  1. On Oasis 2 weeks ago the letter said that children were allowed during cocktail hour - I clarified with the DC before bringing my children in and he said they are allowed at any time as long as they are accompanied by an adult. It was not too busy that week and they were in kids club most of the week but did come in a few nights and played checkers. If it was too crowded, I would have used my vouchers elsewhere.

  2. How bad was the MDR, Tara?!?!?

We only went 2 nights and it was not due to bad service but nothing looking all that appealing on the menu! I know it is new and they are still working out some changes.

We should have done My time instead of early. We did early due to the kiddos but they wanted to eat in AO.

We also had a few longer than expected nights in the lounge...you know how that goes... [emoji13][emoji13][emoji13]

  3. Just off Oasis and was surprised to see the 2 levels as when we were on Allure in Feb - it was one and streaming was great. We went for the lower option - just surf and even just Facebook videos did not stream. We stuck with it but a difference for sure.

  4. In your shoes, I would book two connecting cabins. There are several combinations possible. Ocean view would probably be the most economical.

Dahling - I am booked in 2 boardwalk balconies for what would have been the same cost as 2 insides or 4 in an OV balcony! Wish you were coming with us!!!

I second the family ocean view - although the 2 bathrooms would be nice!

  5. We had my daughter that had turned 3 the week before the cruise and my son who was 5yr and 2 months on our last cruise and they had a great time! There were kids of all ages and my son gravitated towards and older kids and my daughter...well the older ones too! The activities were a blast and the kids still talk about it!

  6. Wow, thanks!! I was told by RCCL that 11100 and 11500 are the 'plum' rooms so this is good info. Do you know whether 11128 is bigger than 11132, or would they be the same? I have 11132, 11128 is not available.

We stayed in 11132 a few weeks ago and loved it!! Pretty sure that 11132 and 11128 are the same size. Our cabin steward had 11132 and 11128 and then all of the FOV at the front of the ship - they seemed a bit larger but have the slanted ceiling.

Not sure how many kids you have but we have 2 littles and one slept in the bottom bunk and other than the first night - our DS slept on the pull out couch. There is a nice thick curtain separating the seating area from the bed and one separating the bunks. We stayed in a FOV last year as well on Freedom and I thought the layout and the separation is better on Allure. Enjoy!!!

Freedom had 2 portholes...Allure had one. Just an FYI.

  7.

we found the 3 drinks on our sea pass were a nice alternative to looking at that huge, hideous, hateful Butcher. We played trivia with a nice drink in hand from the Schooner Bar before dinner and socialized with everyone.

I thought the bartender at the Schooner was great! I am drawing a blank on her name but addressed me every day by name and with a smile - was very nice!

The Diamond Lounge is something I enjoy, not for the concierge but for the atmosphere and a nice place to chat with people on such a large ship. I was bummed that he affected that experience for me. I should have not let it get to me but it did...

  8.

Gangway Style, we are sailing on Indy in just over 2 weeks. We are D+ but are in an OS as well. From your experience as well as others it sounds as though we should skip the DL and hang at the CL. It can be our drop in place. That sounds positive as we are literally steps away from it.

Everyone seems to rave about the CL concierge! My travel mate was D+ but I am only D so we did not have an option. Enjoy the trip!

  9. Aaaaaah ,,,,,,,,,,, Senor Butcher

    First impressions are just that.

Sailed with him for 3 weeks as DL concierge and my first impression was the same as the foregoing posters ............. but ............. if you actually talk to him you might have an entirely different perspective.

He is big and he is loud ......... and .................that alone can intimidate somewhat easily.

I compare Senor Butcher to a fine scotch ..................... nobody could actually like their first taste ................ however, with practice that perception changes mightily.

We chatted with him as well and he basically told me - enjoy the lounge while you can because pretty soon - you won't be allowed in here anymore as it will become the D+ lounge.

Sorry I am only lowly diamond Gustav but...no need to be rude to me about it! He definitely gravitates to D+ and Pinnacle.

  10. Dlong1969, I wish you had a more positive experience in relation to the negatives you encountered. I do want to ask you about skypeing home. Was the connection good, was it choppy or did you lose connection frequently. We are going to be sailing on Indy in just under a month and are used to the Oasis Class and it's fast internet. Sadly I will also use it for work.

    Thanks for your feedback.

It was TERRIBLE at the beginning of the week to the point that they gave D+ and extra day at the end of the week. It was not great after that but you could get on and surf around towards the end of the week. We were told that it was "fixed" and seemed that way as people could not get on at all early in the week.

It is so funny that you said that about The Quest. This was my third time to experience it and boy there were some very unique challenges. I was with newbies and kept telling them I had never seen these "quests" before. They loved it and I hadn't laughed that hard in a long time.

It was HYSTERICAL! I thought Ricky was dry but it worked for that Quest. I have never seen so much clothing tossed and the ballerina dancers! I was dying!

  11. Resurrecting an old thread because I just realized we'll be at exactly 140 nights after our soon-to-be-booked next cruise. Will we get the block on that sailing (12-night on Anthem), or will get it on whatever ship our next cruise is on?

Would love to have the Anthem one! Thanks for your help!

I hit 140 last week on Indy and it was on my bed one day when I came back to the room...was nice!!

  12. Thank you for the open and honest review....I understand there will be negatives to every cruise but it's also nice to hear the great reviews too. Not everyone will be happy...but any cruise is better than being at work for 9 hours a day!!!!!

Is there anything that is a don't miss on the ship? We will be on it in 3 1/2 days!!!!....can't wait!

    Thank you again!

I second Quest! It was different than the ones I had seen in the past - very unique challenges!

Deon at the pool bar was awesome!

Don - I agree with you on most of your points...To the point where the Diamond Concierge was offensive to me - I feel that tainted my week a bit and that was disappointing.

I will still take any day at sea over a day at work but just felt like the crew was eh...

  13. Oh yes, we went in the water and it's nice. The water at Coki Beach the day before was a little clearer but HH is good too.

    Thank you!!

Another trivia contest and another Silver Medal for the Clarea/Yorkvillain Unified Team. Today at 5pm was the Broadway Tunes trivia contest where 12 out of 15 was just not good enough once again. It's a race against the clock for any gold medal hopes as the closing ceremonies of the Oasis 09.05.15 Olympic Games take place on Friday night.

    CLAREA/YORKVILLAIN UNIFIED TEAM MEDAL COUNT

    0 Gold

    3 Silver

    0 Bronze

Is Merion Mom on that ship taking all the Gold from you guys?!?! :D:eek::D:eek:
