  1. Very excited to join the Silver Spirit on September 2, after having booked the trip with five friends over a year and a half ago.  We come from Seabourn, which we have thoroughly enjoyed, but thought we would give this line a try.  Pardon if this has been asked and answered, but is sunscreen provided? Also, we booked prior to the Door to Door option.  We are arriving in Athens three nights prior, one night being paid by SS, and transfers are included of course, but since we didn't book when this program was initiated, we would not be provided the limo service to the airport, correct?  We all live in suburban Atlanta, within 50 miles from the airport.  Oh, our return flights have already been cancelled, so I'm glad we allowed SS Air to handle the air arrangements.  Now its up to them to find six business class seats back to Atlanta this close to take off!  Anyone else on this voyage?

    TIA

    Sallie

Well, your itinerary will probably change anyway since it includes Turkey and the Dardanelles and I think they just shut down the Dardanelles. Turkey is too close to the Black Sea

That schedule is tight. Your flights have not been ticketed yet so my advice is to tell them that timeline is unacceptable given traffic in Athens and to come up with a slightly later flight, or suggest a flight to them.

People forget that those working in the offices maybe have only cruised a few times, are not familiar with airports/how long it takes etc. It would be fine in Fort Lauderdale but not in Athens. If you suggest an alternative flight and they have their contracted fare available, they will give it to you. If they don’t they will suggest another.

Good luck with your “Silversea TA.” People think they will get more attention going “direct” but the fact is those are inside sales people working on commission so closing the sale is the most important thing, not servicing the client. The worst experience we ever had was when we booked direct with cruiselines. We now have an excellent TA who knows how to work with them and most of the time gets us what we want.

Thank you so much for your reply. I recognize we have no way of knowing what will happen in six months, but I definitely want to get this issue resolved.

That sounds pretty tight. Especially if you are taking a bus and might have to wait for stragglers who have a later flight. There are too many people out there who have trouble showing up on time. The airport is at best an hour by bus in rush hour.

I think so as well. We are taking the transfers from SS. thanks for the reply!

Looks close and possibly not doable but have you considered staying over another night or two?

We are coming in three nights early, but will consider staying a night. But it seems to me they should recognize this wouldn’t work and put us on a flight that would work. Thanks for your reply.

  5. Can someone help with advice please? We are a group of six women traveling from Atlanta to Athens for the Sept. 2, 2022 voyage to Greece and Turkey.  Our return flight is booked for 11:10 am. Since we debark around 8 a.m., would this give us enough time to obtain our bags, go through the ships terminal, get into the transfer vehicle to travel to the Athens airport, and go through security at the airport?  We are all booked for business class.  I'm afraid if we miss the flight, Silversea will have a tough time finding six business flights the day of our return.  I have reached out to our Silversea TA, but have had no response.

    Hi,

my my friend and I took this pacific coastal last October and absolutely loved it.  The weather starting out in Vancouver can be a bit on the chilly side but continued t warm up The farther south you get.  We stayed two nights in Vancouver pre cruIse at the Westin and I would highly recommend for beautiful waterfront location, free bicycle rentals to easily peddle to Stanley Island, and withIn a 20 min. Walk to cruise port.  We bought a tour to Capilano Bridge and again it’s a do not miss, only $37 per person when includes bus and entrance fees from a nearby hotel stop.  In Seattle we went to the Chuilly Glass Museum and it was jaw dropping.  Then took the monorail to the end of the line, walked around town and then down to Pikes Market.  Weather was a bit chilly and damp, again dress in layers.  Lots of options but this is what we choose.  In Victoria we took the ships shuttle to downtown and outside the Fairmont Hotel is a kiosk where for $57 we purchased tickets and transportation to Buchart Gardens, another don’t miss spot.  Then coming back from town walked along the waterfront all the way back to the ship, a lovely stroll and even saw an otter in the bay.  In San Francisco so many options can’t list them all.  My friend and I walked for over 12 miles that day and covered a lot of territory including Fisherman’s Wharf, Pier 39 with its famous abundant seals, a cable car ride, Chinatown and much more.  In Monterey we opted to take a public bus (around $2 one way) very near the port to Big Sur, an almost magical place.  We went down to the beach, then strolled the lovely streets and all the shops, and followed a map to some adorable cottages that looked like they came back out of Hansel and Gretle.  Back to Monterey and walked along the waters edge with lots of frisky otters frolicking, I could have stayed there for hours.  In Santa Barbara we rented bicycles in the morning and explored and did a ships kayak excursion in the afternoon, all very enjoyable.  After I told my husband what a good time we had he as said he wants to do it with me this year, so we just might be on it again.  The California Gold Coast is truly priceless.  Hope this has been of some help.

Hi!  My friend and I are booked for this trip in October!  Thanks for your input!  Did you do any other of the ships excursions?  (FYI - We live in Suwanee/Johns Creek)!  Love Seabourn!!!

I’ll be sailing out of Barbados on the Oydessy in a week. Does anyone have experience on getting a suite change at check-in? We booked a veranda guarantee and were assigned suite 715...wheelchair access suite. I’ve noticed that there are still many unassigned suites in the same category or less. I called SB but they couldn’t make a change this close to sailing. I was thinking of asking about changing to non-wheelchair room, if avail, when we check-in...anyone have results doing this?

I realize that I took a chance when selecting a guarantee suite...so not a huge deal either way!

Where does one look to see which suites have been assigned/unassigned?  Many thanks!

  8. I thought I read weeks and weeks ago you had friends that had sailed Seabourn. I presumed they had told you about the referral so I didn't mention. I do hope you find one.

I too am a newbie, with my first sailing later this year. I am interested in the referral coupon, and I believe someone mentioned there being a "note" at the top where we could place our name requesting one. I'm unable to locate where I would need to go post it, so any further information regarding this issue would be greatly appreciated! Thx!! Sallie
