  1. We are on 8 forward on ours, no other balconies were left when we booked 14 months out. So I'm a tad concerned about that, I'll be packing Dramamine and sea bands for sure.

My husband also uses sea bands and ginger gum. I on the other hand do not get sea sick. We are on deck 12. Happy sailing. Freedom is a great ship and its crew is amazing and so is the food. ;)

  2. Love reading this! We are doing the transatlantic in October on Freedom and this is making me so jealous!!!

I have a favor if you find time friends of ours are going to be staying in cabin 1880 on Deck 12, they are concerned with the area as it looks to be off the health club and it's part of the newly added cabins, if you could could you possibly snap a few photos of the entrance to the cabins on 12 and the hallway near it??? It would make them stop freaking out about that part lol

We are in room 1808. Beautiful panoramic oceanview rooms. Floor is amazing. Very quiet. That being sad the rocking motion is awful as you are all the way upfront. This is my third TA and this one is by far the windiest and rockiest crossing I have experienced.

  3. Good morning from beautiful Freedom of the seas.

Since last night the winds have picked up and so has the rocking and rolling of the ship. If you see the following things, you know it's pretty bad

It is now close to 9 am and the ship is pretty quiet. Don't know where everyone is...

Round 2 of master chef is today, so I will be doing that at 10. Have a good day everyone!

We are on deck 12 in room 1808 panoramic oceanview on front of ship and we are rocking and rolling. My previous 2 TA were nothing like this. Still having fun though:D

  4. After reading ALL the negatives about Carnival on these boards I'm sometimes amazed that ANY of us would still book Carnival. Guess I'm glad I take things posted on this forum with a proverbial Grain of Salt. How do you react to all the negativity?

I am going on my 16th cruise and have cruised on Carnival, Celebrity, NCL, Princess and Royal Caribbean and all have been wonderful. ;)

  5. The rules have changed. I use to do the same think...slap a luggage tag on a case of water. It was easy, didn't have to schlep it. Now , in 2013 they told me to take it back to the car and when I tried again in 2014 the porter took it, but I got a note in my cabin that I could pick it up the last morning of the cruise. Now I always use a rolling backpack for water and soda. They like to take the water out and shake it.

Interesting in May 2014 out of Tampa we had no issue with the 24 pack water being dropped off with the luggage. I guess we will just carry it on :)

  6. I can't speak for anyone else's experience but we used Tyrone just this past Tuesday and everyone in our group felt this was the best tour of our entire cruise., Tyrone was friendly, personable and made very sure we enjoyed every part of our tour. He stopped for photos when and where ever we wished and allowed us plenty of time to snap all we wanted. He also provided plenty of beverages through out the day.

I would have no problem recommending him to a friend and certainly would use him again myself.

Glad to read you had a great tour with him. We are looking forward to our tour with him in November. I love Barbados so much to see on the island ;)

  7. check to make sure tyrone isn't going to hand you off to "John Wayne" with a larger van as he did us. the van's AC did not work, and the intercom didn't either. i saw that with another van too in july or august, so maybe same van, different driver? that's a problem, if tyrone continues to use this vehicle without getting it fixed.

I just purchased an intercom system for Tyrone and will bring it with me in November :)

  8. I have done this tour with Frank Taxi toursand Serenity tours and am now booked with Cosol for next month. On the first two tours we had a great time but everytime we saw Cosol's vans those people had more fun and more interaction with their driver. So we are very excited to go with Cosol this time around. The island tour is to die for and on Cosol's tour you get to go to Jalousie beach by the Pitons for one hour.

    Have fun...

  9. One of the Dept. stores in town had a jitney to their store. Some guys in native dress were there for photos and the store and merchandise were very nice. Then we started walking around and DH was waiting outside another store for me when a cab driver asked if we needed a ride or tour.

We paid $50 for the morning and went all around the area, very scenic, etc.

Others on the ship had made arrangements for a tour and went to a waterfall & hiking around, they liked that, too.

Try Googling Fiji and alot will come up.

    Have Fun,

    MaryAnn

PS We are going back this year and will go do the waterfalls. See, you think that will be in a 1-time place and you end up going 2x (or more !!). So always leave something to do -for next time.

Thank you for your reply and your input.

I did Google and Lonely Planet and Trip Advisor had great reviews about a company called Discover Fiji Tours http://www.discoverfijitours.com

There were other companies but they were operating out of other cities. We now have 10 people booked for the Jewel of Fiji and the maximum is 20 and I am sure we will fill this tour in no time. Cost is 120 Fiji dollars and leaves at 9AM and will be back at the pier at 4PM. We will go to the Navua riverbase and will visit a village and then to a waterfall by bamboo raft and motorised long boat. It should be fun.

  10. We will be in Suva, Fiji on November 4th. Does anyone have any recommendations on private tours in that area for island tours and/or resort day passes to Pacific Harbour etc, Catamaran tours? Thanks for any help. We are in port from 8AM to 5PM.

  11. I have been bidding on Priceline for the past 6 weeks for a resort and/or 3-* from $65 up to $135 and never got an offer ~ yesterday 12/31/2006 I checked out Hotwire and clicked on their 3-* for $134 (excl. taxes) and got the Sheraton ~ for $163 including taxes. Not bad ~ and Carnival docks right at pier #4 in front of the Sheraton eliminating taxi cost. ~ Els

  12. I hesitated coming back to this post but I must say that I am so glad I did. Uplifting to say the least.

And LittleBit - I do appreciate your comments - I love meeting and chatting with people both in person and online and Iwould hate to think they went away with a bad feeling just because a word I used.

And to the OP...sail away with the inlaws...

    Karen

Hi Karen ~ I am glad you came back ~ Els

  13. Oh give me a break. I have friends who are very obese, 300+ and he is 400+ and they use what you consider "normal" rooms and do just fine.

Have a blessed day and tell your friends to come along and enjoy every minute of their cruise, just as you do.

The OP was just asking a question. We do not know if the in-law is 5'4" and 350 lbs. or 6' and 300 lbs. Those bathrooms on some ships are pretty tiny.
