  1. Original poster may be a little over the top but when you're watching a game it's not fun to have the channel changed midgame and worth a normal font vent.

I'm looking forward to watching some games at Playmakers on the Oasis this week.  I've cruised many spring breaks in March and have had a blast with my family watching NCAA tournament games.  It's a great way to make easy conversation with fellow cruisers.  An awesome Duke-UCF NCAA basketball game in 2019 we watched on a cruise with fun cruisers is memory that often pops up when we talk about our past cruises.

Back to the original topic. While I agree that making the casino smoke free for the next week or two is a great idea, unfortunately the smell of stale smoke will be quite evident in the carpets and any other cloth material. To me, stale smoke is a worse smell than “fresh” smoke.

I agree that the smell of stale smoke is bad but it has never made me and my clothes smell like an ashtray like being a in a place with active smokers has.  I'm a poker player and glad most poker rooms are smoke free.

  3. Good news!!  I found them today.  I searched hours yesterday including the 'drawer' multiple times and went back to same drawer they were supposed to be in today and the envelope slipped under a drawer organizer.   I only found it by taking the drawer out and completely emptying the drawer.

I looked at my notarized copies and they are copies of the original certificate and notarized.  The date is just before our first cruise 10 years ago.  I wonder if I used them on that first cruise.

    Things I learned:

    1. I have duplicates and triplicates of their birth certificates but they were all in one place.   I am going to split them up in my house and make sure a relative has official copies also.

    2.  I should have really checked on this sooner than a week before the cruise.

    3.  I suspect like Ferry_Watcher suggested that we might have gotten on but I wouldn't want to risk it.   I talked to someone at Royal who said notarized copies are fine as long as they have a a 'seal'.  He couldn't elaborate on what 'seal' meant and it is vague enough to worry me.

    4.  Passports are silly not to have.  The cost is small compared to the cost of cruising and for the piece of mind they can give.

Thank you for all the responses and the motivation to bust my butt and get home from work early to find those documents.

  4. I'm sailing 12/26 on a closed loop from Miami on Oasis with my 3 teens and I can only find notarized copies of my kids birth certificates.   The copies do not have a raised seal and I want to make sure these are okay.  My travel agent said to check with US dept of homeland security.  I have a call in to Royal Caribbean also. My state does not make expedited birth certificate copies.

I have my passport and I know Passports for them would be better and it's irresponsible I cannot find their original certificates which I have used for many cruises before.  The combination of COVID (which I work in) and being a single dad sometimes is a lot.  I am still hopeful they will turn up.  I must not have returned them to their usual place when a kid got a driver's license this year.

The RCCL information just lists a notarized birth certificate copy and ID for kids 16 and older.  It does not mention that the copy needs to have a raised seal, but I am nervous it should.  Does anyone have any experience with this?

  5. Thank you for the idea of Caribbean Paddling!  That looks perfect for us; it turns out kayaking is one of my daughter's favorite things and we love exploring places.  We should see some wildlife too, hopefully some kayaking and at least lots of iguanas on the island where dad is going to get some lobster for lunch.

We stopped at Pinel Island with Captain Bob's and thought it was a really cool place so I am happy to be able to have some more time there.  btw, I loved Captain Bob's boat ride and would highly recommend it; my kids liked the stops but are much bigger fans of actively kayaking or stand up paddle boarding than riding in a boat.

  6. I'll be with my 3 kids, 11, 13, and 15 y/o in St Thomas on the Oasis late March on a day with 17000+ on port.

Our port time will be 8:00 am to 5:00 pm

We love active things.  Our favorite two excursions over the years have been the Baths when we stopped at Tortola and the Blue Hole in Jamaica.   Climbing things and jumping in the water from highish objects are always big hits.

We also love wildlife.  We were Captain Bob's boat there once and the kids liked it but did not love it.  Their favorite part was jumping off the boat to swim.    I think we would like seeing sea turtles up close, we saw them at a stop from Captain Bob's boat but they were far beneath us on the floor of the sea where we were snorkeling.  We are also looking for something active in St Thomas.

The rainforest adventures - Rockland Estate with the ride up to the mountain and the zip lines was my first choice although my 11 year old girl is a petite 65-70 pounds and about 56 inches tall and not large enough for everything they offer. She would have absolutely loved it; she is a real thrill seeker like her older brothers. I am scared of heights but they have helped me get over that over the years.

We are comfortable not going on ship excursions. Any ideas are welcome and appreciated.

We also love wildlife.  We have been to Coki beach and enjoyed the calm water and great easy access to seeing fish.  I think we would like seeing sea turtles up close, we have seen them once but they were far beneath us on the floor of the sea where we were snorkeling.  We are looking for something active in St Martin also.  We were Captain Bob's boat there once and the kids liked it but did not love it.  Their favorite part was jumping off the boat to swim.

  8. Update: turns out my 9 y/o DD is not heavy enough. I saw the 48 inch requirement which she is well above, but the weight requirement of 75 pounds which she is not closer to did not show up until I went to book it. The girl is tiny but a real adventurous daredevil and will be pretty bummed.

I am going to go on the zipline with my older boys. I picked 9am as the time so we could get it done early.

If anyone can answer this coaster question: It says you can take a person with you, so should I just get three coaster tickets for the 2 adults and my 13 y/o?. The 9 y/o and 11 y/o will only be able to go with an adult according to the age requirements.

  9. Will be on Labadee 8a-4p on a Freedom cruise and I know my family of 5 (2 parents with 13, 11, and 9 y/o) wants to do the Dragon's tail coaster and the dragon's breath zip line.

I have a feeling my kids will want to ride the coaster multiple times, so we are going to get the unlimited rides for that. Is the coaster more crowded early or late and does the coaster have short lines toward the end of the day?

When do you think we should schedule the zip line? It looks like all times are open now. We will be at barefoot beach when we are not doing activities and would not miss want to miss the lunch there.

My plan was to schedule the zip-line for 10am so we could have lunch and enjoy the beach afterwards and hopefully have plenty of time for the several trips on the coaster. I'm curious if anyone recommends the afternoon fore the zipline instead.

    Thank you
