  1. I was so scared about getting sick on our first cruise in April but I did fine. I took Dramamine twice a day. Just as a precaution and I started it the day before we got on the boat. I also brought a Sea band but didn’t use it. I’ve heard they are better than Dramamine.

  2. Looking for a good All inclusive day Pass in Cozumel. Mr Sanchos isn’t really what we are looking for as it seems more like a party. We want something quiet, with good food and good drinks. Also a nice pool for our 6 year old. We have looked into El Cid and El Cozumeleno. Does anyone recommend any other AI day passes? Just trying to find the “perfect” one!

  3. We did the bubbles last time. Never again. We drink a lot of pop too and we felt we were always hunting down pop. At the main dining room they NEVER offered to bring us anything other than water. It was like we were bothering them to get the pop. We also found that when we went to the bar to get a pop, all they did was open a can and pour it on ice. I plan to carry on 3 twelve packs of pop this time and bring it to the places with me. Easier and cheaper. If I run out I’ll drink tea, which I ended up drinking most of the time last time because of the hassle anyways.

  4. I was able to get Carnival to price match my excursion with the one offered with Autoprogreso. It saved us $38 each. If you are sailing CCL, look into their low price guarantee. The claim form is on their website.

I don’t see the Reef AI on the Autoprogresso site. Just the technomotel one?

  5. We're wanting to do Reef Club and from what I'm reading you have to book through Carnival. How do you get them to honor price matching as the day pass is available directly through Reef Club for $36 USD after peso conversion

I’m curious about the price matching too.

  6. Yes and Yes. Last year on Dream it happened to fall on formal night (or they moved form night). They had Champagne on the Lido at embark, lots of favors at MDR dinner and at two rocking countdown parties, one at NYC midnight in the Atrium and one an hour later at midnight ships time on the Lido. Also some nice freebees in the Casino.

I’m just wondering if people really dress up. When we cruised Elation last year hardly anyone really did anything for formal night. Thought maybe people went all out for NYE? I don’t want to go buy a nice formal dress to find no one dresses up even for NYE. Lol

  7. When we go to our ports, I am not sure what I should bring with us. Like Half Moon Cay...Ive seen videos of people floating with yellow floats...do they have those for people or should we bring a float of our own if we want one? Or are they something you have to rent for an additional cost?

For Nassau and Freeport I plan on just bringing a small backpack with essentials. Is there anything that I should be sure to bring with me?

  8. So, I know NOTHING about cruises other than the little bit I have seen since we've decided to take one. It is all so new and this was somewhat of a last min booking. We go in April, just recently booked. That's last min for me as I am a planner. :o

We are doing 5 days on the Carnival Elation to the Bahamas. It stops at Freeport, Half Moon Cay, and Nassau. Since this trip was kind of a last minute decision, we dont have a ton of money to spend on Shore Excursions. I should mention we are traveling with our 5 year old daughter, who has anxiety issues and mild aspergers. She is afraid of a lot of things, especially when they are new. So we are trying to find things we can do that dont cost us an arm and a leg and arent too "new" for her. Like horseback riding in the water would never work for us. I would love to do the sting ray excursion, but she is terrified just looking at pictures. She wants to do the dolphins swim, but she cant really swim well and has to wear a life jacket, and she seems scared at the idea of going in the water with them. So thats probably a no too.

We really just want to find somewhere we can sit on the beach, swim, and relax. Do we have to pay to do that? It seems like HMC we should be able to just find a spot on the beach after getting off the ship, but what about the other ports? Will we have to take a taxi to the beach? We have thought about a day pass to a resort where she can go in the pool and to the beach. But they seem so expensive for the use of a pool? Do any include food?

Do you have any suggestions for "low key" excursions that are on the cheaper side? Atlantis was something I really wanted to do but at $500 for 3 of us, I dont think we can swing that.

Also, any tips you have for crusing with someone who is a little anxious or crusing with children would be appreciated! I just like to know what to expect so I can prepare her!

    Thank you!

  9. As broberts said, you'll take a tender boat from the ship to the island. As a "heads up", the closer it gets to departure time, the longer the line will get for the tender that takes you back to the ship. And, if it's a hot day, you really don't want stand in line for 45 minutes (or more) waiting to go back. As difficult as it is to leave this beautiful beach (many call it paradise), plan to head back at least an hour ahead of time. Hope you have a great cruise!

It looks absolutely gorgeous from pictures. So our plan was to go back to the ship for meals, since this isnt a simple walk back on the ship kind of thing, we should probably plan on purchasing lunch at HMC? Do you have any recommendations of where to eat?

  10. Swim :D

There is a dock. A dock for tenders. These are boats that ferry people between ship and shore. You will walk on and off the tender.

In most other ports the ship will dock.

The pictures Ive seen it looks like you could just jump right off and walk to shore, :o ha!

That makes me nervous, is it something a lot of people get sick on? I don't do well on small boats in the ocean. Its probably a very short time?

Thanks for your help! It looks absolutely gorgeous!

  11. We liked feeding the stingrays and bicycling the island. Others have liked just hanging out at the beach in a cabana. It really depends on what you like to do.

Where do you feed the sting rays? Does that cost additional?

  12. Hi Everyone,

I am going to be cruising for the first time on Carnival Elation on April 3. It is my husband, 5 year old daughter and I traveling. I am a germophobe and I have been reading a lot about people getting sick on these ships and Norovirus being very common. I also have a lower immune system due to Lupus. Im having anxiety attacks already just thinking about all these illnesses! lol I understand there has to be some illness because of the close quarters...but is it really that bad? I should add I am a teacher and I am around sick kids all the time, this should have helped build up my immune system right? ha!

On top of this, Im worried about getting sea sick. I dont get sick in cars or on planes (I used to get a little woosy but I think it was from anxiety), I also dont get sick on small boats on a lake. But we took a whale watching tour in CA and I felt sick the whole time and half the ship was puking, including my poor mom. Is the chance of getting sea sick that great? Can you really feel the ship moving that much? I am going to go to my doctor and ask him what I can do for the sea sickness should it occur...maybe something for anxiety too :)

Just looking for opinions on the illness/sea sickness topic...is it true? Should I worry? Am I making a bigger deal out of it than necessary?

  13. Hello

I am a first time cruiser. We have never been to the Bahamas. I am wondering how long does it take to get from the Port in Nassau to Atlantis? Is it worth it?
