  1. Currently aboard Prima, ship is beautifully designed. So far everything has been great, it has taken a little but to get used to the layout compared to the breakaway ships we’ve been on.

We’re in the Haven, and it’s stunning. The private elevators are helpful. Our room is nice plenty of storage and the interior design is nice. The only negative so far has been the closet doors in the middle of the night they open and close as the ship rocks. There is magnets that hold the, shut and looks like they added velcro to the door jam, but the doors are fairly heavy it can’t hold them. I will address it with the butler to see if they can do anything to stop them from opening and slamming. Haha.

  2. We have done a total of 4 cruises all on NCL in the HAVEN. (BREAKAWAY AND ESCAPE all in the Caribbean)

I want to do something different and considering MSC Yacht Club.  I want the May cruise in Barcelona on Seaview, and the only Avail is the inside yacht club room, which I can live with.

I am nervous booking since I don't know MSC. I've heard mixed reviews but try to take with a grain off salt.  I like the idea of MSC because of the Yacht Club and what it includes.  I know the ship will be totally different than a US cruise.

1.Will the menus etc be in English etc? Or since its a more European ship will we have any difficulties?

Question about the YC drink package that's included, I see MSC has a multitude of drink packages, can anyone answer if I book a YC room can go to any bar and get any drink I want up to $12? I see the fine print says

    • Unlimited drinks in all MSC Yacht Club venues, including the mini-bar in your suite, and complimentary beverage selection in all onboard bars and restaurants (according to the drink selection available in the different venues)"

So beverage selection, so will I only get a certain beverage in other restaurants on other parts of the ship?

Any tips I should know before booking? The 8 day cruise inside YC room is in my budget which I like.

  3. Whats the fastest way to get to the Grotto Resort & Spa from the Royal Navy Dock yard? Coming in Mid may for a cruise and have a massage booked late morning. Taxi all the way there or take Ferry To Hamilton then taxi?

I think I answered own question. I see NCL offers a FREE ferry to St Georges when ship is in port. I'll just hail a taxi once in St Georges to the resort which is super close by. https://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=2609771

  4. So I received offer to bid on upgrade (Sailing May 13th to to Bermuda on Escape out of NYC) and option's for upgrades are for

The Haven Deluxe Owner's Suite with Large Balcony (H2)

The Haven Owner's Suite with Large Balcony (H3)

but when I check NCL's site and make it like I am "booking a new cruise" it shows sold out for both of these rooms.

Are they saving these for upgrades? Why would they say hey we have these available lets bid for an upgrade, but when I go to mock book a cruise, it shows these two rooms sold out?

  5. I've posted my review on CC (might still be pending). Anyone have questions? I'll try my best to answer.

We did not make it to GSC. Waves weren't terrible, but apparently just bad enough. We sailed straight on to Nassau and arrived there at noonish. Did an overnight there.

P.S. I didn't save all my dailies, but I can upload the few I do have tomorrow (Tuesday).

How were the wines at the wine bar? (I hope you drink wine) I've heard They were "average"

  6. As the title suggests, the Breakaway restaurants vs Haven restaurant, is the Haven better?

If so, is it better in the way some people find the premier dining better than the fare-inclusive dining?

Personally we did not find any of the premier dining options to be significantly better than the ships complimentary dining options. So is the Haven restaurant similar in this regard? Where it might better but that difference is negligible.

I'm hoping to have a passable breakfast in the Haven. For me, breakfast is the best meal of the day. Eggs, toast, pancakes, bacon, sausage, hashbrowns/homefries, fruit and coffee. All favorites of mine and all were a disappointment in every restaurant we tried. Cold, overcooked, no flavor and unworthy of the real syrup I packed for the trip!

So, will my Haven experience mirror this? I will skip breakfast if that's the case.

I'm hoping for objective replies, not just posts from people shocked or offended by my breakfast expectations. We each have our own standards of what we like and dislike.

On a related note, I was warned from another pancake connoisseur to expect disappointment but that was limited to the ships non Haven options.

Have sailed on BA twice. Both times in the HAVEN in a Spa Suite. Loved every aspect of HAVEN. From priority boarding to your own butler, free room service and quieter pool area, the main pool I remembered gets packed. The Haven restaurant is great, right in the middle near the Haven courtyard, pool, etc. We dined in the Haven restaurant many times, especially for breakfast every day of our cruise. I thought the food was great. I think it was in line with the specialty restaurants. Breakfast was good, fresh coffee, they even had a "buffet" area during breakfast with fresh meats, cheeses, pastries, cereal, fruits in martini glasses, breads etc. Yes it would be nice if they offer a a special or two for bfast, lunch, and dinner, but its the same menu every day. The eggs Benedict was good, also had the steak and eggs, i remember it being yummy. Don't forget: the HAVEN will also have menus for the other restaurants. Your waiter will gladly show you the other menus and get whatever you order. I think the only thing they won't get from another restaurant is raw seafood.

