  1. I am looking forward to their versions of chocolate soufflé!! Last two cruises have been on Oceania and not a soufflé in sight[emoji22] I just had to make do with their magnificent food instead LOL

In the past Princess has been so kind as to make an extra chocolate soufflé for myself and companions on a second night. Unfortunately this time it's just myself and my husband who does not eat it!

  2. Personally would rather get a drink credit voucher from them for one or two free drinks, then the list of drinks they are giving away right now for 6 1/2 dollars. There is not a drink on that list that I would purchase. I don't particularly care about food served prior to dinner as I don't want to eat that much anyway. I enjoy my benefits and other cruise lines, that give me a free cocktail or two! I am still a couple of cruises away from elite as they changed how many cruises it took a couple years ago. Our next cruise is a 15 day one, but it is not worth throwing in a short cruise or anything like that to get to elite. We are capable of going to the self serve laundry and doing our own clothes once during this trip. Most likely I have a feeling they will offer at least one deal on a bag of laundry. I will try to stop and bring on a couple of bottles of wine for the cabin. The older I get the less I drink LOL

Ironically at this point I'm more interested in buying the coffee card[emoji4]

  3. Most TA's will give you the dollar amount after the sailing. It is correct that only the first two in the cabin will count towards the 32 passengers. If you have 16 passengers you will get credit for one free person. It is up to the individual group to decide if the one person gets to go free, or two free people etc. or you can simply divide the money back amongst everyone that went on the trip. It is not used as onboard credit. Of course it is up to the individual travel agent if they wish to do OBC right before you sail to each individual cabin. Definitely work with a Cruise only travel agent.

  4. I last sailed on the Star four years ago and it was in perfect condition. My next sailing is not scheduled until after the drydock! Certainly hoping it will be up to what we are used to from Princess. Our past two Cruises have been on Oceania, and we have been quite spoiled.

  5. A group booking usually qualifies you for one free person for every 16 people booked. So if you have 32 people going you will have one free cabin, usually in the category that most cabins are booked in. Also when the group is taken out by at TA, there could possibly be additional group amenities. Usually there is one main person that is the contact to the travel agent however that does not mean that each person could not individually talk to the travel agent and give them their own credit cards for payment. Much better to book as a group rather than individual bookings where you will get no perks!

  6. We will be arriving same day at 10 AM, there are just two of us. Wondering if taking Uber or Lyft Will be the most cost-effective way to get to the ship. I do want to make a quick stop at a liquor store to purchase wine. TIA for your input. Because of wanting to stop for wine, I was not really thinking of using SuperShuttle.

  7. I did the Med on a 13 day cruise when I was in my mid-50s. The sailing was on Royal Caribbean. All ages on the cruise. The big thing to remember is that when it is a port intensive itinerary, you will be getting up early every single day as these are not ports that you want to skip. That means coming back to the ship, having dinner and heading to bed much earlier than you would on other cruises. Oceania offers you the best cuisine I have found on all of my sailings which of numbered over 100! Oceania has passengers that are quite easy to meet and wonderful to speak with on all topics. We are off on our second cruise with them this week!

It is true that you tend to eat lunch off the ship on a European itinerary, or at least gelato, to hold you over LOL. Nothing beats the food that is served on Oceania!

  8. The most surprising thing to me turned out to be that Red Ginger definitely was my favorite of all the restaurants. I actually did not even want to eat there, but did because of all the positive comments here on CC. We never had dinner at Terraces, but did eat there every day for breakfast and lunch. I will say the biggest disappointment was the Mexican buffet at lunch. Many offerings although most did not live up to expectations. Next time they offer that I will be having surf and turf at waves! Food is always available and plentiful, and definitely better than any I've had other Cruise Lines! Next week will be Regatta, so unfortunately they will not have the Red Ginger[emoji22] hoping to find the sea bass in MDR!

  9. This California girl was perfectly happy with lox and bagels for breakfast. Of course I always had an eggs Benedict and the sticky buns along with it. I don't even like breakfast food LOL believe me I don't think anybody starves at breakfast. I am sure it is up to each of us to decide as my twin sister did not like their lox!

We are sailing again next week and I cannot wait to eat everything in sight! I have already noted to myself I need to eat more lobster! We sailed on the Marina in February and the next one is on the Regatta, so I will miss not having Red Ginger, as it turned out to be my favorite of all the restaurants. Thankful that I have lost the weight I gained on the first cruise plus an extra couple of pounds. I am ready to indulge!!!

  10. After collecting luggage is there somewhere you can eat breakfast before you get transfers over to Port of Miami? Seems like it would be easier to just eat in the airport and then grab UberXL cars to transfer five people to the pier.

If you cannot do this, I would appreciate any suggestions of where we can all go to a hotel that has a restaurant where we could leave our luggage at a bell station while enjoying a leisurely breakfast?

Thank you and advance for any suggestions.

  11. The picture shown is the bottle that we had. I am going to guess that is what we will have in our cabin when we arrive on the Regatta. We were not able to upgrade to a penthouse, so I may just be sharing this with friends. I am sure someone will enjoy it. I can always go purchase a martini LOL as long as I'm on the cruise, water is fine!

  12. Also remember travel insurance protects you for things like having to be flown home by helicopter or special airplane, once you were outside of the United States if you have Medicare, and a secondary such as Atnah or Blue Cross they do not pay for you. It is much more than an actual travel insurance policy. I myself have had to use it for trip cancellation at the last minute on two occasions. Both times because traveling companions we were going with could not go. Make sure that you are cross referenced with whoever you were traveling with not just the person in your cabin! Just last year we had to cancel a cruise less than two weeks prior because my best friend passed away and none of us could go. Once you have invested more $1000 into your trip, it is highly advisable to take out travel insurance! Peace of mind is worth everything. Yes there are some hoops to jump through including in our case providing death certificate but getting all our money back was well worth it.

  13. I agree with Jancruz, my sister and girlfriend both live in California and each have annual policies through Allianz. They were formally Access America! You can take it out it anytime & goes annually from the date you take it out.

  14. Thank you so much for your responses!

We were just on the Marina in February, and another couple who were sailing in a PH cabin gifted us their bottle of champagne as they did not drink it. I would normally enjoy Champagne, found it extremely sweet and not for my particular tastebuds. Depending on whether we upgrade our cabin tomorrow from CC to PH I guess I will take our bottle to dinner and have our friends share it and hopefully they will enjoy.

I am hoping that I will have a butler, on this trip, and now I could have something for him to do! I'm actually hoping that I get a larger cabin!
