Not for the cruise, but for crown and anchor in general.

They must not be because you would be diamond if so.  That jump is a big one for benefits, so make sure they get it situated.  Also, if on the phone get your preferences set for your welcome aboard gifts.

Thanks everyone! I waited on hold forever but they said that our account were already linked, but then were puzzled to why I wasnt also Diamond (moved up bc of my husband) so it took a while but they fixed it for RCL & Celebrity (**Elite/Diamond Dance**) WOO HOO!

Forgot to ask about the welcome gift🙄 will call back later and wait for 2 hours lol.

Yes, ask them to link your accounts.

That way you will get his Diamond status.  And you keep that even if you split up. 😄

You would just revert to your actual earned points.

I made Diamond on my last cruise, just before COVID.  My GF is some 30 points behind me, but she is also now Diamond.

I had thought our accounts were linked already, but I will check on this thanks!

  3. Wondering if anyone knows more about the Diamond Lounge, is it similar to Celebrity Retreat Lounge (can you grab waters and pop here, what else is offered in the lounge?)

Also, I read that there is "Welcome Waters & Snack + Beverage Selection" left in your room, is this everyday or only on embarkation, just trying to figure out if we need our water package if we get water with Diamond status.

My husband will be Diamond for the first time in March, I will still be Platinum. TIA!

    Ports

    Antigua

Here we did a Celebrity organised tour called Scenic Antigua and Beach and it’s probably the only excursion of the cruise that I won’t recommend.  Not because it was bad, I just think there are probably better options on offer.

The bus we travelled in had a poor speaker system making it hard to hear the guide and there was terrible leg room between the seats.  The guide, however, was good at her job and very positive.

Nelson Dockyard was a ‘been there, done that’ kind of place.  The beach they took us to was lovely, but the water was so cold - surprisingly though.  I’m guessing it’s because Antigua was the most northern port of our visit, but none of the other islands we visited had water that cold.  Not the fault of the tour, but still worth mentioning.

Here’s some pics of the day anyway.

Hello, Did you happen to hear about anything better to do in Antigua? We just booked this tour but wondering if you found any other information on excursions.

    Thanks!

Day 4: Scenic Antigua and Beach

I awake around 8:30 and get dressed for my day. Breakfast, then an island and beach tour. I am doing breakfast solo in the dining room today. The line is long, but it’s all good, this gives me time to journal. My roomie is still counting sheep after another late night in the casino.

So, some people may wonder about my art auction purchase... here’s the scoop. First, you tour the art gallery and put a little sticky with your bid number on anything that catches your eye. Gallery staff are circulating to give you a price breakdown on these pieces should you want to purchase before the auction. This only lasts 10 minutes. The interesting part is the actual auction. I have to say the art auctioneer was very entertaining and very clear about how things would work. He had good jokes too!

There’s a bang of the gavel to open the bidding which was fast and furious. His assistants start yelling out each time a bid is made. There are mystery or blind bids placed for artwork before it is even seen. This could be a good deal if it happens to be something you actually like.

A couple of folks bid over 35 thousand for some pieces. Let me be clear. This is not me... AT ALL! I appreciate good art, but most teachers don’t have that kind of a budget. I am; however, a fan of animation art cels, so of course one of my childhood favorites: Garfield is put up for auction. Yup! You got it. That’s my highbrow art purchase for 50 bucks. There was a bidding war and I won. It makes me smile and will be a good momento of the cruise. Maybe I’ll hang it in the kitchen? Anyway, the line for breakfast has gone down. Back to the dining room.

    I order the classic breakfast.

I’m seated with a lovely family from Ireland and a Florida couple this morning. We reminisce about Jolly Old England. I explain what grits are (smile). This is another thing I love about cruising... meeting people from all over the world and discussing cultural differences... like why the Brits put butter on EVERYTHING?! Before you know it, it’s time to leave the ship.

We are in port with the the Carnival Fascination right along side. There’s a nice breeze. A steel drum band is playing away

I’m a bit early, nothing to do but stand in line and journal for you fine folks. I wonder if Klaudia is up yet?

