  1. I am planning a cruise to the Antartic in March 2023 on Viking Octantis.  When the ship arrives back at the end of the trip in Ushuaia, what time do the passengers get off the ship and get on the charter flight back to the EZE Airport? What time does the flight arrive at the EZE Airport? I am unable to get any information regarding this question.  I am wanting to make my own flight arrangments.  But, Viking Air is unable to answer any of my questions.  Thanks,

  2. I am curious about anyone who has gone to Iceland in the past two months on Viking. We will be traveling on Viking Jupiter at the end of August.  What time does Viking arrive at the port at the end of the cruise? What time can passengers get off the ship? It is about a 45 minute drive to the Airport.  We have a 10 am flight to Boston on the last day.  I am wondering what time the bus will get us to the airport and what the procedure is to getting to our flight on Delta that morning.  Can we check in at a kiosk and get our tickets and proceed to TSA? We will not have any luggage to check.  We use carry on luggage.  What about Covid?  Any testing when we get to airport? Or has it been done on the ship? I just want to make sure we have time to get to our flight.  Thanks, Jenny

  3. Just booked the 14 Day Grand Alaska Trip Northbound/Southbound trip starting and ending in Vancouver, Canada on Coral Princess.  Interested in hearing from everyone who has taken the trip. Excursions in each place to take/avoid? Which port can u just walk off ship and into town? Companies to take excursions with vs Princess excursions .  Any help would be great. How cold/warm will it be? Thanks

  4. Has anyone taken the Princess trip British Isles (Dublin Overnight)?  If so, when Princess docks, will there be buses, taxis waiting near the ship?  I have read that people are not allow to walk thru the port to the exit.   On this trip, Princess has buses, that u pay for, that will take you to Edinburgh and Glasgow and drop u off and pick u up in the afternoon.  I find it odd that Princess is not doing this for Dublin. Especially for a two day visit.  Or is it something you need to sign up for on the ship? Thanks, Jenny

  5. Princess will be in Dublin for two days.  We looked at Google Earth and noticed it is about a 50 minute walk from the ship to downtown Dublin.  Does anyone know if there will be taxis, buses, etc. waiting for people getting off the ship and taking them downtown Dublin and dropping them off? And the best way of getting back to the ship? Thanks, Jenny

  6. Crown Princess will be stopping in Dublin for two days on the trip British Isles (Dublin Overnight).  We looked at Google Earth and noticed it will be about a 50 minute walk from the ship to Downtown Dublin. When getting off the ship, does anyone know if there are taxis waiting for  people getting off the ship and driving them downtown?  Or buses? Or Hop On Hop Off buses? Rather than taking excursions that the ship offers, we prefer to do it on our own. Also, recommendations on what to see. Thanks, Jenny

  7. My husband and I went on a Princess Cruise last year to Norway.  They had three formal nights.  I wore a pair of black slacks and a blouse with some sparkles and flat shoes.  My husband wore a nice pair of slacks and a button down shirt.  No jacket or tie.  We had no problems.  We saw other people dressed like we were.

  8. Easy Answer - I did alot of study to get from Heathrow Airport to Southhampton 4 days before we set sail. I used English Rose Collection. They are excellent. They responded to my emails quickly. They were very detail as to where they will be at the airport. The driver was there when we got off the plane. He had water for us. He was professional. If you look at reviews on the web, you will find that the overall satisfaction is outstanding. I will use them again if I am in London again. They have a great web site. You pay up front with a credit card and will get a receipt. You will not be disappointed! Just tell them what you want and they will send you the information.

  9. Hi Jenny2121 - We were on a similar cruise on Holland America a few years ago and will be on the Sapphire Princess in June 2018. In most of the ports we wander off on our own. Skjolden was an exception where we took an excursion to see an old stave church. In Bergen, we never rode the cable car, but we did take the funicular to the hills above the city where there is a park and hiking trails and nice views if you have a clear day. You can buy funicular tickets at its station.

In the other ports, we just walk around taking in the sights. In Honnigsvag, lots of passengers head to the North Cape, but the view from there is water - it's not like there's any ice in the ocean at that location. You get a nice view of the North Cape as the ship is sailing by in the morning on the way to the port and in the afternoon as you leave. In Geiganger there's a hiking path along the right side of the stream you'll see from the ship. In Stavanger there's an oil and gas museum that addresses activities in the North Sea. Alesund is an interesting town to walk through with its art deco architecture and if you're ambitious, a hike up to Arkla and the iconic view of the city and surroundings. In Bergen it's interesting to visit the old Hanseatic part of the port to see the buildings and learn some of the history of the area. We enjoy Norway because it gets us away from Houston's heat and humidity.

