  1. My heart goes out to all of you. One comment was to get a private table, but I have to tell you that a year and a half ago we shared a table with a family with an Autistic child. And now I thank God that we did. He was just delightful and his parents were darlings. We had wonderful conversations and took lots of pic's of Connor dancing and eating his Mac n Cheese almost every night. He was just a lovely person and I wouldn't hesitate to share a table with them, or any of you with special needs children at any time. Meltdowns are meltdowns, wether or not a child is SN....and after it's over with, life goes on. No biggie for those of us who have ever been around a child that goes through this. So please, travel and if any one else has a problem with it, then it's thier loss, not yours

    Love to all

  2. I just read another review (Glory, maybe??) which had Blood Power on their trip and also said what a great band they were, and how they had everyone up on their feet!

I wonder if we would be lucky enough for them to be on our trip...

We have seen Blood Power on 4 or 5 occasions and they ROCK! I'm hoping they will still be there Nov.14th for the first cruise out of Galveston and then again on March 4th...I'm too old to be a groupie, but I haven't seen any other ship band that beats them...

  4. There are some who put 'our' standards on other countries. Progreso is what Cozumel was 25 or 30 years ago. The 'we' discovered it. I prefer Progreso over the tourist traps that most places have turned into. The people are friendly, the beach is fun and yeah, there are vendors. If you say 'no thank you' they move on.

I would live there in a minute, if I could. Some of the best food, and friendliest people.

  5. Packing to get ready to jump on the Ecstasy on Mon. On Weds. I will be having 'Rita's and Nacho's on the beach in Progreso and then a massage.

Remember folks, if you just say, 'no thank you', the vendors will move on.

Take a walk around town, you may be surprised at what you see and the people you meet. It's a friendly town and not at all like the 'Jewels of the Caribbean' where you see lots and lots of shops and nothing to really 'see'.

We were once diverted to Vera Cruz and spent the day there. Another of those little places that is unlike Coz and the others. We don't speak Spanish, they don't speak much English and we still enjoyed ourselves.

It's what you make it I guess and maybe my expectations are different from some others, but by the same token, this is their country, not mine and who am I to insist that they live by my standards? We have NEVER had a bad cruise and Progreso is becoming one of our favorite stops. It's refreshing to not see a "Diamonds International" on each corner. No, I don't have anything against DI, it's just that I would rather see the street vendors in Progreso selling food than another trendy shop.

I will be thinking of ya'll next week, while I'm wading in the water....

  6. Having been to Progreso many times on cruise ships, I will tell you that it is one of our favorite places. It's a beach spot with great food delivered to you on the beach, the friendliest people and not a dump. I resent the fact that because there is no 'Diamonds International' that people don't want to go there. It is what Cozumel was many years ago. I don't want it to happen in Progreso, as this is the real deal. Lay on the beach, get a massage, have an icy cold beverage and enjoy yourself. Talk to the locals, they try very hard to please you. Admire what they sell, and buy if you want to. You are not forced to buy anything, just smile and say 'no thank you' just as you would anywhere else.

I get so tired of people saying that Progreso has nothing to offer. They have opened up an 'exclusive beach break' and you will not get the feel of the real Progreso.

I would skip Jamaica and Grand Cayman in a New York minute. I do not want to skip Progreso...

    Just my opinion of course.
