  1. We hit our 15th drink on the Monday of or last cruise. It was about midnight though, and we were pretty ready to call it a night. We had ordered a round at the Piano Bar and when the waitress dropped off the drink she let us know that it was 15...everyone cheered and we all had a good laugh.

I didn't try to order anything else, but I assume we were cut off at that point.

  2. They will run both cards at the same time, but since you're asking them to kind of flex the rules a bit (with one person signing both receipts) it's a good idea to tip a buck or so. Just my opinion.

Yea, we tipped at least a dollar on every receipt we signed. I think it usually made a big difference on the return trip. We had a great waiter on the lido Saturday that even handed us off to his replacement when he was done with his shift.

  3. We were on this same cruise and I had asked one of our assistant waiters if they get to go home for a while after the trip and he said no, they have to stay on and do other duties. I thought that was strange. Still wondering if that is true or not. Our assistant waiter was slightly creepy...lol. At times he would just come over and hang out in the corner near our table and try and participate in our conversation. That's totally fine usually, but there is a fine line when its too much. He crossed the line a few times. One time, asking my wife's brother if he was going to buy weed in Jamaica and then telling him how he can sneak it on board. Telling us how he drinks till 2am and gets up at 6 to work again. Etc. Sometimes interrupting our table conversation with these weird anecdotes...like, "Ok Omar, i guess we will talk about that now!" I think he was fond of a couple of the girls in our group.

Overall, i think he was just trying to relate, but it was awkward. I don't hold it against him at all, i think i would be a little awkward too if i worked his kind of schedule.

Otherwise, we found service to be above average. A few of the bartenders seemed off a few times...I asked for a different tequila in one of my drinks at the blue iguana and was told no, i wouldn't notice the difference anyway. He made up for it later, but i was a little taken back initially.

I loved the cruise director. I think it was the first cruise i had been on when i realized the difference a good cruise director could make.

  4. Dude, I want to cruise with you!!!

    :D

At a few points last Saturday we probably had a dozen or so drinks on the table, as we would just order a new round when he showed up with the last one. If our Yetis started to get empty, just pick one, throw it in and keep on groov'n....lol....

That day ended poorly for a few people. I managed to rally up, pack that evening and make it to dinner on time! My wife...well, she made it...at least in body. Spirit was definitely still in bed! haha...

We don't normally get down like that, but this was the last day of our honeymoon cruise, so we decided to sprint to the finish. Don't judge! haha :)

  5. Congratulations! I saw a few brides, bride/groom shirts, veils, etc. We were on Lido on all sea days too. I'd bet we saw each other at some point. My attempt to quit smoking failed as I found myself occasionally on deck 11 in comfy chairs meeting wonderful fellow cruisers while over looking the deck, people watching. Such fun! and dang wasn't it the hottest on the last sea day. It felt scorching .

I am wondering if you were the same group of girls we ran into on deck 11 on the first day. We were the large group up there with the big beer tube things. I know my wife (Kim) talked to someone named Meisha a few times...we ran into Meisha again in Cozumel at Mr. Sanchos on Friday.

Enjoying reading your review, and if it is you guys, it was so nice meeting you all. I also failed on my avoiding cigs...a few in our party smoke and when the drinks get flowing, we somehow always managed to migrate up to deck 11 for a few...

We managed to get one of the cabana things by the main pool on the last Saturday and held it pretty much from 10am to 5pm. We were able to stay out of the sun and keep our feet wet! We may have went a little overboard taking advantage of the Cheers program that day as many in our party never made it to dinner...lol...

  6. I thought i had to order individually, but found out about mid cruise that this wasn't really enforced. Toward the end, we had all of our cheers cards on the table at the cabana by the lido pool and 1 would regularly order for the whole group...sometimes 5 or 6 drinks at a time. As long as they have the folio numbers, you should be good to go.

I would often sign everyone's receipt too, if i was the one out of the pool and accepting the order.

  7. We were on deck 1 last week, checked our luggage through the ship, had zone 8 debarkation AND forgot a bag and had to go back and wait for them to deliver it out to us and we still made it in the car and on the road by 10am.

So if you did it yourself and really tried to get out early you could easily shave an hour or more off of that.

  8. We were on the same cruise as you guys. We had so much fun. Got married on Monday in the Limelight Lounge. Was definitely a bit windy a couple of the days, and a few in our party stayed with a pretty steady bout of nausea the whole time, but we made the most of it. I wonder if we ran into you guys at all. We were out and about quite a bit and had a pretty lively group. My liver and kidneys are definitely appreciating the break this week. We spent most sea days out by the Lido pool.

All in all, we had a great week and while we are glad to be home, miss it tremendously.

  9. I just got off the Breeze yesterday. Overall its a really nice ship. We just had an inside room, but it was sufficient. My only complaint was our bed was basically two twin beds pushed together and there was a gap in the center of the bed. My wife and I are that odd couple that still enjoys sleeping close to each other, so it made it a bit uncomfortable trying to negotiate the gap in the mattress. That, and the mattress was kinda hard in general.

