  1. I don't suppose anyone has any sample menus and wine list?

Also - I am looking forward to dinning on board but fancy at least one night or lunch in a good restaurant ashore. Any/ all recommendations are welcome!

    Thanks to all

  2. Thank you to everyone who has replied - it is greatly appreciated (and, I am glad to say, very re-assuring). I note a few people say that this is not really like a river cruise - that is fine as it is really Venice we want to see and, as we have never been on a river cruise before, we probably will not be aware of the difference!

Any more tips on Venice and making the most of Uniworld would be most welcome. However, thanks again for your comments which were really useful.

  3. We are thinking of booking Uniworld La Venezia on their 8 day 'Venice and Jewels of the Veneto'. We have not been on Uniworld before

I think this may be a new itinerary but has anyone done anything similar with Uniworld in Venice. If so what are your thoughts/ observations? We are particularly interested in best time of year to go, do you get much chance to explore Venice itself and is it possible to sit outside for dinner on the ship. However, all thoughts welcome on whatever topic you like! Many thanks

  4. Hi Daisi,

Many thanks for your advice and tips - it is much appreciated.

I can see why people do enjoy river cruising and collect a lot of good memories of the excursions, company etc. I think perhaps, that it is just not quite the right 'product' for us - it is just a personal preference.

Hope you enjoy all your future cruises/ holidays

  5. Hi,

My wife and I are very interested in this cruise having enjoyed Seabourn/ Silversea before (we realise this will be different). I would be grateful for advice on a few queries:

    1) Sorry if this seems weird - but we really like to keep ourselves to ourselves and are very quiet people who do not really like to socialise (although we are well behaved and polite - honest!). How easy is it on La Venzia to do this (e.g. eat by ourselves, have table to ourselves in bar etc.). We are thinking of booking a suite if that affects things. Please do not take offence as we are sure everyone is very nice - it is just we are very private people

    2) We like to explore on our own - is it easy to get on and off the ship to do this?

    Many thanks for any advice

    Stay safe and well

  6. Apologies if this has been covered elsewhere.

We are thinking of sailing on the Spirit for the first time. I understand that there is a wide variety of restaurants but that the menus do not change - is this correct? I am particularly interested in whether the menus change in Atlantide and Terraza.

Any sample menus would also be of great interest.

Many thanks to anyone who can help

  7. Hi - amazing that people still use this venue in Alaska etc. (love the photo). Good for them! In warmer places such as the Greek islands etc. are there usually any problems in getting a table for two at Earth and Ocean? As always, thanks for any advice

  8. I am going back on the Odyssey after a couple of years elsewhere. I used to love the Patio Grill in the evening but I see this is now Earth and Ocean. Do I have to reserve a table for this and are there usually any problems with doing so? Many thanks for any advice

  9. Thanks to people who clarified the dining options for me on the Shadow. It is appreciated. I get confused by references to 'Musification' but I think it that menus do not change on the Muse but they do on Shadow. Best point is that most people seem to feel that Shadow is still very good and refurbishment is a success - so I am looking forward to booking a retirement cruise!

  10. We are thinking of returning to Silverseas after a break of a couple of years (apart from a short trip on Wind we we enjoyed). I note Sliver Shadow has been refurbished. Can anyone explain what the dinning option are now and which have to be reserved? Grateful thanks for any help and apologies if people have already covered this

  11. Hi

We are thinking of taking the Viking pre cruise hotel extension prior to doing the West Indies Explorer cruise. Has anyone done this extension and what was good/ bad about it. Particularly interested in standard of hotel used.

Also what would be good to do with on full day there? Ideally some culture in morning and beach in afternoon - is this easy?

    Thanks for any advice

  12. Prosecco is often served now at cocktail receptions. I usually simply ask the waiter if it prosecco and if it is ask them to bring up two glasses of champagne instead. Seriously not a big deal. Seabourn is still wonderful in my book and I don't pay attention to ratings.

I meant to say that I have not read this in Berlitz myself but was told this.I suspected that the information I was given was not correct (and that Berlitz probably did not even say it). Thank you for your explanation and it sounds like SB are maintaining the standards we enjoyed so much. Interested to hear other people's views but I am looking to book a cruise in the summer (probably on Odyssey) and are confident we will love it again!

  13. We have travelled with Seabourn twice and found it excellent. I am concerned at the down grading by Berlitz. Can people tell me what has changed? Berlitz seem to say that they have started serving Presseco instead of champagne as part of their inclusive drinks. Is this true (maybe not big issue in itself but indicative) - I suspect this is not true at all