The tour gets started, we are shown the various churches, plants and wildlife. Next, a lookout stop at Shirley Heights and then on to Nelson’s Dockyard. After a short tour, we roam the dockyard and museum.

It’s a 30 minute stop and then on to Fort James Beach and Miller’s By the Sea. The bus driver and tour guide lead us in a singalong of “Day-O” and “When The Saints Go Marching In.” They conclude by singing for us Antigua’s National Anthem. Did I mention that I’m a music teacher? Music, Music Everywhere. LOVE IT!!!

We arrive at the beach. A rum punch and beach chair are included. Umbrellas and food are extra. Yet another paradise awaits...

I end up having a grand ole time chillin in the ocean with two couples from Texas.

It’s about 3:00 and time to head back to the ship. The cost of this tour was 65 dollars. Something that’s nice about the port in Antigua.... the gangway is right there. You’re not forced to walk through tons of stores and it’s a short walk to get back on the ship which is kinda nice after a 5 hour excursion. In any event, I get back onboard. Lunch is needed. Off to the Windjammer I go! A little of this, a little of that, some dessert and I’m all set.

I head back to my super suite cabin for a shower and also to relax a bit. I have a 6 pm meeting in the art gallery (to discuss the careful shipping and handling of Garfield) After that, it’s the white party... and dinner of course.

We shall see what the evening holds for me after dinner. Tonight’s the ice skating show as well as the Love & Marriage Game Show, but these don’t peak my interest. Will it be more drinking and dancing or will it be a show? The movie Pitch Perfect is playing on the pool deck and I’ve been wanting to see that as well. Only time will tell.

I’ll have to give you the evening’s highlights tomorrow on Day 5 in St. Lucia. I have no excursion planned. It may be a port/ship day. I could use one of those right about now. Jacuzzi and cocktails anyone? I’ll leave you with tonight’s dinner:

    Maryland Crab Cake (Not Good)

    French Onion Soup (YUM)

    Chicken Breast (Not Good)

    Grand Marnier Souflee (Not Good)

    Creme Brûlée (YUM)

Celebrity has listened and has done the correct thing in my opinion.

I need to clarify the menu for that evening as I am not a fan of what they were advertising.

    Dear Valued Guest,

You may have received an email from Celebrity Cruises yesterday advising you on a change to your Specialty Dining Reservation.

There is no change to your original Specialty Dining Reservation for February 14, 2020 and there is no action necessary.

We apologize for any confusion this has caused.

We look forward to welcoming you on board for your Valentine’s Day Sailing.

I looked on the celebrity website and they do not have the option to book the $119 “special” Valentine’s Day dinner. I also tried to confirm the menu but they said I would have to ask on board. I assume its the menu they initially sent when they said the price was changing, but you never can be sure.

I was hoping they would offer the $45 Tuscan option on Feb 14th again but that was not available either. They will probably try to sell this night on the ship for the $119 for new bookings.

Welp, just as predicted I received the email from Celebrity this afternoon. Here it is. Same menu as Murano. We planned and paid for this 2 month’s ago at $45 pp (cancelled and rebooked at $40 pp during a sale). Not very friendly of Celebrity. We should all get on the phone and complain. We will be dining in the MDR that night which is fine by me. We have reservations at Tuscan Grille two other nights of our cruise but this certainly has put a bad taste in my mouth. I’m sure there’s something in the ‘fine print’ that they can change on us but not very good guest relations nonetheless.

At least we will get more than a three course meal and 4+ times the choices for each course in the MDR 🤪🐷

My boyfriend wants to wear swim trunks when we board tomorrow so he can head straight to the pool. I said it’s not appropriate. This is an American flag swimsuit! He wants me to ask on CC if other people wear them onboard. I said bring a change of clothes and then put the swimsuit on. Thoughts?

