  1. On our Lima-Papeete cruise, internet speeds varied greatly. In the rooms, the best coverage was near the cabin door because the routers are located in the hallways. Speeds were best very early in the mornings (4 am - 7 am) when there wasn’t much traffic. The more people on WiFi, the slower it is. During the day it was almost useless.

  2. Oceania cruises FP during their summer when rain is more frequent. We were told that the rains this year were heavier than normal in some parts of FP and less in others. We had beautiful weather for the Lima-Papeete cruise this January except for the last day in Papeete. One can’t predict the weather so you take your chances. We had friends who went on the Gauguin trip in early January, and they had great weather too. However, they told us that the ship is older and showing wear and that the food was not as good or varied as Oceania.

  3. We were on the 18 day cruise from Lima to Papeete on Marina in January. There were 8 sea days. We used the O-Life benefit for the $40 pp per day beverage package that offered us wine and champagne during lunch and dinner. Once on board, we upgraded to the premium package for $20 pp more per day where we could get wine, champagne and most beverages whenever the bars are open. With a glass of champagne costing almost $20 with service, the upgrade was worthwhile for us. Even with the two for one specials during happy hours, the cost of drinks ended up being $12 for a manhattan. It all depends how much you want to drink on your cruise.

  4. Whatever you do, arrive at the Lima port early, especially if you are independently arriving (without Oceania’s assistance). We were on the Lima-Papeete cruise on Marina in January and took an Uber from Miraflores to the port. We were dropped off at a transfer point where we had to board a bus that took us into the port itself. it was very confusing because there was no one from Oceania there to guide us (per Lima regulations). However, once inside the port, we were able to board the ship quickly and assistance was provided for our luggage. We boarded the ship around 11 am and that was a godsend. Passengers who arrived after 12 noon, whether independently or through Oceania, had to wait in the hot sun without cover to board the ship in very long lines. Again, this all had to do with the Lima port authority and not Oceania. Still, I’d get to the port before noon if all possible. And bring five dollar bills to tip the men who help you with your luggage.

  5. I was on Regatta in January 2017 and visited the medical center. When you sign the medical authorization form, you are provided with a two page listing of all of the medical center's fees. My regular visit cost $149 (off hours, it's $189). There's listing of all laboratory services that can be performed on the ship as well. Perhaps you can ask Oceania for a copy of this form entitled "Medical Services Bill."
