  1. We just booked Hong Kong to Tokyo for February. When booking excursions, there were a number that were sold out, with no option to waitlist. Is there any way to waitlist other than hoping for a cancellation once we are on board?

  2. Wow, 8:00 a.m. classes,🙃, or as DH just said, “no early morning coffee for you”.  On the plus side, if I’ve already pre paid, I’ve more incentive to actually attend. Thank you so much for the info.., much appreciated!

  3. I purchased the $99 fitness pass, but have no info as to what this means. Are there bookable classes? Do you need to sign up in advance, and is there usually space? How do you find out when and where? I’m thinking Pilates, yoga, strength, etc. We board the QV on Monday Jan 22 and have received advice that if I don’t sign up well ahead, may be out of luck, but cannot find a signup opportunity anywhere.

  4. We have been in Santa Teresa last few days. Took a local tour yesterday. We take taxis at night, walk everywhere during the day, have been met with kindness and courtesy everywhere. There are some wonderful artists in Santa Teresa, and some fabulous restaurants. There is a tram that tourists take from that goes up to Santa Teresa from the centre during the day... very picturesque.

  5. Right now it is absolutely pouring rain. Tomorrow is supposed to be better, so our fingers are crossed. We have booked a gastronomic tour thru Airbnb experiences for this afternoon, so restaurants, bars and the market, all indoors. Would love to visit the botanical gardens tomorrow, but only if dry.

  6. Unfortunately, Sugarloaf has been in cloud with limited visibility much of the time for the last couple of days. We keep an eye on it from our hotel window. Christ the Redeemer statue is even worse. My husband keeps running up to the roof with his camera, but so far no luck, it’s like the shroud of Turin up there.

  7. Just wanted to add that we took the public bus to Copacabana during the day ... no problems and a great view along the coast from Leblon. Our guide in Copacabana advised us to take a taxi back to our hotel, as it was after dark. We took her advice. So agree with previous poster, take reasonable precautions, and all will be well.

  8. If you are over 60 reduced entry fees for many attractions, including half price for Sugarloaf. Bring Id (photocopy of passport is fine.) We also found that fees are waived for such things as disembarkation taxes. Look for a symbol that shows a bent over old man with a cane, or ask.

  9. We spent 4 days in Rio in mid January. We stayed on the beach south of Leblon, and took a day tour on bikes through Copacabana, and hiked part of Sugar Mountain (both with a guide). At no time were we frightened or approached, except by other tourists who wanted to chat. We stayed out of community’s (favelas), and did not flash symbols of wealth. I enjoyed Rio immensely, and we are looking forward to a further 4 nights in the St Teresa area before boarding the Mariner on the 24th of Feb.
