  1. Thank you so much for all of your replies. It has been really helpful to hear the different thoughts. We have decided to get some US dollars for tipping those who go above and beyond on the ship, and perhaps in the speciality restaurants and spa (if we use them). Thank you again, and I hope that your next cruise is amazing! Fay

  2. Thank you so much - that was really helpful. We will definitely add a few dollars to our currency exchange - I am fond of a good strong drink! Thanks again, Fay.

With the drink package, the tip is already included. If we frequent a bar, we might add a dollar as an extra tip, and usually get pretty great service - or maybe the drinks taste stronger after a few...

If you are asking about porters, they don't receive anything from the amount we pay for gratuities. We usually tip them based on the amount and weight of our luggage. Usually about a dollar per bag, or a five if we have one handy.

Any other service that you might think tip worthy is up to you. Hope your cruise is fantastic!

  3. Hi all,

Apologies if this has been asked before, but I can't seem to find it.

We are doing a Mediterranean cruise on the Princess Majestic. We have prepaid gratuities, but we are aware that there may be occasions when we want to tip additionally on board the ship. The onboard currency is dollars, but the ports are all euros. Should we tip in dollars or euros? We are from the UK so will need to change currency and it is a bit more convenient to just get one currency (better rates for higher amounts), but it is certainly not a problem to get a few dollars if that is the expected tipping currency. Any thoughts?

As an aside, I would really appreciate any advice on services that should be tipped. It is our first cruise, and the pre-paid gratuities alongside forums saying you should tip too has left us very confused!

    Thanks,

    Fay

  4. Thank you so much for such an in-depth review! I am so impressed with all of the photos and your thoughts about the ship - my husband and I are travelling on this ship in three weeks so this has been a fantastic insight into what we can expect.

Please can I ask a quick question for the OP or any other experienced cruiser? We are doing anytime dining - does this mean that we are limited to certain dining rooms or times? Or is it literally any time, but with a potential wait if full?

    Thanks,

    Fay
