  1. I'm on the Reflection just now & she's a gorgeous ship! Luminae is near the other speciality restaurants. But a deck down at the back of the ship, not sure what was there before but not in a suite.

Molecular Bar is now the World Service Bar but not tended to use it!

    Not sure where Quasar is!

Did you have fun? Any tips for us? We sail tomorrow on the 16 day Transatlantic!!! SO EXCITED!!

  2. We just came back from a 7-night Western Caribbean cruise on Celebrity Reflection and the new dining choices are amazing! We tried Luminae and the pop-up Sushi on Five. And the "new" Porch. I've posted pictures, including some menus, to my website here:

    http://www.myvirtualvacations.net/celebrity-specialty-dining.html

I also have the MDR menus posted on the site as well. Feel free to ask away if any questions. It was a terrific cruise and as always, Celebrity Reflection is a beautiful ship!

Amazing website! I have enjoyed it SOOOOO much! Thanks for taking the time to post all the pictures and for the commentary. I especially like the butter shots!

  3. The pool bar was ridiculous on sea days. No one came around to the chairs, so everyone had to wait at the bar, but there was no organized line. In my opinion, the beverage packages are overwhelming the staff.

Did anyone complain to guest services? This is about the 10th time I've heard about the lack of bar service and inability to get waited on for drinks at both the pool and at other bars. I think that is really important feedback for the Celebrity staff. I like to be waited on during vacation!

  4. I am having a hard time with this site. Tyler the ship does give soap, shampoo, etc. Even a hair dryer. I live in S. Florida (Lake Worth) and this is the first transatlantic for us. I do play Mahj. Jongg and looking forward to getting into a qame. Just having a hard time navigating this site. Keep in touch, and even though I might not answer it is because I am not a computer wiz: See you all soon.

    RiAl,

Try this link: http://www.lisaterreberry.com/2016TA.html . We have all kinds of activities, excursions and fun things to do.

  5. I was going to mention Michaels in my last post but did not know if you would be interested. One of the reasons we rebooked a Sky suite was because of the access. The service was very nice with the bar/wait staff going out of their way to get to know what you liked to drink. It almost made having the premium beverage package a bit unnecessary. I know others will disagree but we found ourselves gravitating to Michaels rather than using the other bars.

That sounds perfect! My husband has the drink package, but I am only an occasional drinker, so I will definitely take advantage of some bloody mary's, wine, and after dinner drinks at Michael's. Do they ever have a piano player at night playing the old Gershwin type music? I miss that piano bar atmosphere so much!

  6. mypyr, we sailed Reflection at the end of January/Sky Suite and truly enjoyed Luminae. We sailed in an Aqua class cabin and also enjoyed Blu but Luminae has it beat. I think you will truly enjoy it.

Thanks xmarksx! I can't wait to try it! Did you avail yourself of Michael's Club? How was that?

  7. Only my opinion, but dry chicken, tasteless beef wellington - but not inedible, just not 'quality'. Since I don't eat fish, I can't comment...but DH did like his; although one night he was told it was 'amazing white fish'...dish wasn't amazing and it wasn't white fish. Again, I do believe when you have so many diners, it won't be the same as the specialty restaurants. My dinners were 'fine', but I am picky so my opinion probably doesn't count for much.

    Thanks. Doesn't sound great....

  8. . Not great quality, but as another poster said...'any night I don't have to prepare the meal, it's USUALLY a good night'.

When you say "not great quality", what do you mean? Could you please be more specific?

    Thanks!

  9. I am jealous of you doing a transatlantic!

I think I mentioned everything in my review. Since you are on for 16 nights, you should see and experience all the bars I didn't .....

    Enjoy!

Thanks! A few questions if you don't mind.

Did you use the wifi on board? If so how was it?

Did you notice a shortage of waiters at the pool? Many other reviews have mentioned that and I wondered if that issue had been resolved.

  10. My wife, teenage kid, & I were on the Reflection for a western Caribbean cruise in January. We all agreed it was probably our best cruise ever. It was the 1st time on Reflection for my wife, but 2nd time for my daughter and I.

Here is my published review - http://www.cruisecritic.com/memberreviews/memberreview.cfm?EntryID=529152

Sorry, I was a bit long winded with that review, so for those that can't read, here is the movie version -

And for those that only like to look at pictures -

Thanks for taking the time to post your review! I loved how multi-faceted it was! We will be on the TA for 16 nights in 2 weeks and your review made me more excited than ever. Any tips or advice that wasn't mentioned in your review?

  11. Hi Cindy,

Call your carrier and see if they will do an unlock. If not, there are sites - which I will not mention - that provide unlock codes. Another option is to buy a cheap/old smart phone that is unlocked and buy a SIM card for the countries you plan to visit.

For SIM cards, try searching online for cell providers in each country and then eBay or Amazon for these cards as a starting point. Look for Prepaid SIM cards.

Foreign SIM cards would come with a local # and should let you make local calls and text. Data and international would be handled according to each plan.

    Thanks for the info!

  12. Emails should be fine at any time, and probably iMessage. FaceTime may be iffy as that needs more bandwidth.

As to the TA cruise I can't comment on how reliable the service will be as I was in the Western Caribbean. If you're in port you may want to have an unlocked iPhone and buy local SIM cards (locally or prepaid ones before you leave). Another option is a MiFi device from T-Mobile - I have one that I use here and get free 2G international data when traveling. I brought it but honestly did t need to turn it on, but that is another option.

    markluke,

Thanks for your reply. I have Verizon, and I am technologically challenged. How do I unlock my iphone and where to I buy the local or prepaid ones? When I put them in(which I guess I can figure out) does that mean that I can text and make local calls?

    Thanks for your help!

    Cindy

  13. Hi! I will be on the Transatlantic 16 night voyage in 3 weeks and purchased the Unlimited Internet package so that I will be able to communicate with my daughter at home.

I just read a daily from last year which said that during the sea days we will be sharing satellite service with other ships and that the service is iffy at best.

Does that mean that I will not be able to contact her via e-mail? How about Imessage and facetime? I do most of my communication via my Iphone.

My daughter will be taking care of my house and dogs, so I need to be able to be in touch rather often. How reliable will my service be while at see with the Xcellerate? How about when we are in port once we are in Europe?

    Thanks for your help!

  14. I have the chance to upgrade to a a Sky Suite, and I really want to do it because I love the idea of the extra room for 10 days. We are currently in a C2 Veranda. I have a 24 hour hold on it so I need all of your advice! It is on the resort deck, below the Oceanview Cafe so I am a bit concerned about the noise, but I love the idea of the extra room, Luminae, and Michael's Club entry, which is now availalable to Sky Suites.

What perks does Michael's Club offer?

Any info would be greatly appreciated! Is the food MUCH better quality in Luminae than in the MDR? We did not plan to spend the extra on Specialty restaurants.

Just HOW bad is the overhead noise. We are NOT light sleepers and my DH is kind of deaf, but if the noise is AWFUL, then it's not worth it.

    HELP! QUICK!
