How interesting no fine print.  If there is no reference to OBC I am guessing none is involved.  Was it advertised as a free cruise?   Please keep us posted.  Thank you.

Hi, I posted the response from the PCC below.  With this type of offer, the PCC sends the invoice for $198 to the casino and they pay that portion.

Hi!  Thanks for posting this offer.  Would you mind sending a shot of the fine print including the Campaign Number?  Thanks.  Jim

The PCC finally figured it out.  I pay the port taxes and the PCC sends the balance $198 to the casino and they pay this amount.  The problem is I can't purchase any extra's until this is paid.

    Hi,

Yes, this is the offer.  The cruise I chose is listed on the offer list.  I will let you know what they tell me.

By what method was the offer received(mailer, online email)?  This is a new one charging $99.  Is there fine print anywhere?  When I booked my upcoming $200 per person, it stated on offer I would receive $200OBCpp.  My BOOKING CONFIRMATION also reflects this.

I received the offer by email, log into my account and this is what it is showing.  I also contacted the PCC and she said she is contacting the Casino to find out where the OBC is.  The confirmation (I have not paid yet) is not showing the OBC, still waiting for a reply from the PCC.  I searched for the fine print and do not see anything about receiving OBC.

  5. Well, I finally heard back after I sent another email and told her she was ruining the reputation of her agency by not responding to me.  I also copied customer service on that email.  She told me that is how it is and there is nothing they can do about it.  She said she would forward my email to her supervisor, but I have not heard anything from them and I don't expect to hear from them. We will never deal with this agency again no matter how great of a deal they offer. I will chalk this up to a lesson learned and will only deal with top name agencies who care about their business.  I will always get the full price in writing before I make any kind of deposit on the trip.

I will definitely write a Yelp review because people need to know what they are dealing with.

Thank you to everyone who responded, I really appreciate your thoughts.  This is not going to ruin my trip.  We will have an amazing time because Alaska is beautiful!!

  6. The TA emailed me back and of course she says she told me but I took very good notes as I was talking to her when I booked and there is nothing about extra.  this is what she said

"I am sorry there was a misunderstanding.  I did mention that the 3rd passenger will have a lower price for cruise fare, and that their air fare was full but discounted price.  Holland only gives air credit to passengers 1 and 2." So I responded back "Then why was this not included in the confirmation I received on Oct 25?"  I let a day go by and she did not respond so i sent the same message again and now 2 more days have gone by and still no response.  I think she is ignoring me now.  I am going to try to find someone higher up in the agency to email.

OP,  any progress on your TA making  your circumstance better?      Fingers crossed   they have done all else for your booking with no more er o rs.  Who knows what else they may have done about which you do not yet have knowledge?    I hope they do the right thing as to this pricing issue.  Good luck  and hopefully you'll be back to share good news.

I just sent the TA and email so I have everything in writing.  Will keep you posted.

It does sound like the agent is at fault.  When we making bookings for our clients, we book them directly in HAL's system and will send you a confirmation from HAL.  If this agent sent you something from HAL, then he/she did make the booking in their system and HAL changed the promo, but if the invoice is from the agency, then the agent made a mistake in the quote and should honor it.  When we make mistakes, we have to own it.  If HAL changes the price, then it's not up to us to correct their mistakes.

My original confirmation was from HAL.

Thank you everyone for your opinion on this issue.  Believe me this is not going to ruin my trip!

I"m sorry, I think this is ridiculous!  The OP was told what the cost was and accepted it.  If he/she was given an incorrect amount how the heck would he/she know?  There were three airfares on the confirmation.  We all know how different airfares can be with various booking agents, from day to day, even hour to hour.

Personally, I think Jammu2 is correct with their post above.  Split the cost difference.  It's not great but it's not worth fighting over $500, either, on a $50K deal.

The OP is part of a group booking and paid only for his cabin. He did not pay the whole $50,000 fares.

Maybe we should reverse the question. If the TA overcharged him by $550, would the OP smile and say that's OK, just keep the money or would the OP demand a refund?

You are correct there are 3 airfares on the confirmation and a total amount due less my deposit.

Yes I am only part of the group, I only pay my portion.

