Last cruise on Anthem due to our scheduled shows and what we wanted to see we never went to MDR. Windjammer was fine had steak, seafood, and plenty of other dinner options each night

They assign both nights but you can't find out until onboard. But as soon as on ship you can change them to the 2 you wish to try. We have never had an issue changing.

We did the Canada and New England cruise in 16 on the Dawn. The whole ship is cleared through Canadian customs at the first Canada Port - this is done prior to disembarking. We had no issues as NCL gathers your passport information when you board and the information is passed to Canada Customs before you even leave the port

 

On return back to the US we hit Bar Harbor ME prior to our Boston end of cruise port so the US Customs officers came on board ship to clear everyone by hand - all they did was scan your passport and put a sticker on your room card. Once you were done with that process you were free to tender ashore. When we reached Boston we had to declare any goods bought in Canada.

 

Hint while in Canada have the items you purchased sent to your home. Then you really have little to nothing to declare. We did this with our maple syrup and crystal orders from Halifax.

We just did a 9day Canadian and New England and non of this was done. Visited each port and got off at end in NY and showed passport and that was all.

Just off Anthem last week. They don't take reservations for embarkation day so we walked up and got on with no wait! Did at sea also and port is much better.

To the OP, no jewelry or glasses allowed. You will put a fly suit on over your clothing so wear something comfortable.

You can wear glasses as long as the goggles fit over them.

Grandeur seems to have a slightly older crowd so more laid back. Smaller but staff is amazing. We had a great time and my 19 year daughters enjoyed also. Anthem not sure yet but going in September for 1st time.

We booked one last year about 9 months before cruise and they cancelled ours on the 2nd day of our cruise. We were told there was another ship at Coco cay on same day and they got first use of them

is it just me or has anyone noticed any additional fees and surcharges in their billing statement with this credit card? I always pay off my balance a few days before due date yet i still noticed additional fees and surcharges. I never had this before and it keeps up, i might cancel the card.

Personally I have not had any extra charges

It's a PDF I shared from my MS OneDrive. It has instructions for coming from either upstate NY via I-87 or from NJ on I-80 which you will be doing. I also stayed in Parsippany as another poster suggested. We stayed at the Soneseta ES Suites, and it was very nice at a very good price.

 

If you have questions about the drive after reading my document just ask. It can be helpful to "drive the route" in Google Streetview too.

We are considering a cruise out of New York on the GEM in Jan/Feb 2020 . We have sailed out of Baltimore and Banyan but never out of New York and was wondering how hard it is to get to the pier we will be driving from Ohio

did the exact same thing yesterday originally paid $42 per day per person and we had a $275 onboard credit cancelled the credit was instantly put back into our account. Then I rebook the drink package at $39 a day and ended up saving about $64
