  1. I LOVE bringing photo memories home from the ship but the pictures they take on board are getting outrageously expensive and they aren’t the best quality. It also drives me crazy that they print them all and waste so many of them. So last week in Costa Maya we hired a local photographer to take on location photos for us. It only took an hour of our day and was much less than what I normally spend on the ship photos and way better quality. I think we’ll do this on our next cruise as well.

  2. We were on the jade in December. They had at the very least an outlet by the tv, one by the mirror area near the closet and one in the bathroom. They had USB ports next to the bed. Could be more but that’s all I can recall for sure. Enjoy your cruise!

  3. We had an incredible time touring with Carlos. He took us around Old San Juan, on a coastal drive, to a cave and to the rainforest. We also went for a lovely lunch. Carlos took wonderful pictures of all of the sites and emailed them to us the same day. His vehicle “Charlie” was very comfortable and fully stocked with drinks and snacks. I highly recommend touring with Carlos!

We were looking for a tour of Ponce which could include stopping at either a local disadvantaged school or orphanage where we might be able to drop off supplies or similar items? We have done this in other ports, but thought with our upcoming trip to Ponce, that we might be able to provide some minimal assistance during our time in port.

    Thanks

Hey ddaz! We were on the Panama Canal cruise together last December. When are you guys sailing to Puerto Rico? We just booked the other day. Doing the 10 day southern Caribbean out of San Juan January 2020.

  5. It does NOT happen on Norwegian cruise line. We love the freestyle cruising experience. We can eat in the dining rooms when we want. We don't have assigned dinner times or assigned seating. We always have a table to ourselves. I wouldn't like sitting at a table with strangers every night.

  6. Does anyone who cruised after Halloween through now have any additional information about the ferry, time allowed on shore, and excursions?

We're going to be there mid-February and would like to book some kind of non-NCL excursions and don't want to be left behind!

    Thanks for any additional information.

We were there mid December and took the ferry to Placencia. They give you a wrist band with a three hour time span written on it. We were on the first ferry over at 9am. It was about a 20 minute ride. Our return time was 12:30. They asked that people respected the return time they were given to ensure space on the return ferries. However they did say that you could return at a later time if you were taking a private tour. Several people scheduled for our return ferry stayed longer then the allotted time. The only issue would be that you may have to wait a little while for a seat on a return ferry. For instance if our wristband said 12:30 for our return but we didn't get back until 2:20 we may not have a seat on the 2:30 ferry back as those with 2:30 wristbands will be given first priority. We may have to wait for the next ferry and so on until there is space. They did also say that they've never left anyone there yet. And they run an extra unscheduled ferry at the end of the day for the crew and any stragglers left over. With that being said they do prefer that the majority of the people stick to the times given to help things run smoother. Hope this helps.

  7. We walked down the Main Street to captain jacks on the left side of the road. It was 35 dollars for 4 hours. There was also a rental place closer on the right side. I can't recall the name. But they were closed for some reason even though we were there during the "open" hours stayed on the door. Everyone at captain jacks was very friendly and they were worth the extra walk. They even gave us a ride back down to the pier when we were done with the golf cart.

  8. We are currently onboard the Norwegian Jade.We stopped in harvest caye yesterday. Once onboard we purchased the ferry tickets at the shore excursion desk and they were delivered to our room. We were on the first ferry over which left from the marina on harvest caye at 9am. The return time we were given was 12:30pm. They asked that we honor the times on the wrist bands in order to ensure space for everyone on the returning ferrys. If we wanted to return earlier we could as many of the early ferrys were dropping people off and returning to HC nearly empty. However, they did say of you had booked an independent tour and wouldn't be back at your assigned time you could take a later ferry back. But you may not be guaranteed a specific ferry time. For example if your return time on the wristband was 12:30 and you wanted to return on the 2:30 ferry, all those with 2:30 wristbands got priority. If there was space you could get on. If not you had to wait for the next one to see if they had room. They did say that they had never left anyone behind yet. Worse case scenario they sent one more boat at the end of the day for the stragglers if they had to. Bottom line is if you have a tour they understand you may need more than the allotted three

Hours and they will allow you to extend your time, however if not, it is much easier for them if you stick to your assigned time. We rented a golf cart for $35 and were able to drive all the way to the other end of the island and see everything. There is just one main road that goes all the way down so you can't get lost. We were able to do that and make shopping stops along the way and still made our original return time. Just a heads up all the shops here take American money but only give Belize currency in change. Also we found them to be more expensive than most other places. Wanting 17-20 dollars for tshirts. Shopping was actually cheaper on harvest caye. It was a nice relaxing day though and we would do it again. We returned with plenty of time left to shop and enjoy the pool and beach on harvest caye.

  9. I never advised them to disregard other cruisers feelings. I don't see how them wearing t-shirts to have pictures done (if that's what they want) should hurt anyone else's feelings or ruin anyone else's night. I never encouraged anyone to "think only of themselves." I simply said it that if they wanted to dress in tuxedo t-shirts and have family pictures done then I don't see why that should bother anyone else. They shouldn't worry about what other people think about their choice of clothing. I didn't say go to the MDR afterwards. I didn't suggest they go photobomb someone else's formal pictures with their t-shirts on and ruin their night. I didn't say to hell with everyone else. If other cruisers don't agree with their choice of clothing they should be capable of walking right on by them without letting it ruin their night. Just like when someone makes a comment or suggestion on the internet that you don't agree with you should be mature enough to scroll past it. This is a forum for people to help each other. Not to name call and criticize. But at least we can agree on one thing...this conversation doesn't need to continue.

  10. Nope, no over-reaction at all. People who come on these boards and tell everyone to do whatever they want, irregardless of how their actions affect others who are also trying to have a good time on THEIR vacation, need to be reminded that their advice is not appropriate. Due to the self-serving and selfishly inconsiderate nature of that advice, it is irresponsible and completely anti-social. It is much worse than just having poor taste.

We have all run into people on cruises who seem to think they are more important than the rest of us, and everyone else should mind their own business. Why encourage more of it on these boards?

Really? We are talking about wearing t-shirts. How does that affect anyone else? Is someone wearing t-shirts on formal night really going to ruin your vacation? It's not infringing on anyone else's rights or safety. I never said to hell with everyone else. Don't put words in my mouth. I also don't see how that advice was "barbaric" in anyway. Wow! Lighten up!
