I don't know the specifics of your travel policy of course, but I read on a trip insurance online merchant's webpage (the one that is frequently recommended on cruise critic) that to be eligible for a claim you have to have seen a doctor in person.

I'd think that would be a difficult hurdle, because I'm guessing for an only mildly ill Covid patient such as yourself the doctor won't want to see you in person. But of course check what your policy says. Maybe the "in person" thing doesn't apply with your policy.

Wouldn't the ship's medical center have a doctor who does the diagnosing?

  2. We sailed on the Dream last November with 2 teens (just turned 13 & 15). One used the sofa bed (I can't remember if it was always made up as a bed or not), and the younger used the bunk, which was always down & made up (she kept stuff up there, like a special pillow and other personal belongings, so that is probably why it was kept down). We had a cove balcony so we spent a lot of time out there. Our teens spent some of their in-cabin time on their beds, so that helped leave space for any of us walking through at any given time.

  3. The night before the cruise and I'm still waiting on socks and undies from the hubby...as always. I promise you one of these days he'll leave and not have any because I'll get tired of reminding him to pack them. But, for the most part, I managed to get all of our packing done in about a day. I'm a planner...this never happens...wish me luck that I didn't forget anything.

I'm only on page 13 so far, so I don't know if you've mentioned this or not--what brand is your luggage? Are they carry on size, or larger, full-size?

  4. Carnival's policy states:

"A small quantity of non-alcoholic beverages (i.e., sparkling water, sodas, juice, and milk) packaged in cans or cartons may be brought onboard on embarkation day and must be in the guest's carry-on luggage. A small quantity is considered a maximum of 12 sealed, unopened cans/cartons of 12 ounces each or less per person."

    The carton thing is irrelevant.

    Have a great cruise.

The "carton" means you can bring (non-alcoholic) beverages that come in a carton, like juice boxes, or boxed milk, etc. as long as it's 12 oz or less per carton. It does not refer to the box that a 12 pack comes in. It does not have to be in a can only...can or carton, no bottles. So the carton part is relevant.

  5. I recently got an upsell email offer to move from a cove balcony to a regular balcony. I just deleted, as we want the cove. I have no idea if I've gotten upsell phone calls, as I don't answer if I don't know the name/number. If it's important, they'll leave a message (they rarely do).

  6. Check your credit card and see if you were ever charged. I thought I bought one and the transaction wasn't on the credit card. On the other hand I was charged for a card I never received, but the transaction dropped off my credit card a couple of days later.

I had a confirmation email for the purchase. I called and they resent them. I have them now.

  7. I ordered 2 $100 Carnival e-cards through Drivewise on 7/31 and haven't received them. I've ordered several cards through the app in the past without a problem. I can't find anywhere on the app or site how to get these cards, if they sent them at all. Can't find any way to have them resent. Anyone know?

  8. I disagree. And I am a millennial. OP is def one. The assumption that a photo of a card is the same as a card. This isn't a lack of tech understanding, it's a lack of business understanding.

The entitlement that even though OP found himself in a situation where they couldn't pay the several thousand dollar bill they racked up but the threat of arrest for non payment was outrageous.

Just what is so "outrageous" about threatening arrest for a perceived attempt at theft of service. Cruise lines have to play hardball given their reasonable expectations that at least a few of the several-thousand passengers on a given itinerary would rip them off if at all possible.

I think the issue here is the way the sentence was written. If I'm right, then sanger meant:

The entitlement that OP found himself in a situation where they couldn't pay the several thousand dollar bill they racked up and yet thought the threat of arrest for non payment was unjustified was outrageous.

  9. I agree the loungers look gross!! The Soot from the funnel explanation doesn't make it any better.

    Not exaggerating in my opinion.

If you were to combine the 2 possibilities--sunscreen & soot, then that could explain those stains. It could be both--the soot sticks to the sunscreen.

  10. For the "use it or lose it" OBC I had to force myself to buy a few items in the shops. The items were either over priced or I just didn't want or need them. I ended up getting a watch and pair of earrings, but still left about $20 on the table. The rest was credited to our account, which paid for our pre flight hotel and parking.:D

I like having a credit when I leave the ship. Its just fun.

I haven't gotten to the end of the thread, and I don't know if this poster is still around, so if anyone else can answer this, please do:

How do you use a "use it or lose it" OBC on pre-flight hotel & parking? Seems like OBC would have to be used once you're on the ship, and not before? And I assume the credit Misty is referring to is OBC left over, not spent, and cannot be used on anything after disembarkation?

