  1. I was just looking at this cruise today... the prices are amazing! Was trying to find out why so cheap!

They may be trying to get people on after the FEMA and upgrades. But RCCL has a ship in may down in San Juan thats similar price. So may just be the area need to be cheaper to get people there?

  2. So I am looking at taking a cruise out or PR on the Carnival Fascination, I read that it should be getting an overhaul in February. I am looking at the dates in May, Do you think it will be done by then? I have only Taken two cruises on NCL so this is my first look into Carnival and really don't want to end up on a really out dated ship.

    Thanks :)

  3. This may not help much, But I a aft for September 9th escape, Having the private balcony at the back of the ship seems like a much nicer way to enjoy some private time away from the crowds. The aft balconies on floor 9 appear to be very large, so it was a no brainier for me. Now I dont need to rush for vibe passes and can enjoy my own large area.

  4. I know that you are trying your hand at being amusing here but honestly it's not funny

I am sorry I did not mean to be disrespectful. This cruise is a big deal to me and I want to make sure me and my fiance are able to do the things we want, without things being shut down for a special group. I was just reading many of the horor stories about bars being closed off and resturants and just got worried. So again I am sorry.

  5. I will talk with the fiance about it. My cruise is the 9th to the 16th so hopefully we miss anyou bad weather!

I agree with those that have recommended flying in the day before. You can definitely get a hotel for the night plus a Uber/taxi to the port in the morning for less than $200. The peace of mind in not missing embarkation would be totally worth it to me!

When is your cruise? I'll be on Escape departing Sept. 30th

  6. I have looked at PDXC bur parking would be a pain. I have not checked FLL! need to do that. Thanks!

You are coming from so far away that the cost isn't worth missing your honeymoon cruise. Have you looked at surrounding airports? Often it is cheaper to fly into Ft. Lauderdale. Also, if you didn't mind leaving from PDX -- sure you had a bit of a drive, but you could get it going into FLL for $386 roundtrip pp -- would save you $100 pp -- pays for a cheap hotel near the port or FLL airport.

Have a great trip and congrats on your wedding!

  7. It's a 20 min cab ride to the ship...assuming your flight does get in at 10 am, but the time you get your bags, hop in a cab and get there, you will be PERFECTLY timed to get on that ship! Boarding usually starts around 11am.

As far as the "red eye" flight...I can't sleep on a plane, so I would be exhausted.....but saving the $300 would be worth it!

There will be folks who will tell you to come the day before...and usually, I agree, but it's not possible for everyone. If you're flight is on time, you are golden! You have until 90 mins prior to the ship leaving to board....just in case there is a small delay.

Thanks! Plenty of lay over time to catch the next plane so assuming nothing crazy I think I would be pretty on schedule. I personally have never been on a plane but I know I cannot sleep in a car, so I doubt a plane will be any different. Lots to think about.

  8. So to start I am on the west coast, I will be flying out of Eugene OR to Miami. My problem is im not so sure how the ship boarding works and worried about times. We are doing a honeymoon cruise and trying to keep a budget so we can afford some excursion. I was thinking about doing a red eye flight getting into MIA around 10am if it all works out correctly. Would that be enough time to make it to the ship? One thing I can do is use NCL to get a hotel and they have the shuttle but it adds about 300$ to our budget we did not plan for as of now. Flights are within dollars. Only benefit is that I would not be super tired when I board. Has any one done a red eye and got on board and still managed to not pass out ;p

  9. 9920 is an excellent choice. Or at least I'm hoping so. We're booked in that exact room at the end of June on the Escape! I'm sure I'll take some photos of the room while we're there, so stay tuned for a review post from me some time in July. Until then, enjoy the lead up to your wedding!

I look forward to the review! I am going to try and remember to check back then, But I have no doubts its a good room. according to the people on the phone 9324 has a smaller balcony to make up for the handicap one. hopefully the two of are right in our choice!

This year is going to be crazy for me I know that. Nervous and excited at the same time for so many things a strange feeling.

  10. So, you are right above the restaurants. This should not be a problem at night.

The aft facing rooms are a bit of a hike to the elevators, but it's not too bad.

Overall, you will enjoy the Escape. She's a beautiful ship. We have sailed on her twice. Have a great time!

Really hope that is the case. Im not to worried about walking to elevators I could probably use with some of that these days. Well I hope its not to bad It can be hard for me to fall asleep but once I am out nothing but a loud alarms can wake me. My parents go on NCL every year but have yet to go on the escape, nice to beat them to one of these for a change.

  11. Auto-correct was having some fun with you. :p

Deck 9 has the deepest aft-facing balconies on Escape. They differ slightly in width depending on the stateroom number but all are very good. The most narrow appears to be 9324.

The ship can feel crowded because people tend to congregate in the same areas and tend to travel in the same path. However, there are plenty of areas that people either don't know about or people don't hang out there. It's a good idea to use alternate routes to get from A to B to avoid crowds. For example, walking from Food Republic to Cagney's is crazy if trying to go through the center of the ship. A better route is to take the (nearly empty) Waterfront then zip back inside.

Its been forever since I have been on a cruise ship, about 13 years now :loudcry: But it was also smaller. I think it was the dawn or similar going to Alaska . But I am in room 9920 had them move me from the 13th floor., for fear of motion sickness. looks like I made a good choice then. And yes auto correct can be a pain

  12. So first post and new here so hope this is right!

So I booked a honey moon trip in September out of Florida on the Escape. I went and got an afternoon balcony on deck 9, but want to make sure this is the best floor for that! Also does the shiPhone ever feel super croweded or is it pretty nice?
