Clovelle,
You may also want to Google what phase the moon will be in when you cruise. If it's a new moon you'll see lots of stars. If it's a full moon the stars will be washed out but the moon will look gorgeous especially when it is rising or setting. Personally, I love looking at the reflection of the moon on the water in the middle of the night.
Cheers!
HTP
You know what? I'd never even considered the moon! I bet the moon sparkling on the water will look so beautiful, I really can't wait. All these new experiences. May be little things to some, but big wows for me! :D

Yes, Hardtoport, I was wondering about the view from the balcony! :)
I'm sure I'll find wherever I can see the stars from that they'll look amazing compared to what I usually see. :)
-
Oh dear!
I'm so sorry to read all this - not great starts to a supposedly relaxing holiday is it?
I really do sincerely hope that you can all get everything sorted out to your liking and that you can all start to enjoy your cruise from here on in.

Thanks Nikki, that's a great idea, I'll get that app for sure! :) - I used to love seeing the ISS go over when we lived out in countryside! We are in a town now so too much light pollution. (Incidentally, your post says Rotherham, I am a Yorkshire lass too! :D )
Computerworks, thanks for replying, that will be a shame :(
Ah well, I DO have another opportunity to see the stars on another holiday later next year when we are in the national parks of Utah. . We've booked one hotel which has stargazing areas on room balconies. Now THAT should be awesome! :)
-
Thank you, both of you for your replies.
I'll certainly head to those areas and check them out :)

I've never been on a cruise before, so I'm not familiar with locations of public areas on cruise ships in general. We are cruising in April on the Divina :)
I've just read a great article on this site about star-gazing and I really badly want to do this on board!
Earlier this year I was completely blown away by the sight of the night sky from the doorway of the holiday cabin we were staying at in Grand Canyon village, but was unable to find a place to view properly. (Wouldn't want to drive out somewhere and lie down on the ground! :D )
Since this amazing sight - like seeing the sky for the very first time! - I have this urge to really take in a scene like that but without any light pollution and in relative safety/comfort.
I'm hoping to be able to do this on the ship?
Can anyone who has been on the ship, suggest anywhere I might head to?
Can you be at large on the ship during the night I presume?
I'm so excited to do this if I can :)
Thanks for any advice :)

If you are on the April 1 sailing, join our roll call.
Hi there fellow cruiser! *waves*
I have joined! :)
Can't wait to go - woo-hoo, only 116 days to go. :( :D
-
Thank you for your review - much appreciated! :)
I would be very interested in seeing the Daily programme photos if you do post them again - as we are new to cruising, (this cruise will be our first ) so it would be very informative for us to see them! :)

Hi there,
Just to say - we've been really enjoying watching your vlog on the Divina! :)
Thank you so much for taking the time to do it! :)
Just watched your St Maarten day - Wow! amazing!!!!
We are new to cruising, and next April we are coming over from the United Kingdom to Miami to cruise on the Divina - it will be our very first cruise ever!
Your vlog has given us so many tips, and such a great rounded insight - really can't wait now, we're sure we are going to just love it!!
Thanks again to both of you! :D

Ooh! Not long for you!
January is the best time for a holiday I think, deals with the post Christmas blues nicely! :D
-
And thank you to all from me too!
Much appreciated! :)

Thanks Nikki :)
And yes Bev - I'll be a cruise expert by then! LOL :D
So exciting isn't it? So much to learn, have been watching a vlog of 2 sisters on a trip on Divina, it all looks fab!

We go 1st April, from Miami :) Can't wait!! :D

Bev68, :) I too am a Brit who has booked their first ever cruise on MSC, also on Aurea experience with drinks package!
I'm glad someone has asked this about tips and morning coffee.
We are paying the 12 per day upfront - but my question is - how does the person who delivers my coffee know I've already paid upfront?
I just want to do the right thing

Frozone, my kids will be 13 & 15 when we go in April. I've read that there is 1 teen club for both, graffiti, I've also read that there is 1 for 12-14 and 15-17. I'd like them in the same club if possible. What was your experience with this? One club or two or did it even matter? Thanks
You have the same concern as me then, Jcollin, good to read that our boys (and your children) will be able to socialise together despite being in different age groups :)
You're on the Divina in April? So are we, we board our cruise on the first of April - our first ever cruise adventure!! :)
Frozone, we have the standard all inclusive drinks package (the one which comes with the Aurea experience) I hope we don't regret upgrading to Premium..... I'm sure it will be fine, hey, I'm going on my first cruise, and I'm happy!!! LOL :D

You won't see your boys when you are on board! It's like taking a romantic holiday and family holiday all in one. You are going to have the best time.

