  1. That is what Travel insurance is for! :)

I have only ever used Travel insurance once but will never be without it! I never claim for minor things and thus never pay to waive exsess.

Now your health is most important to both you and those around you so how you feel yourself about going is more important than getting back costs from a TI policy.

Look at your TI policy very carefully if you do decide you feel well enough to go because even though it "was not" a pre existing it has now become a pre existing "before travel date" which you have to notify the TI of in most policies.

A failier to disclose any new condition prior to travel date is the same as failing to disclose a prior condition in most cases.

Just remember if in the unlikely event of an at sea medical emergancy wouldnt "you" rather be more comfortable in yourself knowing you were close to the best emergency treatment in the world instead of a ships doctor? I know what the TI would prefer.

Hope you get very well soon and doctor allows travel :)

    Thank you so much

  2. If you cancel the cruise you are likely to be covered as you said there was no history of heart disease before. However, if you cruise and something happens, you may not be covered as you were just in hospital, so it now pre-existing condition for the cruise. In addition heart disease is generally not covered in any case (not as a pre existing condition anyway). I wish you luck, but after speaking to you doctor, you may want to speak with the insurance company.

I wish you luck with it all.

    Thanks Mic

  3. First point, you have travel insurance. Good. We don't know how serious the condition is/was. If you were in hospital only a week before the cruise, that is not good. You can ask your doctor whether you should go. If you are very ill, he/she will probably advise against it.

Is there any way your condition could be classed as 'pre-existing'? If so, that might sway you to go on the cruise if you can manage it because insurance probably would not cover you for your costs.

Next point is how do you feel? Do you feel well enough, and strong enough, to fully enjoy the cruise? If you are not very ill, you need to consider If you would rather opt out at this time and go sometime in the future when you could enjoy the cruise more. If so, you could put this angle to the doctor to have him write a certificate for you to present to the insurance company.

    All the best. :D

    Yes I have travel insurance

I haven't had any heart issues before(thank goodness)so I'm safe as far as pre existing

Today I'm not 100 percent but I'm hoping I will be okay later in week ,thank you for the constructive advice I will speak to my GP on Monday and see what he thinks

I am not trying to scam the insurance company i was asking about the what ifs because I haven't been in this situation before and have looked to the forums before for help/opinions

    Ty so much

  4. Looks like a case of putting the cart before the horse at this stage!

Perhaps but it's only 6 days away and I was in hospital yesterday so I just wanted a general idea of the "what ifs"

The insurance company was not open today so I just thought I'd ask

  5. I canceled due to the unforeseen death of a close family member,we couldnt produce a copy of death certificate because it was so close to travel so they accepted a hospitals treating doctor letter.

We used a TA at that stage and she sorted it all out for us and even booked for a latter time before the insurance even paid up.

I would be calling your insurance asking exactly what you need to submit to them as that small print can be mind boggling.

    Thanks everyone

It's a case of speaking to the dr and getting his final opinion should I still go

  6. ***reposting on to this board as I was told you guys are best to help me! ***

    Hey guys

I have a super random and weird question!

We are going on the 9 night cruise with Carnival in Jan which goes to Isle Of Pines, Mare, Lifou Isle & Noumea.

I have some anxiety issues and noticed that for the first three when speaking of excursions it states "limited WC".

My question is, if we where to just get off the boat to sit on the beach (we wont really do any of the exploring excursions, just wanting to relax) are their WC facilities where we tender in to/around that beach areas.

Super random, I know, but if anyone who has been to these three places could maybe give me the low down on what to expect around the tender area/beaches that would be fantastic!

    Kat

    Hi Kat

I was there in Jan going again this January

There are limited loos on each but they are there

Take tissues n wetones as they are not western style on all islands

And there isn't always loo paper

Don't worry you will be fine

    Cheers

    Sue

  7. Wonderful result and especially after such a long period. Hope your LFTs come down to a safe level so that you can at least have a tipple every now and then.

    Thank you !

They are manageable now with meds so I'll be that cruiser walking around with sparkling water but hey I'll still be kicking to enjoy cruising [emoji3]

  8. That is a great outcome.

It’s unfortunate though that you were given the incorrect information on the ship. I wonder how many others were in the same boat (ha!) as you but missed out on getting their money back, even though they could have.

You just can’t trust what you’re told anymore. It’s a lesson to all to triple check everything.

Once again though, it is a great outcome. Well done.

Thanks tazza I really wasn't expecting the outcome to be so positive let alone sorted within a hour or so

  9. In January we did a cruise on Explorer of the Seas

We brought a deluxe drink package before we left for each of us ,by the second night I realised I wasn't going to get any value out of it because I recently had been put on a low carb diet because of high EFTs and was virtually ordering only sparkling water.

Morning of day 3 head down to customer service desk and ask to cancel my drink package, the girl said yes made me hand over my coke cup and off I went

That night a message was left on our phone " sorry you can't cancel after 48hrs" so I thought great what a waste of money and put it down to just bad luck.

Today over on another social media site the question was asked can you cancel your package whilst on cruise so I posted only in first 48 hrs

Many told me no that's not right and posted terms n conditions ....so I ring royal at 4.43pm and explain my story ect (10 months after the fact)the lady listened and I read her their terms n conditions , she asked why it took me this long to ring I said well I thought your staff would be correct , within an hr she called back and told me I was receiving a full refund on my drink package

    Great outcome from Royal!!
