that 'pack a lunch' post was the basis for my thread about taking food and drinks on and off the ship. should have known better after now reviewing:cool:

We generally do not eat off the ship anyway...I would just like to know about the condition of the ports? We are sailing Jan. 21

Has anyone taken any excursions while docked in ST. Thomas or St. Maarten?

We just got back and I have all the patters. There are two formal nights, the first is on the third night and the second is on the 6th night. There were 3 production shows, Sweet Soul Music (I did not see it), Fiera (second time I saw it - very good) and Born to Dance. Born to Dance is the second in installment of the Stephen Schwartz shows. I may be the only one but I was not that impressed.

 

I'm not sure what else you would like to know so feel free to ask questions.

 

Are you going to St. Maarten? We went to Antigua as St. Maarten was not yet open. I understand it is open now.

We are going to St. Maarten...and St. Thomas leaving FLL on Jan 21....This is our 4th trip to these islands expecting lots of palm trees with no palms. I have read the roads on these islands are still not in very good repair. Others say not to eat off the boat because of tainted water on the islands. Anyone have any input?

We sailed the Mexican Riviera last winter and really enjoyed the ports...however the trip down and back was a little cool and rainy. We are toying with the idea of canceling our 8 Day Eastern Caribbean leaving January 20 to sail the Riviera again. However some in our group are very concerned regarding the U.S. State Department travel advisory for the Mexican Riviera. I am not concerned because we will not venture off the beaten path. Does anyone have any thoughts regarding these advisories?

Actually, Crown Princess is doing an 8-day itinerary to the ABC islands, with 2 sea days each way. Zudora, it looks like you are on the 8-day Eastern itinerary that alternates with that and a 5-day Eastern. I don't know that they would change the 8-day Eastern to a Southern one too, or just substitute ports. I guess you'll just have to wait to see what Princess lets you know.

Antigua still looks okay...and Amber Cover is still a possibility however St.Thomas and St. Maarten/Martin are very questionable. Perhaps we will be diverted to Grand Cayman. Just don't want to go to Cozumel. We are platinum cruisers with Princess so we are aware of what might happen....Do not want to make our final payment without knowing just where we are going. We have never been diverted and only not been able to port once! We have always been very lucky! We shall see!

Update from Princess: 9/18/17 Caribbean Ports

We thought about rescheduling on the 8 day ABC cruise...we are platinum cruisers...if we rebook however we will lose all our perks!

Good afternoon. We are booked on the January 20, 2017 on the Crown out of Fort Lauderdale. We were wondering if there are any updates regarding the port changes. I have read all the Princess updates. Does anyone have any thoughts regarding the port changes? We were wondering if they might divert us to the ABC Islands?
