  1. I have the 8” O2 cool and another. It’s whatever you want to pack. At Fort Lauderdale on our last cruise I saw one guy with a full size box fan! No kiddin. No worries. [emoji41]

  2. We rented one a couple weeks ago and agree this is the best way to see the island. It's awesome. Handy tips though, 1, take water 2, sunscreen. 3. Facilities are non existent almost, in more remote areas so just get back in tune with nature. [emoji41]

  3. Google Harv and Marvs, and book a whale watching trip. Best money we spent. Ask for Captain Liz! It’s awesome. We rented a car and checked out Mendenhall glacier as well. Great pics of bears fishing etc. H@M is not princess sponsored but it’s much more personalized than crowding on a bus and boat with 50 others. We would do it again in a minute.

It’s impossible to get lost! One main road north. Our favorite cruise hands down.

  4. My opinion would be to take Princess north from Vancouver, (saves the Glaciers for last) and get one balcony, and one inside cabin opposing it across the hall. At least one balcony is a must for Alaska. It’s simply an awesome cruise regardless, but that is what I would do in your position. That way everyone has some balcony time if they wish. (They will). Most of your time on ship will be on the upper decks taking it in but you can enjoy the views from the balcony at others. We hope to return in September! It’s beautiful.

  5. All of the above are excellent and it's hard to go wrong! Our favorites were the whale watching in Juneau with Harv and Marvs, and we rented a car in Skagway and drove up into the Yukon Territory. The Yukon is absolutely amazing. It's an awesome trip. You will love it no matter which you choose.

  6. All of corporate is pushing more "e business" now and it's everywhere. Most if not all on this forum can go to amazon and spend all they want, daily. Same with the big box stores etc. 99 percent have no issues.

With that said it an obvious fact that Carnivals website is a dumbed down, clumsy, attempt. If Home Depot had the same website they would go broke and we would all buy stock in Lowes!

We just wouldn't see the number of negative posts if if wasn't the truth. The complaints we see here HAVE to be a fraction of the website traffic.

I love Carnival and plan to book again soon but I hate that website and it is simply not user friendly. New site, old site, and so on......just bad Web management.

  7. IMO a TA is great for booking flights and cruises and wrapping it all up on major trips. Such as our Alaska cruise on Princess. It saved us a ton on flights. But... If you just plan to drive to port on a Carnival cruise we see no benefit with the TA. We know a PVP with Carnival and on our last 2 cruises they just key it in like anyone can. But the the PVP can assist with info on room location etc. if you aren't familiar with the ship. Hope this helps and have fun and relax[emoji3]

  8. We did room service a few times on our trip on the Magic in April and were very impressed. If you want to avoid the Lido a good ham and cheese sandwich and a salad is great for a light lunch. We loved it. It was a deli Sammy thick with meat. Pizza was good as well. We tried the Red Frog food and can't say it was bad but it just didn't fit our taste.

We feel very confident ordering off the room service menu.

  9. We are beer drinkers with an occasional Miami vice thrown in the mix, and we have tried cruises with, and without Cheers. Our opinion is the savings are not worth it. Its nice to go to the Serenity Deck and order a bucket and kick back. Want a few to take back to the room? No problem, order all you want. Room service will hook you up as well, if you don't have Cheers. There is no argument Cheers is less expensive but we don't get to do this near enough, therefore we prefer to go by our own rules. Unless you just go crazy it really hasn't been that much higher cost without Cheers in our experience. Lot less hassle without it for sure. We are done with it.

  10. I think that's chancing it to do a 12 days for the first time. What if you found out it was not for you after 3 days? That's just 1/4 of the way. I would say shorter cruises are ideal for first timers.

With you on that one. 12 days straight right off the jump for the first time is definitely an all in gamble. Kind of like leasing a car, hard to,get out of it if you don't like the ride.

  11. My first time was with the wonderful woman who is now my wife of 22 years! We weren't actually married yet, but at the time we just went ahead and did it. We were both a bit anxious more so than nervous. We knew we were gonna want to do it for a long time.

Looking back from that day we never regretted it. It was awesome on has been since.

We are actually going to do it again on the Magic next weekend! I'm a lucky guy[emoji6]

  12. The hassle of making repeated back to the bar when you want to hang out on the balcony is the main reason we are NOT getting cheers on our cruise in April. We love the balcony in the evenings and without Cheers I can go get two buckets on ice at a time. Also I stand in line 1 time at the bar instead of 8. Will I pay more? YES. Do I care? No[emoji3]

We don't gamble or do high dollar excursions and enjoy not being tied down by Cheers.

  13. First off congrats on the cruise! I have tip to offer on the excursions. We are on the Magic sailing 4-8 and had previously booked a couple excursions that we changed our mind on. We recently cancelled them and the money was back on my CC in a couple days. Point being to grab them now knowing you can adjust plans as you go. No big deal. But get faster to the fun as soon as you can! We love it. There is honestly enough info on this site alone to answer all your questions you will have as you prepare. Don't forget to check out ports of call and home port boards here! This will be our first on the Magic so we will be watching your thread. Take care and half the fun is the planning!

  14. We rented a car and let loved every mile of it. Stopped at every turnout and took a LOT so pics, some of which hang on our wall. The Yukon Territory is beautiful! Loved just going at our own pace. (Which is much faster than group setting). We haven't done the train but never will after our drive. The road goes up the opposing side of the ravine and you basically take the same route but travel as you wish. Just take your passport to cross into Canada. Its an awesome drive!!
