  1. I'm not sure if you sailed already but we've cruised out of SJ and were at the airport at our gate by 8 a.m.  Just carry your bags off that morning when the doors open.  the Pier is not far from the airport.  get bags through agriculture, check them (or not) and head to TSA which is not crowded early a.m.  You'll be fine providing no mishaps with ship.

  2. You can rent a car in Curacao and drive to Playa Piskado beach to swim with turtles.  We used Advance Car Rental. Came with GPS with premarked places and cell phone to call him in case of emergency.  It was easy to navigate the island.  we stopped at the flamingos too.

Looking at trying RCL rather than our normal Celebrity Millennium class ship. As my wife spends most of her time sitting in a wheelchair, I'm wondering if the Anthem has anyplace outside, in the shade and at a table where she can pass the afternoon away?

The Solarium does have tables but as others mentioned, its inside.  If you check Deck 5, it has an outside deck (looks like full length of ship) with loungers, not sure there are tables, and it's well covered.  However, there is that little thing called lifeboats there also.  Stay on the Port side tho, as Starboard has the "bus stop" (smoking section).

  4. We were in Bahamas last year, Nassau,  Did DIY stuff.  We did go to Junkaroo Beach.  like someone said, it's a 15 minute walk.  altho my husband has mobility issue so it took us more like 25 minutes.  i also walked around Nassau in the morning by myself.  saw Gregory's Arch, the policy station, Queen's Staircase, post office, cigar and choc place, and other sites that were recommend on the boards here.  do a search in this forum for DIY or walking maps.  great info.  lots of shopping along the main street also and in port.  i have fun collecting the charms out of the various stores.  you can get coupons for "free" charms and a charm bracelete on the ship.  cheap novelty, of course, but fun.  get an order of the Conch Fritters and try the hot sauce from the kiosk right on the pier.  Yummy and i generally won't eat conch or hot sauce but both were delicious.

  5. we did DIY.  not sure if that's what you looking for but.....we just snorkeled in Curacao at Playa Grandi with sea turtles.  so if hubby not into snorkeling there's a pier he can watch from or loungers with umbrella and facilities he can watch from or swim.   we rented a car to get there. get there early as bus load come in about 11 and they scare off the turtles. after returning car i walked over the floating bridge which was cool and saw some sites.   Aruba was Arashi Beach by bus to swim.  they have palapa (sp?) ...huts free and lounge rentals are cheap and water is beautiful.  facilities available.  snorkeling is not great but we had fun looking.  took public bus which was fun.  Bonaire we rented a golf cart and road around the south loop first, stopped at one beach and the sites...slave huts, flamingos, etc. and north loop went to 1000 steps beach to snorkel.  that was fabulous.  the north loop is a one way after that beach so if you continue you are committed to a 2 plus hour drive.  we opted to head back to the ship for me to shop and explore the port area.

Where /who did you rent the golf cart through?  I'd rather do it once I get to the port vs up front just in case we decide not to do it.

it's from Bonaire cruisers, just email them to reserve.  no money up front and they sell out so don't wait til port day otherwise you wait for the no shows.   no biggie if you reserve and decide not to do it. altho you should cancel so they can give your cart to someone else earlier.

We will be in Bonaire for the first time in Jan. 2020 and are interested in the golf cart rental. Are there special golf cart lanes or are you driving in regular car traffic? Thanks.

we just did it last week, it was great fun.   the traffic is minimal as others said.  cars, etc. will pass you.  a lil nerve wracking for me at times but it was great fun and we would do it again.   you can stop wherever you want too.  we had a donkey cross in front and hang out on the side staring at us.  too funny.

  7. I agree with ransrider.....just google them and email them.  they are very responsive.  it's quite fun.  No money to reserve, they will hold them til about 11 but there are others who haven't reserved waiting for the no shows.  we just did it on our sept. 8-15 cruise.

  8. i walked around by myself at 8 a.m. to sightsee.  wasn't bothered by anyone and felt safe the whole time.  walked over to queens staircase, gregory's arch, the post office, etc.  yes, the cab drivers are pushy by the gate but just say no thank you and keep walking.  then in afternoon my hubby and me walked over to Junkaroo Beach.

Which days and times are the ice skating shows on Freedom of the Seas ABC cruise that departs from Puerto Rico? I want to sign up for the My Time dining times but don't want to interfere with the show time.

    Thanks!

I saw it listed in a recent cruise compass for that itinerary - Day 4 at 8 p.m. and 10 p.m. and a note saying there will be two more performances on Day 6

So much nicer than the st. Islands. And much cleaner. Better snorkeling. Beautiful landscapes to explore. Easy to drive. I'll be back there in all 3 in January and cant wait.

easy to drive?  going in sept. to ABC and rented a car in curacao, a little nervous about driving.  would love to go to playa grandi early to snorkel as i heard it gets crowded.

I agree with the above.  We always use porters when debarking.  You can do self disembark on the Fascination.  Just did it two weeks ago.  As soon as you reach where the luggage is, get a porter.  They will take you through customs with no wait in line. Then they will take you outside to a taxi.  Same at the airport.  Grab a porter curbside, and they handle everything till you get to security.  Small price to pay if you are in a hurry!

What would be a fair price for the porters at the pier and airport?  Jetblue changed my flight time to 9:56 a.m.

We always do self assist and have not had a problem yet.  Many times we've gotten to the airport before we could even check in.  We like self assist because it's just less hectic finding luggage and getting a cab... even if we have an 11am or later flight.  No, never have any stress... just know that somehow getting home will happen... one of the joys of being retired and not having stressors at home waiting for us!

I am not retired but do not having anything to rush home for but that being said, my flight was changed by airline from 10:41 to 9:56.  I wasnt stressed for the 10:41 flight but 9:56 made me a lil nervous

Not if you are first in the self-assist line.

Bob:  i hate to hijack this thread, .......my airline had a schedule change and my return flight from san juan is now 9:56 a.m. with no other flights that day except early early a.m. back to home airport with that particular airline.  Can we make it?  and now flights to another airport are almost double UGH

The ship specific searches have to be redone since the switch over to the new forum software.

    Adventure search results

    Anthem search results

The two searches links above are from the RCCL forum only.

They have their hands full at the moment with all the indexing and other changes and the ship specific searches will be taken care of as soon as they can get around to them.

Those links aren't to ship specific boards, they are just links to search for posts about that ship. Search is still indexing posts, so results may not be consistent.

Thanks. good know.  i'll be patient 🙂