The question is who made the error.  If HAL's system was at fault, it's not the TA's fault that the price initially quoted was wrong.  If the TA gave an incorrect quote, then the TA should eat the mistake.

Which country are you from OP?  Which cruise did you book and was there some kind of promotion with free air involved?

We are in the US.  From what I understand, the agent booked everything and then when it went over to HAL it came back with additional airfare.  I believe this would have been the agents fault but not really sure.

OP,  Has your  TA  'seen the light'   and    acknowledged this is their error?  Hopefully they  thought a bout this issue and now recognize they have to make you whole.    It is just plain and simple good business to admit their error and open  their  checkbook.

Did you   ask them about errors and omissions insurance?         Unimaginea ble  to me they don't have coverage.  All by itself, that says a  ton bout them  IMO

I have not heard a word from the original agent that I spoke too.  I have not had a chance to do anything yet because of a death in the family.  I am not back and will look at my options.  I plan to call the original agent that booked our trip and see what she has to say about all of this.

Why wouldn't you know all the costs involved with booking a cruise? Do you always just pay out money without knowing expected costs?

I had a confirmation with the cost on it when I booked and 4 days later they sent me another confirmation with a new price.  The first confirmation included everything so that is the price I expected to pay.

  13. 1 hour ago, Homosassa said:

Why is the third person air add on so much higher?  Was it some type of promotion for passenger 1 & 2 that would not apply to the third passenger?

The trip included airfare, but now I find out the airfare is only for the 1st and 2nd passenger.  The TA never mentioned this when booking, I think she was so excited about $50K in sales she forgot and did not add it.  She only added the up charge that we needed to pay for the nonstop flights. They did admit the agent made the mistake and HA corrected it.

I am am going to check with a friend who is an attorney to see if I can file a claim against the TA. Also, I will send an email to someone in a higher position.

    Thanks for everyone’s help.

Sounds like the TA made a mistake at the beginning.  The TA should make some kind of an adjustment for his/her error.

    I wouldn't use them again.

They did make a mistake but told me there is nothing they can do about it.  They told me HA caught the mistake and sent it back to them.  I told them they should eat the mistake but she said they would not do that. Our group of 17 has spent over 50K with this TA and we will never use them again.

But, we will be on a trip of a lifetime and we will have a wonderful time regardless.  By June I won't ever remembered that the TA was terrible!!!

Did your original confirmation include air fare for the third person?

If it didn't, pay what you owe  or cancel the whole trip and rebook if you think you can get a better price.

To me I would say it includes airfare for all three passenger.  This is what my original confirmation looked like and then below is the new one they sent me.

  16. We booked an Alaska Land and Sea trip which included airfare, paid our deposit and received our confirmation through a TA.  Four days later I receive another confirmation and the price is now higher than the original.  They are trying to tell me that they made an error and the 3rd person in our room has to pay an additional amount for the airfare.  The original confirmation included an up-charge for the airfare we chose because of the flights we selected.  I am really upset about this because it is an additional $550.

My argument is that I am not allowed to change my trip once I pay my deposit, why are they allowed to change it?  Has this every happened to anyone and should I continue to fight it?

  17. Thanks, I will search for the report you are talking about.  Since this is probably the only time we will go I would like to see as much as we can in 9 days.

  18. Hi I hope I am posting in the correct place.  We are contemplating doing a 9 Day Yukon + Double Denali CruiseTour.  It is 3 days on a cruise and 6 days on land.  We have cruised many times and love it but have never been to Alaska.  Has anyone done this type of cruise/land tour in Alaska.  I have searched the forum and for some reason I can not find anything. I am hesitant because I am afraid I will be disappointing being on the ship only 3 nights.

Thank you I appreciate any input on this topic.

  19. I just booked the Dawn and am wondering if there is a thread like this already going. If there is please point me in the right direction. If not we will get one going here.

    Thank you everyone in advance

Bring an insulated cup. You can pour your drinks into it and the ice won’t melt so quickly in the heat. I had so many people comment on my yeti, I was really happy I brought it.

Breakfast in the dining room was so much better than the buffet.

Bring chair clips to hold your towel on your lounge chair. You can purchase really cheap on Amazon and you can always find you spot.

Have a great time and be patient waiting in line to get on and off the ship.