Wear the swim trunks. It's your vacation, not anyone elses. My husband and I wear ours under our clothes... Because the rush is to get to the hot tub with a drink in hand and start vacation asap!!! 🥂

  9. I am looking at a few different options for an Alaska July 2020 cruise on Celebrity. I wanted to know if any one had experience doing any of the below excursions as I am trying to figure out the main difference between each above and beyond what is in the cruise planner descriptions.

    White Pass Scenic Railway

    • Climb aboard the White Pass & Yukon Route Railroad, build in 1898.
    • Sit back in a restored vintage railcar as you wind through the majestic Alaskan wilderness.
    • Follow the same route take by stampeders during the legendary Klondike Gold Rush.

    Best of Skagway

    • Travel the White Pass and Yukon Railway, following the footsteps of miners who travelled into the mountains on foot.
    • Discover the incredible beauty of British Columbia’s Tormented Valley and Pitchfork Falls.
    • Immerse yourself in gold rush life at the Gold Rush Trail Camp where you’ll learn how to pan for gold.
    • Savor a delicious meal of wild Alaskan salmon, baked chicken, rice pilaf, salads, baked beans, cornbread, and dessert.
    • Sip a glass of champagne at the famous Red Onion Saloon.

White Pass Railway & Klondike Highway Journey

    • Experience the beauty of the Yukon’s White Pass Summit by both train and motor coach.
    • Relive the history of Alaska’s Gold Rush era, following in the footsteps of the early gold seekers, as you ride the White Pass Railway and climb the same route as Gold Rush Stampeders.
    • Journey 20 miles from tidewater to the summit of the White Pass - a 2,865-foot elevation.
    • Soak in the magnificent panorama of mountains, gorges, waterfalls, tunnels, trestles, and historic sites from the comfort of a vintage railcar.
    • Learn about the significance of the White Pass & Yukon Route Railroad, built in 1898 during the Klondike Gold Rush and regarded a Historic Civil Engineering Landmark.

    Thank you for your help

  11. We did the Destiny in January of that year.

    • San Juan PR
    • Charlotte-Amalie St. Thomas, USVI
    • St. John, Antigua
    • Pointe-a-Pitre, Guadeloupe
    • Fun Day at Sea
    • Oranjestad, Aruba
    • Fun Day at Sea
    • Fun Day at Sea
    • San Juan, PR

We had a great time on the ship.

In St. Thomas we shopped at Charlotte-Amalie in the morning. We went to a liquor store an had several shots. Then we browsed around for a while. We had an excursion to Trunk Bay in St. John USVI in the afternoon.

In Antigua, we found a taxi driver who drove us all around the island. He showed us all the highlights of the island. We even saw Eric Clapton's yacht in English Harbour. In the afternoon, we had a snorkeling trip on a catamaran. After snorkeling, we went to a beach to swim for an hour. We had a great crew on the catamaran. Since it was a Carnival excursion, they held the ship for us as we were late getting back.

Guadeloupe was a little disappointing. It was storming on the north side of the island. We were supposed to go to an island there, but went to one on the south side. I refer to it as Gilligan's Island. The beach was fair at best. The crew on the catamaran was fantastic though. It was the highlight of the island.

The first day at sea was a needed break. We took the time to spa and rejuvenate before Aruba.

Aruba was the crown jewel of the cruise. We did an island tour in the morning. One of the stops was a natural arch on the north shore. It was really neat to see. It fell a few years later. After lunch, we went to Palm Beach to relax. It is a very nice beach. After dinner, we went to the port to hit Carlos and Charlie's for a cold one.

The two days at sea were fun. The ship had enough activities to keep you entertained.

In San Juan, we had a late flight, so we had time to do a city tour. The tour was nice. Unfortunately, we had a bad tour guide. Instead of having Puerto Rican food for lunch, we went to Taco Bell. She thought she was the greatest tour guide in the world. Reality needed to strike back. Anyhow, the tour was fine despite the guide. We went to a hotel on Condato beach to relax and wait for our flight.

We had a great dining room staff. Back then, breakfast, lunch, and dinner was in the dining room.

    Great! Thanks so much!
