Thanks for the suggestions! We have a very compact umbrella double stroller that we are bringing and luckily the baby isn't picky at all!

Yeah, I'm not sure I'd address it beforehand - that seems like a sure fire way for someone to be put in an awkward situation. We do have a balcony suite, so I figured that would be a quick escape to the outdoors for a change of scenery. If she gets inconsolable, I'd likely walk her around the ship until she calms down, anyway, because we have a 3 yo, too. So she'll also need her sleep.

Thanks for the feedback! I feel a little better now. I'd definitely address it with the neighbors if she does have a tough night, the wine idea is a good one!

Hello everyone,
My husband, myself, our 3.5 yo and 8 mo are going on our first cruise in 2 weeks to Nassau and Freeport. I have read so much on here about what to bring and things to pack to make our lives easier, how and when to eat, etc. I am so grateful for all the advice! One thing that I haven't seen any posts on are crying babies. Our babe is pretty laid back, but she IS 8 months and does get cranky. I guess my question is, when we are in our room, are the walls so thin that our neighbors will be able to hear every whimper? Obviously we will do our best to keep her happy and calm, but I guess I would feel a little more at-ease if people won't even notice if our baby is having a meltdown. Thanks for the info in advance! Any other tips are totally appreciated!

Hi Everyone! We're cruising in 2 weeks on Carnival Liberty to Nassau and Freeport with our 2 young daughters. One is 3.5 and the other will be 9 months. Does anyone have any suggestions for packing items to make our lives easier? I've compiled my own list and also have done some reading around on various forums, but want to make sure I don't miss anything. This will be our first time cruising! Also any tips or tricks would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

To anyone following, we paid to expedite mine and the girls' last week and the status just changed today and they should b mailed by April 21. I would definitely recommend expediting them if you are still waiting. We finally got through to someone last week that told us without expediting ours, they would have been mailed by May 8, which would have been too late!!

Ok, so now my husband's status has changed for his and it says he should receive it by the 19th. Mine and the girls' are still just "being processed". Do renewals take less time than issuing first time passports? We are going to call and ask, but in the meantime, has anyone had a situation with a renewal and first times and did they come at different times? We mailed all the applications on the same day.

Since each application is it's own entity so to speak could you pay the expedited fee just for yours and use BC/Gov't ID for everyone else as a backup if theirs don't come in?
Yes, that's what I'm thinking we may do. I just worry that if something happens and we need to fly out of another country, I'd be the only one able to fly. :/

Have you gone online to check on the progress of your applications? that's where I would start. EM
Yes! It says that the passport is being processed and gives me a confirmation #. But that's all the info it gives.

We (myself, husband, and 2 daughters) applied for our passports mid-March. We cruise on May 5. Still waiting on them - when we applied they said processing time was about 4 weeks, but now online it's saying routine processing is 6-8 weeks. It would cost over $300 to put in "expedite requests" for all 4 of us! :( This upcoming Saturday will be the 4 week mark.
I know we can cruise with BC's and ID's, but I wasn't born in the U.S., and to apply for a new Consular Report of Birth Abroad for myself, the processing time is 4-6 weeks!! So I wouldn't even have time if I wanted to just sail with the BC and ID. I'm totally in a pickle now.
I mean, if we HAVE to, we'll pay the $300. Thought I'd reach out and see if anyone else has been in a similar situation and if anyone has any advice. I'm thinking I'll wait another week or so, and then if the status is still "processing", we'll go ahead and pay the $$ to get them expedited.
TIA!

Thank you, that's very reassuring! I'm hoping she'll let me relax a little ;)
