  1. Have so much fun! I've been on all kinds of cruises and stayed in a few of the best hotels - my windstar cruise was my most favorite trip. It wasn't the fanciest place or the most luxurious stateroom, it was the sum of all the little details and kindness of the staff, the smaller relaxing ports, never waiting in line and generally feeling "special". My husband and I laughed and carried on like we were kids again!

  2. I was on the star legend last March (basically the same ship) and packed magnetic chip clips for the same reason! They definitely worked! I can't remember exactly where I hung them, but I definitely used 2 or 3!

Get ones with good magnets, sometimes they slide down if your packet is too thick. Have fun!

Hi- I realize I'm a little late with a reply, but my husband and I renewed our wedding vows on the Star legend last march when it was docked in Montserrat. I though it was extremely inexpensive for what we received. The price alone was more than acceptable for the bottle of champagne and a beautiful cake. The captain performed the ceremony and he wrote it all himself. It was so thoughtful and beautiful. Later, they delivered a copy of the "vows" and service printed and in a folder to our stateroom. They "televised" the pictures on the stateroom tv's and we felt like celebrities the whole week. I could not recommend this experience more. It was so very special. Best wishes!b6e99fcdb234bc657b5f4a09010b8034.jpg08ef292cb0e56f32f43448c70c16d949.jpg

  4. I thought I would shed some light on this discussion, because I, too, had questioned this whole policy. I had a very enlightening talk with a Windstar rep that kind of cleared everything up for me. So I thought I would share...

In December, My husband and I booked a cruise at a base price of $1944/pp for the lowest guarantee category. We did it under the star perks offering and got the drink package included.

A few weeks later, I noticed the flash sale on the lowest category (not the guarantee) and it was $200 less per person, so I called.

The Windstar agent told me that the sale has to be on the same category of booking, and my particular booking class had gone up $600 so I wasn't eligible.

However, he said, even if it hadn't, I still wouldn't have been eligible for the credit.

I would have to take the total of the two base prices: 1944x2=$3888

And then subtract the value of the perk (in our case $870) = $3,018.

The cost of the 2 flash sale base prices would have been $1744x2=$3,488 which is actually $400 MORE than what I had originally paid.

What I found most helpful is that the agent went on to explain that the Windstar guarantee is really supposed to offer a comfort level to potential travelers to book whenever they want - even if there's not a sale going on - knowing that if the price gets reduced, they will be compensated.

From a business perspective, it's smart. Windstar encourages the early booking and gets the reservation and the cash flow. And the travelers get the cruise and room they want because they're doing it early.

After grasping that, I realized that while I'd love the extra $400 credit on my account (who wouldn't?!), the guarantee wasn't really meant for me because I already got a great deal.

I hope that helps - it helped me understand.
