package. Thanks everyone for your responses.

It wasn't clear if you swim and stuff when you are there. Can you do any snorkeling when on the tour? Or swimming?

TO Gimme the beach
About the jeep tour...who did you arrange that through? Was it with the cruise line or separately?

To: sealegs5 - Is the end of April still spring break? We arrive on the 25th. I thought this would be great fun...but like you, I am not interested in wet tee shirt contests and drunk millennials. So...if someone can shed some light on that, it will affect my decision. Thanks
Using a debit card onboard Norwegian cruise ships
in Norwegian Cruise Line

We are on a 12 day and were told it's 450 pp cash if you don't have a credit card. We choose not to have credit cards. We are going to get a AAA debit to use on shore or shopping. Also they said they will put a hold on your debit and it can take 30 days at times to get it back. I prefer not using our debit from our bank outside of the country. Our first cruise, so this is all new.
