  1. Don't just look at flight prices; you have to look at flight times, also.

I wouldn't even consider this, it's not possible to do in one day. You have to take a flight to Eleuthera and then take a boat to Harbour Island. You don't say the date you'd want to go, but for most days, looks like the earliest outbound flight is 6:45 am, and they arrive at ELH at 11:45 am. The outbound flight leaves at 12:30 p.m. They all connect in Miami. For other days, outbound flight is nonstop, but it leaves at 2:00 p.m. And return is 2:50 p.m. Which of course, wouldn't even give you time to get off the plane.

There's no way you have time to do this. Save it for a land trip.

We chose a cruise with a concert (Jeff Foxworthy) and that's why I was considering this. We will be docked from 7am to 11pm. Concert starting at 9.

  2. We have done enjoyable excursions in Nassau- aside from Atlantis, we went to the Melia on Cable Beach and to the Blue Lagoon. Both of those have fine beaches.

There are many short excursions too- such as Ardastra Gardens and Zoo, the Pirates' Museum, and Graycliff Hotel.

All of these places have websites for info on prices etc.

Did you arrange your own transportation to Cable Beach? That's what I'm concerned about.

  3. So I'm on Carnival reading reviews of different excursions. We just wanted to pay for Beach days and just relax for a few hours. Out of 30+ pages, I got about 18 deep, and I'm not intrigued enough about the options.

So where the heck can I look up other things to do that aren't offered by Carnival? Can I just walk of the ship and there's a beach there that I can lay on? How does any of this work?

  4. All good advice from previous poster... one additional note? If you use the Carnival Hub (an app you download to your smartphone then activate when you get onboard) you can even see your account in the app on your phone at any time during the cruise. It's a free app, but there is a charge of $5 if you want to be able to activate the Chat function in the app, which allows you to message others in your cabin.

If I'm traveling with another couple but we're not sharing a room (they are neighboring) could I chat with them, too?

  5. So I selected to prepay for gratuities upon booking my cruise. I work with a few women who cruise about every other year. Sometimes with Royal Caribbean, but mostly with Carnival.

They told me that at the end of the cruise, you get a receipt under your door with gratuities for everything, including towel replacement and more. One lady said once with Carnival that it was like $300. My prepaid gratuity amount doesn't equal what I'm being told the amount could be, and they said I would be forced to pay the difference upon leaving the ship.

I looked on Carnival and their FAQ page debunked what I was told, but also said that some things, in fact, are not included. Such as alcoholic beverages. Maybe I'm looking in the wrong places on their website, but I can't find specifics.

    Any help? Advice? Suggestions?

  6. So I sailing on June 17 - June 24 on Carnival Freedom. I've heard of Harbour Island and the pink sand beaches. The flights to the island are $140 pp round trip, so super cheap, and only about 20 mins.

We are docked in Nassau for a long while that day, and I was wondering if anyone ever ventured off to Harbour Island? Of course it's not an excursion offered by Carnival, so I would be planning it on my own.

It's my first time cruising. Should I not over complicate it? The beach in the pictures are STUNNING!

  7. My husband and I will be cruising with another couple on June 17 on Carnival Freedom out of Galveston. I'm ecstatic but nervous at the same time!

I've laid out all of the pricing, and I stink I've pretty much got necessities down to the penny. I have a budget for spending. We've booked our desired excursions. I'm not sure what more I can do but just wait... very impatiently!

I tried to find posts on the Carnival Freedom Role Calls but that one appears to be empty. Any other first timers going on this sailing?
