  1. Yes, you can get an iron. But they only let you have it for a short period of time because it is a fire hazard. So if you request one, be prepared to do all of your pressing quickly, and before you know it, the steward will be back to collect it.

Glad I took advantage of the first day pressing only special. Best money I spent on the cruise, getting everything back in time to dress up a bit for dinner on evening two. First day "cruise casual" in all dining venues meant I didn't have to worry about having the right clothes ready for the entire cruise.

I certainly appreciated the helpful input from you and others.

    Cheers!

  2. I think nowadays Cabin Stewards are responsible for more cabins so I doubt a cabin steward would be willing to do pressing. However you can send it out for pressing for a fee -- price is on your laundry bag.

Or you can ask your cabin steward or housekeeping dept to give you an iron and ironing board for an hour or so and do the pressing yourself.

Or you can spritz the clothing with Downy Wrinkle Release that you bring with you, and hang them in steamy bathroom.

Thanks@NMLady.I'm glad you posted that. Lots of people posting that you can't get an iron, but NCL says you can in FAQ's. Gordy

  3. There will be two specials, about a week apart. Weight does not matter, neither does the number of items. It is whatever you can stuff into the bag...

    Great info. Thanks NMLady!

Do the cabin attendants or their assistants offer any "pressing only" service, for clean but wrinkled shirts & pants?

It's been years since I cruised, but with a small, porthole cabin, I was able to have simple ironing done by attendant, same day, as long as laundering was NOT necessary.

That was in the days before automatic gratuities, so I tipped him especially well, though I would have been happy to pay a fee per piece.

    Cruising Sunday...

  4. Drawing cash from the casino can be charged to your on board account. You will pay a 3% fee to do so.

    Hi!

I'm sailing on NCL Getaway next week.

    1. Can you use cash in the casino? For table play? For slots? Or do you have to purchase through your Onboard Account?

    2. When you get chips in the casino through your Onboard Account covered by a credit card, do you know what sort of authorization is sent to your credit card? Is it for an NCL "purchase" OR for a "cash advance"?

    Thanks!

  5. Sounds great, right? You go to make your 2 choices on the booking, and all of a sudden there's a $223.92 "Choice Promo Service Charge". So what is free about that?! Really clever of NCL to try to sneak that by the unsuspecting prospective customer.

Cruise Critic has a good article about this:

Also, this is very similar to the comps gamblers receive at casinos: I would never think of not tipping for a free meal. In fact, I'm usually motivated to tip MORE.

I get a lot of pleasure from being able to give wait staff a 30-50% tip on the value of a free meal.

    Shared blessings.

    Peace~

    ....it might help.

    Yes, it did, thank you!

I also discovered it seems to make a difference as to which route I take on the site to make my choices.

When I simply go through all of the options for the entire cruise and choose "dining", I see the restaurants with regular prices listed.

However, when I navigate to the daily itinerary section and look at the choices, most are $0.00

The seafood restaurant still shows a $17+ charge though, which is strange since I thought it was included in the free options for the specialty dining packages.

    Cheers!

  7. On the NCL site, how does one make an advanced reservation for a specialty dining option AND apply one of the promotional credits? Initially it appears I am to be charged without an option to apply the credit. Thanks for your help.

Apologies if this is addressed in another thread. I searched but couldn't find a post where this was addressed.