Alot of great info. Stavanger, Trondheim,Alesund & Bergen appear to be places to walk around on our own. We enjoy doing things on our own, also. Geiranger by Zodiac looks fun. Princess is not giving us a lot of time in Bergen. Trying to figure out about Honningsvag,Tromso &Gravdal. First time on large ship. We prefer Viking and Grand Circle. Just got back from the Baltic Sea on Grand Circle. 89 passengers & 60 crew for 20 days. Feel free to send me any info that might be helpful. :)
  10. Depends on the cruise line. Last September on Princess, we arrived Southampton at 11:00am. Dropped luggage with waiting terminal porter at curbside. Went straight to 2nd level of terminal for immediate check-in. Waited till around 11:30am for priority security check and boarding the ship.

You can also post on the British Isles/Western Europe Port of Call for more response.

    Thank you for the information!

  11. Has anyone taken the Cruise Land of the Midnight Sun on Sapphire Princess?

The ports we will be stopping in are: Stavanger, Skjolden/Sognefjord,Hellesylt, Geiranger, Trondheim, Honningsvag, Tomso, Gravdal, Aalesund, Bergen. I know we are able to get off the ship and walk into Stavanger and Bergen. What are the other cities we are able to walk directly to? The cities we are not able to walk directly to, do you need a taxi, bus,?? Any suggestions regarding excursions? First time on a large ship. Thanks, Jenny

  12. Has anyone taken the Cruise "Land of the Midnight Sun" on Sapphire Princess? We are taking it next year. I would like to know specifics about the trip. I would like to know which stops that are made that you are able to get off the ship and walk directly into the city.Which stops that you must get on a bus to get into the city. What excursions that are offered do you feel were worth taking. I noticed that Bergen is a short visit. 7am - 2pm. Can you get off the ship and walk directly into Bergen or do you need a bus? First time on a large ship. Many thanks, Jenny

  13. First time I am traveling on a large ship. Arriving in Southampton England and returning to Heathrow Airport. What time can I expect to be off the ship and at the airport? How long does it take to get off the ship? Should I plan on departing from the airport in the afternoon to make the flight? Any information would be helpful. Thanks,:)

  14. Heading to Southampton from central London?

    Or Heathrow or Gatwick airports?

Makes a big difference to the choice of transportation.

HI on Herbert Walker Avenue is right alongside City Cruise Terminal.

But Princess sail out of Ocean Cruise Terminal and Mayflower Cruise Terminal.

There are a couple of hotels closer to Ocean, from HI it's vaguely walkable (about 20 minutes) depending on you, your luggage, and the weather.

There are also several closer to Mayflower, though with luggage very few would walk to Mayflower.

Here's the port schedule for this year, next year's won't be out til around Christmas.

    http://www.southamptonvts.co.uk/live_information/shipping_movements_and_cruise_ship_schedule/cruise_ship_schedule/

Here's a précis of most of the central Southampton hotels, together with a little thumbnail map showing those hotels, the rail & bus stations, and the cruise terminals.

    https://www.londontoolkit.com/travel/southampton_accommodation.htm

(lots of info about London and Southampton on other pages of that website)

Which hotel is best-located depends on your choice of transportation to Southampton, your cruise terminal, and whether you plan to spend your time in Southampton itself or to use Southampton as a base to explore other places such as Stonehenge, Salisbury, Bath, Winchester, Portsmouth, by public transport (train is best for all those places).

The good news is that any taxi journey in central Southampton is reasonably compact, many places are walkable, and a taxi will only cost £6 to £10. So if the central Southampton hotel you book isn't ideally located it's no big deal.

The Rugrats have linked you to the Britain forum. Lots of info on there.

    JB :)

We plan on staying in London for a few days. Then travel to Southampton 3 days before getting on the ship. Thank you for letting me know where Princess docks. I will start looking at hotels near that area. Plenty of time to look at the information everyone has sent.

  15. I am going on a Princess cruise. Rather than Princess telling me what amount to tip and add it to my account, I would prefer to tip the amount I want and to whom it will go to. When is the best time to inform Princess to take the amount of tipping off my account? Do I do it at the beginning or near the end of the trip?

  16. My husband and I will be sailing on Princess next year out of Southhampton. We would like to stay in Southampton for a couple of days before getting onto the ship. Can anyone suggest the best way of traveling from London to Southampton. There are many companies on the web. Buses? Private Car? Train?

Also, is the Holiday Inn Southampton within walking distance of the pier to get to our ship?

This will be our first time on a large ship. We have sailed on Viking and Grand Circle in the past.