I'm booking a room in Haven for may on the Escape, can't wait.

  7. Hi Ya'll. I would like some advice, I am looking for a cruise in March for my partner and I. Were in our 30's and I we have sailed twice in our live, both with NCL 2x in the Haven Spa Suites for an avg of $6,300 for both of us. Included in that we get priority boarding, tender, concierge, butler, unlimited beverages, unlimited spa access, unlimited access to its private HAVEN restaurant, courtyard with pool, and 3 nights at specialty restaurants. Pretty much first class.

I'm looking at a bunch of different "first class areas" of ships, Celebrity, RCL, including HAL Koningsdam, this ship looks beautiful. I'm trying to figure out what is the best route to go. I could get a Signature suite for about $7,300 for us both but from what I see that doesn't include priority boarding, butler, access to specialty restaurants drinks etc.

I would have to move up to the Neptune Suite for $10,818 for us both, to get priority boarding, dining reservations, concierge etc. But that still doesn't seem to include unlimited beverages. I've come to the conclusion that NCL is a steal for what you get in their suites for the amount you pay. I've only cruised twice and both on the NCL Breakaway in HAVEN and loved it didn't have to worry about buying any food or drink.

    1. If we stick with a Signature suite, do you think we'll be happy with that and a beverage package? The price is within our budget. I don't want to spend more than 7k on a cruise for 10 days. The Signature suite room size is fine, even the Vista suite looks great. But If we choose one of those, is spa access included? What is the price for specialty restaurants and beverage package? I don't see it listed on their website.

I love the newness and clean lines of the Koningsdam. What is HAL's average clientele? We love wine, food and a nice spa area to relax, we don't need crazy zip lines on the ships although I wouldn't mind them but RCL looks more towards kids and families.

  8. We did NCL Haven (Owner's Suite) on the Jewel last summer and we did RCCL Sky Class (Crown Loft) on the Oasis in November. We enjoyed the perks of RCCL much more than NCL. With the Suite Lounge, we found we didn't need the drink package. We did buy the 3-night dining package and ate at the Coastal Kitchen the other nights.

The Oasis vs Jewel comparison was so completely different for us- a smaller, older ship compared to the Oasis that has so much to offer. I think if you did a Sky Class suite you would be happy and feel it was comparable to the Haven on NCL. But that's just my two cents...

Thanks for the info. That's what we did on NCL, a Haven Spa Suite and you got unlimited access to the ships spa and unlimited visits to Haven's private restaurant, it also included free beverages anywhere and 3 nights at a specialty restaurant.

I'm looking at a April cruise now out of Fort Lauderdale on Harmony and they have a Sky class suite available (Grand balcony suite) and its going to be $7,717 for two. If I go with that option, it says I have all day access to Coastal Kitchen, and free bottled water (upon arrival - whoopty do) The suite lounge is essentially a bar within Coastal Kitchen and it serves free drinks all day for suite guests with a little buffet? I want to clarify this: We would get free beer/wine/cocktails during it's hours 11-11 even tho we don't have a drink package?

  9. I've sailed twice in my life both with NCL in the Haven, Haven comes with everything included, unlimited drinks, dining etc. I'm looking at RCL Anthem of the Seas for an Early May cruise and I am trying to pick a room and love the "Haven" all inclusive experience.

I'm looking at the "Royal Suite Class" I see that the difference between the Jr. Suite $2,370pp & Grand Suite $4,084pp is "all day access to coastal kitchen". Is that the suite classe's private restaurant and is it worth it to get all day access? But these two suites don't include unlimited beverages / unlimited dining and I can't find how much that package is per person to add on. (why I am posting)

I have to pick Grand Loft Suite $7,748pp to get complimentary unlimited dining and beverages. I can get a room on a similar cruise iteniary / date on NCL Breakaway in the Haven for $1,999pp and get unlimited dining / beverages, a butler and unlimited access to its own private restaurant. I'm trying to understand the price difference of $1,999pp vs $7,748pp for the same amenities. It seems like RC is pretty pricy.

But in any case I can't find an option to add beverages / dining when picking the RC cruise even when filling out my information.

  10. I was in spa suite April 2 sailing to Bahamas in room 14738 it was below gym and sometimes you could hear people on the treadmills. :-/

But as far as the Haven / Spa suite. Definitely worth it! Haven service was fantastic. Between it's own restaurant with amazing food, thermal spa access, go for it.