Overall the ship, staff, and everything else was excellent. We did cheers, ate at the MDR, steakhouse, sushi and Italian restaurant and it was all decent to exceptional. The only thing I thought was not perfect was sushi, and that is just because I didn't order something I typically like (I let my wife order).

We got married onboard on Monday (technically a renewal of vows) and it was amazing. The photos were fantastic, albeit expensive...I never knew pictures could cost that much.

We had a great time, I am sitting at work today missing it tremendously.

  10. It's spring break for a lot of folks so maybe. Go to the website and just book it if you know for sure you want to do it. Why wait?

mostly because we are going with a group of 12 and I didn't want to cause the logistical hassle of paying for everyone and trying to get reimbursed. I just went ahead and did it though. It was only 5 per person to reserve.

  11. We leave Sunday on a 7 day and were planning on going to Mr. Sanchos again. I have usually booked before hand, but decided this time to just pay when we get there. Has anyone else done this? Am I taking a risk?

  12. I am an avid deep sea fisherman (or at least i pretend to be) and a few cruises ago we were heading out of Galveston on the second day of the cruise, probably close to 150NM off shore. There were a few big weed patches / lines which usually make for prime fishing. I was commenting on wishing i was out here fishing when i saw a Blue Marlin free jumping, chasing bait down the side of the weed patch! Was really beautiful to see. I think he made at least 3 big jumps.

  13. Wow, looks like i way under estimated people's pre planning!

Glad we got it booked regardless and I am super excited. The next 12 days are going to go by sooooo slow...and then of course the cruise will be gone before i blink twice :(

Ill try and post a review if i can, although i don't think I'm bringing a camera this time.

  14. Well, crisis averted. I got a reply back from Irena, the steakhouse manager. It looks like we are booked now for the 12th (which is a port day, but oh well) at 830pm. We at least got one of our requirements. Hopefully everyone won't be too worn out to attend.

The only sea day they could accommodate was the last Saturday...Apparently the Steakhouse is already prebooked two weeks out. That is surprising to me.

  15. Purely speculation on my part but I imagine 7:30 reservations are hard to come by for any sized group and especially a large one.

It's a small venue. I would be surprised if it seats more than 70 guests. They obviously hope to serve two settings each evening for a dinner that takes about two hours.

    6:00 and 6:30 reservations won't have finished by 7:30.

You might try e-mailing the maitre 'de asking when your group could be accommodated then you would have the choice to accept or decline.

Congratulations on your wedding. I can't think of a better place to celebrate than on the Breeze.

Good points. I guess the real frustration is very little interaction from, what i assume is the maitre 'de of the steak house. I explicitly said i would like a sea day, later than 530, first i get a suggestion for a date that happened almost 10 days ago...lol...then i get another suggestion for port days at 530. I am open to almost all other suggestions. Even port days at...7ish...that would be my last choice, but at least its close and shows that they are trying...you know?

Perhaps they are just already booked up? I guess if i was running a restaurant, i would LOVE to get a big reservation well in advance. Would make planning for that night so much easier.

Edit: Thank you for the congratulations btw! Steakhouse or no, we are going to have a blast. I just wanted to buy everyone a nice dinner as a thank you for coming with us to celebrate!

  16. Hey guys. Long time member here, but i completely forgot my username and password from before, so i created a new account. I have been on 7 cruises and am going on my 8th in a couple of weeks on the Carnival Breeze! So excited.

In the past few years i unfortunately went through a divorce, but am happy to say that through all the pain, uncertainty and personal growth, i managed to find my soulmate. It is never too late for that!

We had a quick, family only courthouse wedding in March and plan on doing an onboard ceremony on the Breeze with a group of our closest friends and family. She has never been on a cruise before, so i get the added bonus of introducing her to all the fun!

Ok...backstory aside...we wanted to book the steakhouse to treat all of our guests to a nice dinner, preferably on the day of our ceremony. I am having all sorts of trouble getting this done apparently. I figured if i reserved it this far out, it should be no problem getting accommodated...i was wrong. What makes it a bit more frustrating is that i get next to nothing in the responses from the Steakhouse staff. My original request for 14 on the Monday of our cruise was just flat denied and they suggested i book for March 17th...Well honey, its already March 28th...so thats obviously not going to work. I stressed that we would prefer 730 on a sea day. I got another canned response, completely ignoring my request again and the offer of 530 on one of our two port days. There is no way we are going to be able to go on an excursion all day, get back to the ship, dressed and to the steakhouse by 530...who eats dinner that early anyway? Ugh!

Trying not to get too frustrated, but I am kind of annoyed they aren't being a little more accommodating...at least offer some empathy or something in the replies. Not just the cut and paste canned stuff. We are spending a small fortune on drink packages, weddings, pictures, etc...cmon now! Im far from a demanding person, i am pretty flexible...but i feel like I'm dealing with a robot.

So...my question to the group is. Do you have any suggestions on how to get this done more efficiently? Should i wait to reserve it until we get onboard? Email or call someone else? Am i just stuck with what they offer?

Thanks! Glad to be back on cruise critic again!
