In my opinion, the best concierge level amenities is the ability to book dining and excursions earlier.  You can book excursions 240 days prior to embarkation while non-concierge level can book 180 days prior to embarkation.

For dining reservations, you can book 75 days in advance instead of 95 days in advance.

Both of these features gives you a first shot at getting the excursions and dining date/time that you would like.

There are a few lesser amenities like having binoculars in your suite.  At the moment, the other amenities are not coming to mind.  Maybe someone can post the full list.

I think you mean you can book dining reservations at 95 days out vs. 75 days out.

I guess you could say there's a by-the-bag option, but you need to hit Gold or above to get it.  I think Gold gets one free bag per 7-night segment and Platinum and up get unlimited...

That's the only reason we kept sailing Regent - we wanted that free bag of laundry!!!   LOL!!

Your "free" bag only costs you several hundred thousand $'s. I know, that's what it cost me.

    - yes, norovirus broke out last year in Alaska and continued on and off until they reached Miami where the ship was thoroughly cleaned and - yes - Serena was Captain. She was understandably concerned about it returning since we were going to a part of the world where the Mariner has had issues with Norovirus previously. While no one can prove that the no handshaking rule is the reason that we stayed healthy but shortly after Mariner left Miami to return to South America, it returned with a vengeance. Serena had strongly suggested to the Captain that boarded to continue the no handshaking policy. General Manager Andreas was so impressed that he said he will try to have the policy implemented on cruises that he is on.[/quote]

We were on the Miami-Lima leg with Captain Serena and we had a code "Red".

  4. This is my point. Never were we informed there was a list of wines to chose from. Why does it have to be a big process where they force you to taste the wine? Never were we informed there is a wine menu in the Compass Rose. But now we know for next time. That’s why Cruise Critic is helpful. I’m glad I’m able to express the experience of a first time Regent Cruiser. I also think on a luxury line the sommelier should ask what you are ordering and then suggest wines that would match nicely instead of pushing the same white and same red on all patrons.

In our eleven cruises on Regent, we have NEVER been forced to taste the suggested wine. If we don't like the wine variety, we just ask for something else

  5. TC2,

Also, Regent has never offered us $6000 to book our own domestic business/first air. It has been more like $300 each. Why the heck can't Regent give us air in North America that can be upgraded by points or cash? Nobody has ever answered this question. The need for air travel other than coach/economy is more than a matter of "entitlement". For us elderly, it is a matter of accommodation under the ADA (Americans with disabilities act). I am a 100% disabled veteran. My wife had major back surgery earlier this year and also has MS. Coach/economy seating on domestic air from the center of the US to a coast just won't do it for us. It hurts. Neither of us can get to a cruise without better seating all the way. The Federal courts have ordered the FAA to investigate whether domestic coach/economy airline seating is even safe, so as to allow exit in an emergency landing -- even for passengers without disabilities.

Actually, the air credit for the March 2018 Cruise from Bali was $6,000pp. You may never have gotten that amount on your cruises but it does exist.

  6. Here is a review from someone just below the kitchen:

"Now for my only serious complaint. We are in suite 1005 which is below the Culinary Kitchen. There is activity in that area from 7 AM till 11 PM almost daily. We have complained but the noise cannot be stopped unless they close the kitchen which they will not do. The cooking classes are only on the days at sea, but the commotion goes on when we are trying to go to sleep and starts when we are still trying to sleep."

That is not the Culinary Arts Kitchen. It is the kitchen for La Veranda/Setti Marie, thus it is in constant use every day.

  7. I'm not Wendy but do know that the specialty restaurants are not open at lunch on any ship other than the Explorer. In terms of the Mariner, they do not have the new Compass Rose menu and Signatures has not become Chartreuse yet. I believe that Mariner will get the new menu for CR in April but there is no word if Chartreuse will debut on the Mariner this year.[/quote

We are on the Mariner now, and, according to the Executive Chef, the new CR menus will be introduced on March 7.
