No Princess has not contacted us.  My cruise preceded the one where a coronavirus patient was identified.  At the time of my cruise testing for coronavirus was not occurring to my knowledge.    

I disembarked the Diamond Princess on the day the coronavirus passenger embarked (Jan 20).  However,  I have wondered whether any passengers on the Jan 6 - Jan 20 became ill on the cruise or have come down with an illness after the cruise - or if there has been any follow up with the passengers from that sailing.    My cabin mate was ill on the ship and is still recovering - she has not been tested for the virus and seems to be responding to antibiotics which indicates a bacterial vs viral infection.

Anyway, i can see share situations are definitely not for everyone. I've never really been in that position but was curious what's out there. I think my friend would much prefer to go with someone she knows (or that someone that can be directly vouched for by someone she knows) so probably she won't go looking for a stranger to share with.

FYI...Princess has said that if they were to take the ship out of service now they would have had to cancel many cruises & they didn’t want to upset people already booked. It requires a dry-dock & major work to fix the problem.

I can't imagine being more upset than having port visits shortened to just a few hours, air conditioning not working to par, and backed up toilets. I'd much prefer the cruise line cancel!
