I know this topic has been addressed many times, but is it easy to get a taxi outside the gate of the port and hire a driver for a few hours. Would it be better to go on a City tour w/ an operator like Marysol? Wife and I don't speak Spanish, but also don't like the idea of having someone dictate our schedule. Also, hate to book a tour if the weather turns bad that day.

Anybody ever taken a taxi from the port to cockburn and just hang out in town and go to the beach in town? If so, what is it like in the town? Enough to keep you busy while in port?

Anybody ever visit Bohio Resort and hang out for the day? Do you have to pay to use the facilities?

Is there any other options besides using a taxi to get from Amber Cove to Puerto Plata? Is there a bus stop outside the gates? We just want to go to the town and walk around by ourselves and come back when we are ready.

Is it possible to take a taxi to the zipline from the Port to where the monkeys are at? Holland does not offer this excursion, but I did find a company called Country World that will pick us up at the Port. Possible to just get off the boat and walk to a company that offers this excursion instead of pre-booking?

My wife and I are arriving in St. Thomas on 3/1 @ 7:00 am. We'd like to take a two hour tour of the island and have them drop off us off downtown afterwards. We depart at 2:00 pm so we don't have a lot of time on the island. Possible to get a taxi when we dock and have them give us a tour? Looked at the tours on-line and notice that they do not start until 9:00 am.

Arriving in Roadtown on 2/28 via the EPIC @ 8 am and was wondering if we can prebook the ferry @ 9 am to Virgin Gorda w/ Speedys or do we just get in line and hope to make it?
