  1. I think that my problem is that I cannot stand for any length of time and the walk up to and off the ship is very taxing on my knees. I can probably manage walking on the ship ok.

    Thanks for everyone's wise advise.

How much do you usually tip for the wheelchair. $5, $10 or $20?

  2. My knees are in bad shape, and I was wondering how you would get a wheelchair at boarding to get up onto the ship? How would you get one to help me off the ship?

    Any advise is greatly appreciated.

    Thanks:D

  3. Someone suggested while on a Mexican Rivera cruise that you can get a cab and have them take you to a fresh seafood market, buy some seafood and bring you to a restaurant to cook it. Has anyone ever done this and did it come out OK?

  4. I am a senior also, and my DW and I really enjoy the eastern cruise. She enjoys shopping and I like to just walk around and people watch. We are not beach people anymore, too hot and don't need sunburn.

We are doing the western this year and so we will have a semi beach day at Labadee, but probably just shopping at Fairmouth and Cozumel.

Do either one, you can just look at the places you stop at from the ship and enjoy having the whole ship to yourself, very relaxing.

  5. We were on the Allure last year and on formal nights, we saw everything, from tux to tank tops, shorts and sandals. There really didn't seem to be any standard, and everyone dressed however they wanted. So don't stress it, go to the MDR on formal nights and enjoy yourselves, no matter how you are dressed. I found that you can ask your waiter what is the acceptable dress and they will tell you to come as you are.

  6. One thing I noticed was the the curbs at a lot of these places are very high and unlike other areas, there are few ramps, may be hard to move the wheelchairs up and down. Sidewalks tend to be very uneven, presents trip hazards. Sometimes sidewalks are also narrow with telephone poles blocking much of it.

I, myself, would rather stay aboard the ship and enjoy the quiet and just enjoy the views. You see much of the city from where you are on board the ship.

  7. I also enjoyed Cats. Saw it at a theater in SF and had to sit way back, and it was not too impressive, but on the ship, if you get there early enough, you can sit up close. My DW and I sat on the front roll and enjoyed every minute of it. Even got a picture with some of the cats when they came down to the audience. Nothing like watching a musical while sitting in $200 seats.

  8. I am glad you enjoyed the cruise, my DW and I are going on the upcoming one.

A couple of questions, was it easy to get to the supershuttle at LAX? Did you take it back to LAX, how was that experience?

Where is you eat dinner while at the Best Western?

We are doing this also and just want a little feedback.

    Thanks

  9. My DW and I are going on the Norwegian Jewel in April to Mexico. We have not been on Norwegian for a few years now. We got a free dinning package and wanted to know which night to go. I have searched the site and have not found a listing for the MDR menus, has anyone recently returned from that cruise and have menus that they can post? Thanks for any help provided.

  10. My wife and I just returned from the Oasis in September and we really enjoyed the show. This was the second time we saw it and I have to admit that this time was a lot better. Last time we went, we sat in the balcony, this time we got those prime front row seats, Wow what a different. The music was great and the dancing was excellent. Read up on the play before we went and had no problem enjoying the show. It is not too hard to understand.

If you are on a cruise and you have already paid for the show, why not go. Go with the mindset that you will enjoy it and you probably will. Go with the negative mindset and you will hate it and leave early.

I for one would not have wanted to miss it, it was the highlight of the cruise. I would have gone twice but ran out of time.:)

  11. My wife and I just got off the Oasis, and we got first row seats, wow! You know that in real life, you would never be able to afford front row seats. It made a lot of difference up close, you can see their facial expressions and can actually identify the different cats. They also did run next to us in the aisle and interacted with us.

There were kids in the front rows and they had lots of interaction with the cast, some of the cast even hug them. One of the little girls even when up to the stage at intermission and was doing the cat dance. She really enjoyed the show, smart parents to take them to the show.
