Why not just dine in formal attire and like it? Or does the attire of the unwashed masses and commoners have that much of an influence on the ability of others to enjoy their vacation?

Exactly. I always wonder the same thing when this issue comes up, as it often does. Maybe those who are getting in such a tiff about the dress code are just uptight fuddyduds who want to complain about everything.
Here's an idea: If you want to dress up, do so. If you don't, then don't. See how easy that was to solve?
I enjoy dressing up on formal nights but I couldn't care less if others do. After all, it's their vacation too.

But what the hey... who cares...
It's apparent that YOU do.

Same experience. This is one of the only (maybe the only) place I'd book the cruise's dive excursion again. In part because it's about the only way to get decent diving there; but also because the Hugh Parkey staff really did make it worth it. After your dives you go to there little island, and hang out at the shop/bar/restaurant. There certainly was no pressure to buy anything, but it's there if you want it.
It's also kind of cool when all the other passengers are lined up for tender boats to have the dive boat pull up and take the small number of divers off, and head in the opposite direction from the tender boats. :)

I have always booked excursions through the ship at this port for just those reasons.
Thanks for the info about the shopping opportunities.

When I did that same itinerary, we had time at the HP store before being taken back to the ship and I bought a T-shirt.
Perfect....thank you!

I'll be in Belize in February via the Caribbean Princess. I have booked my dives through the ship. From what I understand, the dive op (Hugh Parkey's) picks divers up directly from the ship, and returns us directly to the ship post-dives.
I always like to buy a dive t-shirt at the ports. With the Belize scenario described above, will I have an opportunity to do so?
My experience is that there is ALWAYS an opportunity to spend your money on a cruise, but I just want to be sure that I'll get a dive shirt.

I smuggle a lot. I generally have bourbon in the rocks, tequila shots, and bloody Marys. I bring the Bloody Mary mix in cans.
The cans are awesome. Just the right size. I even request that as my drink when flying. Yum!

To those who smuggle liquor onto a cruise, what do you do once on board? Drink it, I know. But with what? Do you buy sodas to use as mixers? Do you drink it straight?

If I am signed up for Anytime Dining on Princess, will they seat me with a group table or at a two-seater table by myself?

Thanks!

Water, tea, coffee, milk and lemonade. I haven't seen punch.
Thank you. :)

I just booked on the Caribbean Princess for a February cruise. What non-alcoholic drinks are free at the buffet?
On previous cruises on other lines, we had water, tea and fruit punch. Does Princess offer free fruit punch?

I'm doing a solo cruise in February. Is it rude to read a book or use my Kindle in the dining room at dinner?
-
Got it. Thanks, everyone!

Yes you can bring on soda pop. A 6 pack or even 12 pack will be welcome.
Awesome....thank you!
:)

I will be cruising on the Caribbean Princess in February for the first time. When cruising with other cruise lines, I have been allowed to bring a "reasonable" amount of soda on-board upon embarkation. (a six pack of Diet Mountain Dew, for example)
Does Princess allow this?

;)
yep
Someone earlier in the thread asked.

And here I thought it was something for Pirate Night... :p
Excellent idea, Kenswing...you could start a trend! Earning royalties might be an issue, but your Cruise Critic will support your claim.

Hehehe, dirty mind
I wasn't going there, Joey....LOL. Bad boy! :D

Yes. Sold as Transderm Scop. Little round bandaid that goes behind the ear. I get car sick on windy roads if I'm not the driver. You can imagine that I also get seasick quite easily. With the patch I never get sick even in very rough weather when people are staggering around the ship.
Prescription only in the US. I bought it over the counter in Vancouver, BC. However, given what I pay with my insurance it turned out not to be any cheaper to buy it in Vancouver. I did buy some anyway so I'm stocked for my next couple of cruises.
I would guess it's readily available over the counter in Mexico as well. Maybe I'll check when I'm there and see if it's cheaper.
You may want to be more specific, in the future, than just "my patch". ;)
-
Patch of what?
I would guess Scopolamine.

Some have said they are not comfortable being on the ocean, so far from land.
I hear this a lot too. I remind them that whether one is a mile off land or 500 miles off land, the result is the same.

Thanks, Musicguy!

On the Carnival Triump deck plans, there are steam and sauna rooms by the men's and women's locker rooms. Are the steam rooms and saunas co-ed or segregated by gender?

I'm going to go down the water slide on my cruise in November. I always say that I'll do it, but I always get distracted by the long line of whippersnappers. I'm going to practice being patient this year so that I can go down the water slide.
Speaking of patience, I purchased the FTTF for this cruise. That's a first.

Why would there be more applying now? Are you basing this on something?
I have a coworker who does this type of exaggeration quite often. We call her the Queen of Hyperbole. She seemingly pulls this kind of info out of her....well, you get the idea.
