  1. I took the the ship tour on the new Horizon and went down to the storage areas for all the meats and fresh vegtables.  It was amazing how they have it broken down to each day.  Of course the meat is frozen, how could it not be, but it is kept very cold while it defrosts.  The kitchens are set up to cook, not warm up.  I am sure there are some things they take on frozen and warm up for meals, restaurants do that too.  Thing is you have choices, and you will find certain foods in the buffet and the dining room on the same day, but that isn't bad.  I have never had a bad meal on Carnival, and like others say, you get what you pay for.  I am taking a Viking river cruise and am paying a whole lot more for it than I have any other Carnival cruise.  They do a good job for what you pay.  If people think the dining room is to fancy perhaps they should remember they are on a cruise, not a boat ride through the bayou.   Carnival is not fancy, it is appropriate dining for the adventure you are on.  But then some people never leave the bar so why would they care anyway.

  2. Portion get smaller, quality of meats goes down, number of options decreases, staff gets cut back. Sometimes management get over ambitious worrying about the bottom line. Carnival MDR is a nice place to eat, is included, and gives you choices. Ships get so big they could never feed everyone in specialty restaurants. I always enjoy a couple of shrimp cocktails and 2 desserts, so the MDR works for me. Steakhouse is a steakhouse, can get that at home. Guy's burgers I think is great.

  3. I've booked a cruse to Alaska on the Carnival Legend on May 16, 2017. My fiance' and I want to halibut fish on the cruise in Juneau on May 18, 2017 leaving in the afternoon once we arrive at 1:00 pm. The Carnival excursion has sold out. I found Moore charters for $300 per person for a 6 hour charter. This charter needs 4-6 people in order to be able to leave out. If you're interested in joining us in this halibut/salmon trip, please let me know. I have done the research and it's reputable and the company will have us back to the boat in time to leave port.

I am on that cruise and I booked a salmon trip in Ketchikan for the 23rd at 7am. I booked with Ketchikan Charters. They will get you on a boat with other singles like myself for around two hundred each. It is a 4 hour trip for salmon, and you need a king salmon stamp because they are running now.