Oh I like the sound of a romantic getaway! :D
Sounds like the boys will have a ball!

Thank you both - that's great about the sofa bed! :)
and just as I presumed, adults only. That is good too, happy with that. :) Perhaps hubby and I can go up for a relax whilst the boys are otherwise engaged with their activities :D

First, welcome to CC. You will have years of enjoyment from this site. HOWEVER, you have GOT to get out of the depression you are clearly in. Everything about your post screams sadness and that you don't want to cruise or be involved in cruising in any way.
So, take a big breath and relax. Eventually you will start to get excited. :D
The cool thing about this site is that no matter what question you have big or little, strange or mundane you can ask and get an answer. Just read down the first page or two of the subject you will be asking about and see if there is a recent answer/question. People get cranky when you ask a question that has been asked a 1000 times in the last week alone. On the other hand, you can ask a weird question like: I love ABC shampoo but don't want to fly with it. I am leaving on the Happy Ship on November 10th out of port LaLa. Someone, and I mean someone, will come on here and tell you where you can find it, how you can get there and what is the best way to get there. Awesome.
Just remember when you ask questions to give us all the details so we don't have to guess. Leaving out a ship or cruise line, for example, means that we are only guessing at your answer because what might be true on Princess might not be true on Cunard.
That said, I hope you get excited soon. Seriously, a good attitude makes for an even better cruise so have fun.
Hi there! :) Thank you for the welcome - but - not sure if you read a different thread? - because I am SOOOO excited and could not be happier to be doing a cruise!! :D
I am so giddy I just can't wait!! LOL
Our teen boys are equally looking forward, as is my hubby who I thought wouldn't be!
(apologies here if your reply was said in humour! :D I may have missed the point, I have been known to! :D)
Thanks for your tip about doing a search first, that's great, I will! :)
-
Hi there and welcome. It looks like you have found your specific Roll Call, and the general MSC board. You are well on your way to researching and planning this fabulous cruise. Have fun. :)
Thank you, and LOL, yes I did! Roll call and MSC board! :D
I'm getting to grips with this site and throwing myself into it all!

Hello Hello!
New here and just booked our very first cruise, I'm still buzzing with just booked excitement and we booked 2 days ago now! :)
We are cruising with our two boys and just wondered if anyone could shed any light on what their own boys did on board?
I see there's a teenager's hang out with clubs for certain ages. One of our boys is in one teen age group and the other one is in the other unfortunately - would there be opportunity to do things together, at least at first to get over their shyness?
What about sports? Are teens allowed to take part in these onboard or are there things just for over 18s?
Thank you so much for reading - and thank you again if anyone can give any insight! :)
-
Hello everyone, pleased to be here!
We're booked on our first ever cruise on 1st April next year, on the Divina and we've booked the Aurea experience.
I wonder if anyone could help with my queries - I did try to do a search before asking, so as to not ask if not necessary :)
What does the turndown service consist of please?
We are cruising in a balcony cabin, a family of 4 and I appreciate it will be 'snug' , but what happens about the sofa bed? Do we get it out and make it up in an evening and put it away in the morning? Or is it left out all the time?
I read that we can use a solarium deck, is that just adults I presume?
I think that's it for now, thank you for any answers...... and I apologise in advance as I WILL have more questions!! :D
I really can't wait to do this, I am so excited, and love it as it's a whole new 'thing' for us to do as a family! :)
-
Thank you all!! :)
-
Thank you both for the welcome! :)
I surely will have questions. many in fact, so much to get to grips with!
Now - to make myself a coffee and do further research! :D
Where is best on the ship to see the stars?

Hahaha!
We do get so used to seeing an orange night sky I suppose! :D
