  1. This was so good we featured it on our show tonight ( With credit to the OP of course )

Some people just don't stop and think about the consequences of complaining for complaining's sake.

On one cruise I saw a man going completely ape calling the purser's desk staff every name in the book because one piece of his luggage was not yet delivered.

    At only around 6:30.

When the cruise was beginning with an overnight at the embarkation port.

And due to major weather issues plenty of people were still arriving at that hour due to flight delays. So there certainly was lots of luggage still on the pier waiting to be delivered.

But don't try to fool this guy with logic. His voiced boomed throughout the atrium with language that would make a sailor blush. Finally a senior officer came out and asked him to step into his office. Which this guy refused to do.

I wish I would have stuck around to see if security was summoned. Because if they were this clown would almost certainly not have been escorted into a back office, but down the gangway and out. Getting chucked off for violating the passage contract or other ship's rules before initial sailaway happens a lot more than one hears about. If you can't be on your best behavior on day 1, they don't wanna know about day 2. And this was a 16 night cruise, and I don't remember seeing him later on.

  2. If you have ever been on a behind the scenes tour you would know that the hot water is generated from the heat of the engines ( which are always hot and running) if they ACTUALLY ever run out of hot water then that would be the least of the ships issues. it's not like at his home where there is a small hot watetankks feeding a cabin

On Norwegian Gem in February 2016 I was at guest services behind a man who was complaining about the lack of sufficient hot water in his shower that morning - insisting that he be given a credit of one day's cruise fare - -- because that is he gets a refund on his hotel/motel bill whenever there is no hot water in his room. I got the distinct impression that it happened to him quite a lot.
  3. oh lord, some people just want everything without paying don't they

On my Vista cruise last month I was waiting in the D/P/FTTF GS line and there was a couple being helped right there to the right of me. She kept asking for an upgraded cabin because she didn't like the one she had. Claimed she was getting sea sick (the ship was still docked). He replied that her cabin was down low and that is actually better than being up high. She wanted to hear none of it and was adamant about being moved. He kept telling her the ship is full and there are no other cabins. She insisted her TA told her that all she would need to do was ask for an upgrade upon boarding the ship. He kept telling her no and if she was that unhappy with her cabin choice then she should have changed it at some point when she booked a year and a half ago.

She then threw out there "Well then what do I have to do about getting off the ship?!" To which he politely responded "Simply gather your things and walk off the gangway as we are still docked" while extending his left arm in the same direction. Well that threw her for a loop. Finally she realized that she wasn't going to get her way and left.

And no I wasn't being nosy, she made it a point that she wanted the attention. You would have had to be deaf in order not to know what was going on.

  4. often when you stand in line at guest services you get to heard the problems of the people in front of you, most of the time its small things and you can often feel sorry for the guest. sometimes you listen and you feel sorry for the guest service person ( the purser ) who is having to try to fix a complaint so crazy and outrageous you can't help but wonder if that guest crawled out from under a rock and onto a cruise ship.

If you have heard a complaint like this please share it here so we can all have a laugh

  5. I believe they change every 2 months, the assumption being that most people aren't on the same ship twice in 2 months

I believe the Dive-In Movies on deck change constantly; however according to our Fun Times on our March 27 cruise they were:

Day 1: "Comedy Night" Central Intelligence at 7:30 pm, Ghostbusters at 10:00 pm

Day 2: "Action & Adventure Night" The Magnificent Seven at 7:00 pm, Jason Bourne at 9:30 pm "Midnight Movie" Bad Moms at 12:00 am

Day 3: "Blockbuster Night" Suicide Squad at 7:30 pm, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them at 10:00 pm

Day 4: "Marvel Mania" Captain America: Civil War at 7:00 pm

Day 5: "Family Movie Time" Trolls at 7:30 pm, Moana at 9:30 pm

  6. First time I've seen that notice but that statement is to definitive. "Will" deactivate the card and the safe? No, it "may". In any event I'll keep using my cabin card since that is most convenient for me. If it does end up being deactivated I'll deal with it then.

with an electronics background, I know it Won't. the system simply reads the data on track 2 of the card as you swipe to lock then compares it the next time a card it swiped if a match it unlocks if not it doesn't, there is NO difference in the mag stripes on the room keys vs a credit card save for the data on it.

They may just have that there as a steward can easily get a replacement room key and if that's what is used then access the safe. ( not saying they will but they COULD. I agree the sale and sign card is the most convenient and something that generally ISNT left in the room.

  7. They say not to as it can demagnetize your card then you have to take a trip to GS when you can't get back into your cabin. Use an old gift card.

Would you rather it demagnetized your credit card instead. I just used my sail n sign card since you usually have that with you anyway.

  8. I'm curious....how did you manage to do all the nifty interviews and behind-the-scenes stuff? Were you working for Carnival, or a media outlet?

I run a blog called cruiseweek.Tv we have a great relationship with carnival and royal and they give us access on the ships to the crew and other areas. we also do a weekly live webshow where we bring on guests who are experts in their cruising field and let the viewers ask them questions. I started it quite by accident by being asked by my friends to record their 1st cruise. it kinda snowballed from there

  9. So, if I'm understanding your thread, Liz and Lucas only play together. Translation: Lucas does not do any solo shows or Liz does not do any solo shows.

We met Lucas on the Splendor last year and were VERY impressed with him. Even more so when we got home and looked him up on the music sites.

We are very fond of Lucas' original works and we think he will be really big some day.

right, did you see the interview i did with them?
