  1. I mean this as my own personal opinion and not an indictment of anyone else's so please don't attack. I do understand that kids like some space and down time from parents and the "organized fun". However, I go on vacation with my children to be with my children. We spend so much of our daily lives split up between work, school, dance class, lacrosse, gymnastics, friends, etc that we relish this uninterrupted time together. My DD's are 17 and 12, so I will feel a bit more comfortable with them traveling around the ship together, but I definitely wouldn't be ok with my 12 year old being on her own with kids whose parents I don't know. Both have indicated that they are uninterested in the kids' club primarily because they would be split up due to age. That may change as the cruise progresses. My kids are well behaved and respectful, but even I'm not naive enough to believe that they are angels 100% when Mom and Dad aren't watching (long time middle school teacher!).

  2. Does the Safe Sea lotion really work or is that just a waste of money? I'm thinking we are going to have to hit a different beach (no water toys) if that is the case, because no way will I be able to keep my kids off of the trampoline, swing, etc.

  3. Thanks. I certainly didn't mean to imply that she's no longer a minor at 17. I guess the question should've been more location specific. Is a closed loop cruise out of san juan considered "out of the country'? If an adult doesn't need a passport (proper ID of course) to travel on this particular cruise, would you need permission for a minor? I don't need paperwork to fly to Puerto Rico, so was just curious if the closed loop had the same parameters.

  4. ok, so if this has been asked and answered I apologize in advance. Traveling with my 17 year old daughter on a closed loop caribbean cruise out of san juan. she will have a passport (her last name different than mine). Will I need the paperwork from my ex? Wasn't sure if her age makes it no longer a factor since she's considered a quasi adult (birth cert no longer enough).