  11. Well, after 15 cruises, for the very first time I purchased trip insurance, mainly in case there are any medical issues. My husband are I are no longer spring chickens! Except for car, health, and home insurance, he is not the type to buy it. I didn't tell him, but if we end up needing it, it will be there, and I will have peace of mind regardless. Eight years ago, I went with the next higher tier for health insurance, rather than the lowest I had always gotten through my job. Three months later, I had a sudden lengthy illness with 4 months in the hospital (and that was just the first time...I ended up with 10 hospitalizations total). Just the hospital bill for the first 4 months was 1.2 million. Because of my health insurance, my out of pocket was $1,500.

You should tell him, in case anything happens to you, or else he won't know it's available to use.

  12. That is exactly what I wanted to know. I wasn't sure they would let us in about 9 and let us order just dessert.... I don't know everything, but I know where to find the people who do!! You guys are always so knowledgeable. Thank you;p

I don't know about letting you in at 9, but you should be able to go in at your scheduled late dining time and get just dessert.

  13. Sorry for confusion. It sounded good in my head....We don't want dinner at 8, but don't mind dessert at 9......

I'm still confused--where and when DO you plan to eat if you can't get your dining time changed? If you plan to eat elsewhere, you could still do that earlier and then go to the mdr at your late dining time & have WCMC.

  14. That is correct, they all link to Chuka

Different companies may book you to the place but there is only one rose Hall

And the excursion is great thru here.

    Safe travels.

I have been trying to find the one at Rose Hall, there are several zip lining excursions but none of them mention Rose Hall, any chance can you tell me where to find it or the name of that excursion/company?

It doesn't matter if you do it through Rose Hall or not, as they are not the ones doing the excursion. The excursion company does, which you can book through other channels.

  15. I think in your case there was no exchange of money or a contract. Holland America took my deposit 7 days ago. And i have a booking #

The customer thought that existing laws regarding false advertisement and pricing of products (this was in Michigan, which I think still requires a certain % of price tags on products--when I go up to visit family there I can't believe the price stickers on everything. Here we just have shelf tags for most products.) would require me to sell him the item at the price marked. I knew someone, him possibly, had switched tags.

And before anyone jumps on the "false advertising" bandwagon: by law an advertisement is not an offer of sale, just a solicitation for inquiry. And the lack of a "not responsible for typographical errors" disclaimer is meaningless; the idea that a business is legally obligated to match them if no disclaimer is an Urban Legend.

  16. They probably can. They can cancel any cruise, right?

Years ago I worked at a gas station/truck stop. Someone brought up a bottle of motor oil to the register. This was way back before scanning barcodes, at least at this location. I recognized immediately that it had the wrong price tag--it was much too low. I told the customer that it had the wrong price tag...he thought I would have to honor the price. I just told him I can't sell *this* oil, but he can go get another one. I put it on the shelf under the counter, and that was that.

  17. Is this a ship excursion? Then the 7 hours would include travel time to & from the park. Just wondering if OP is aware of that. If it includes travel time, then you'd likely have no more than 4 hours at the park.

  18. ...Stay at one of the multiple hotels that has free shuttle service (not only to DIsney but to all the Orlando attractions if not directly on Disney property) for 2-4 nights getting the flex tickets, then take 3-5 day cruise out of Cape Canaveral.

"The Orlando FlexTicket will not be available in 2017." https://www.undercovertourist.com/blog/orlando-flexticket/

Also just to be clear the flex ticket did not include the Disney parks.

Since when did Disney stop offering the multi-day flex park tickets over the multi-day single park ones? Or did they change back to being only available to just on property guests like it was in the late 80's & early 90's.

The Orlando Flex Ticket was just for Universal Studios parks & waterpark and Sea World & waterpark. It has drastically changed. Last I saw it did have an option for 2017 for 1 day at Disney, in combination with a couple of days at Universal and/or Seaworld. http://www.officialticketcenter.com/discount-flex-tickets-orlando.aspx

Maryred--you're thinking of the Disney multi-day tickets or perhaps the park hopper (which you can get with the 1 day or multi-day tickets).

  19. You can either bring a small collapsible cooler from home or just use the buckets that are used for beer from the bartender. Filled with ice, it can keep unopened cans nice and drinkable instead of poured over ice. The cooler from home is a better idea because then you can get two sodas on your way back to the cabin to enjoy that night and again in the morning.

Except they won't give you the full can with Bottomless Bubbles. Sure, you may find a bartender or 2 that might, but they aren't supposed to and you can't get upset if they say no.

And I don't think he (I got BB for my dh) will want to make sure to grab a can or three from the cabin and carry them around. At meals he's likely to drink 3 or more, for example.
