  1. I love the railway trail.  This link has helped me in the past to plan out what sections I want to do https://www.bermuda-attractions.com/bermuda2_000036.htm.  I always end up doing section 6  which is on the north shore just east of Flatts (the Aquarium and zoo).  The trail at that section is not paved but the views are amazing.   I took the ferry from Dockyard to Hamilton then walked up to the central bus terminal and took the #10 bus and got off at the Crawl gas station.  I start at the Crawl gas station and finish up at Coney Island.  I then walked to Baileys Ice Cream (near Swizzle Inn and the Caves) for my treat or you can have lunch at the Swizzle Inn.  You can catch any bus back to Hamilton or ST. George's near the Swizzle Inn.    Definitely get a one or 2 day bus/ferry pass.  In September I plan to do section 1 & 2 that are in Somerset.

Yeah this is what I'm thinking.  I will be using America miles and flying first class so changing tickets won't cost anything plus there are lots of flights from Philly to either Fort Lauderdale or Miami that day.  So if I book the early flight and hit issues being first class I will have a leg up on any later flights.  But the problem there is bags could/will get lost if something happens.

My wife wants to drive (two kids 12 & 6) but to me that eats up valuable days.

My last 2 cruises (one was last week for Thanksgiving) were both out of Miami.  Both trips I flew American (using miles or through Amex travel) out of PHL the 6:00 AM ish flight day of cruise.  I know that there are at least  2 to 3 flights after mine in case something goes wrong and I always get trip insurance.  I have been cruising Thanksgiving or Christmas for over 20 years this way.  I always check on the weather a week before just in case any changes need to be made in my flights.

Sorry about not mentioning that we are a family of 4.  2 daughters aged 9 and 3.  I really did not have any ship in mind yet, as we are recently got back from the Vista in October and are planning for next fall.  As for the entertainment and food, we enjoy trying all that is offered, which is all part of the experience.

Thank you to all that responded and any more info is always helpful!

HBE4---Do you have any more info about how the restaurants are set up for the inclusive and for-fee restaurants charge??

    TIA

If you really enjoyed the Vista then try one of the Oasis class ships.  We (2 adults) have been on both the Vista & Oasis of the seas (going on Allure on Sun.) and liked both ships.  If the kids like the water slides on the Vista then go with Harmony or Symphony.  I thought the Vista had a different variety of free food venues then Oasis.

We just did the Flight Line one(superman type one ) last week and also did the other one-Dragons Breath(sit down one) several years ago Both are great but OMG-Flight Line is so much fun/exciting.The only thing with the Flight Line one is you cant see alot of scenery other than looking down at the water-which is also beautiful.Dragon Breath is great because you can really look all around you_just harder to do on Flight Line cause you are lying on your stomach.

If money is no object-do both.

I am so glad to see someone actually went on Flight Line.  I have been dying to hear about it.  We are going Thanksgiving week and have it reserved.  We already did Dragons Breath last year.  Can't wait!

  5. The ferry to St. George doesn't run on the weekends. The ferry to Hamilton does but on a weekend schedule. If you want to go to St George take the Hamilton ferry then walk 2 block to the bus terminal & take the 10 or 11 bus to St George (there are other buses but I can't remember the numbers).

This is a link to the Bermuda Gov. web site with the bus routes https://www.gov.bm/bus-routes-and-maps

This is the link for the ferry schedule http://www.marineandports.bm/Documents/Ferry/Summer%20Ferry%20Schedule%202018.pdf

  6. I sailed to Bermuda May 20-27 out of Bayonne, NJ. It was 80 when I left NJ and finally not raining. The 3 days in Bermuda (May 23,24 & 25) were absolutely gorgeous. The temp was in the high 70's low 80's without the humidity you have in July & August. The water temp at the beach wasn't too cold at all. I would go again at the end of May in a heartbeat. Also hardly any kids on the ship at that time. I have also gone to Bermuda in September and had iffy weather. Not very sunny and plenty of heavy rain/wind storms in the afternoon.

  7. We will be on the Vista Dec.16th 8 day Southern itinerary. That's why I had that link for the fun times. I didn't realize there was an 8 day Eastern itinerary. I think the Elegant nights are the same days Eastern or Southern Itineraries. It looks like you are cruising New Years Eve so that is probably the 1st Elegant night. Sounds like fun! Enjoy your cruise.

  8. What a great video! We are sailing the 8 day Southern Caribbean on the Vista in December 2017. No Havana cabins were available for 3 people so we are in a standard balcony. I always have to do some work on vacation (emails & daily spreadsheets) so I'm sorry to hear that the internet isn't that great. It was wonderful on Oasis of the Seas and my work was done in minutes.

  9. We were on the same cruise.

MDR - We had the early seating in the Silk MDR on deck 5 and had no problems with the wait staff. Maybe because it was the early seating who knows. Had a couple of large parties near our table & that made things fun. The food was pretty good too. The prime rib on the 1st night was the best.

Labadee- I was probably one of the people you heard screaming from the zip line! What a blast! Would definitely do it again.

    Falmouth - bought some coffee.

Cozumel - we did the dune buggy/snorkel excursion and had a great time. You basically drive around the island. One stop on the other side to go in the water (it was too rough) so we just took some pictures. On the road again in the dune buggies and went snorkeling back near town.

Debarkation - we did the luggage valet for $25. We put the luggage out the night before & didn't see it (or worry about it) until I landed at the airport in Philly (didn't wait long for it to come off the belt). While we were at breakfast (around 7:30) they made a number of announcements saying that Customs was having problems and they stopped debarking. I don't remember what time we got off (using the luggage valet you could get off at any time) maybe around 8:30ish but the lines at customs were long!!!!

  11. I was on Oasis the week of April 9th and had a great time too. If kids (teenagers) thought they could get away with being in the Solarium the lifeguards were on top of getting them to leave and I was very impressed with that. Also the bartenders at the Solarium were wonderful. They were making the best drinks and added a little extra. Now the drinks at the ice show & main theater were awful. No alcohol at all in them.
