  1. I haven't been to all of those ports, but I have been to two of them.

We had fun in San Juan venturing on our own. You can just walk around the city and see the fortress and historic areas. I recommend going to El Yunque if you have the chance, but I did not visit it on a cruise (seperate trip). I did not see any beaches near the port, so you'll probably have to spend money to get to them.

We walked around on our own at St. Thomas for a bit, and I didn't think it was anything special. We took a gondola ride that had a nice view, but that only took a very short time and costs money. The main attraction there IMO is the reefs/turtle sanctuary.

If you want to save some money you can look at independent excursions outside of the cruise line, they are generally cheaper than excursions through carnival.

  2. Hi everyone,

We are sailing on the Carnival Glory on May 6th, and we are trying to book our excursions ahead of time through independent providers.

We were really excited about the barrier reef in Belize, particularly the Hol Chan Reserve, but the independent excursions we tried to book said our ship leaves too early in the day (3 pm) to get to Hol Chan when you account for transport time from the boat to the shore.

I looked into the Carnival supplied excursions, but I don't know if they go to good reefs and the best looking one of them had lots of reviews complaining about overcrowding.

Are there any Belize reef excursions you all would recommend for us? Right now we are leaning toward going to Goff's Caye, but some people say the reef there is mediocre.
