  1. They did have jackets in the gift shop but they were more expensive than the ones you get in port. I think they were about $35 and sizes were limited. I bought 5 jackets for my family online from Tongass Trading for $19 before our cruise. With shipping they came out to $25. They are fleece lined and reversable with Alaska on both sides. Great souvenirs. The gift shop did have a deck sale on the ship our first sea day and a clearance sale on our last season day. I remember 2 for $20 tshirts. They also had sweatshirts, hats and gloves.

As for dinner, we did Anytime Dinning and it was 5:45pm - 9:30pm. Hope that helps. Have a great cruise!!!

  2. I have a few more trips (Hawaii and Europe) I'd like to do before I repeat Alaska but I WILL be going back. That trip is definitely at the top of my favorite vacations list. In the mean time, I'm going through my 1400 photos and my 48Gs of video. I plan to write a trip review with photos while the details are still fresh.

  3. My kids and I had a wonder time on the Carnival Legend August 1st - 8th. Since we returned, I find myself reading CC Trip Reviews, looking at port and bridge cameras, watching Alaska themed TV programs and showing my pictures to anyone who will look. What are you doing to come back to reality after your amazing Alaska adventure?

  4. Sorry your friend missed the glaciers. We took the small boat excursion in Tracy Arm and saw both North and South Sawyer Glaciers. We also did the 5 Glacier Floatplane excursion out of Juneau. They were both awesome and the weather was perfect. I want to see Glacier Bay on my next Alaska cruise

  5. "Pike Place Market is not quite what I thought. It is just an open-air market, that is very crowded. The vendors had a lot of produce and flowers. The fish looked very good. The one vendor that is known for throwing fish, does not continuously do that. They only throw fish whenever someone buys it. There is a large crowd butting in there to get a photo when they do the toss."

I was on the Legend August 1st - 8th. We stayed in Seattle a few days before the cruise. We stayed in the Hampton Inn near the Space Needle and walked to Pike Place. It was a nice day for a walk and it took about 30 minutes. I wanted to walk through the market but it was so crowded. I did get some video of the fish throwing. I had to use selfie stick with my Go Pro to get over the crowd. I agree that it was a let down. Wish I had gone to the Pier.

  6. LAYERS!!! It was cool in the morning so I wore a sweatshirt over a short sleeved shirt and cargo pants. But it quickly got to warm for the sweatshirt. We had lows in the mid 50s and highs in the upper 60s. On sea days I wore shorts and a tee shirt around the ship. The only day I wore a jacket was on the Tracy Arm Fjord small boat excursion to the glacier. I took rain gear and it never rained. Everyone kept telling us how lucky we were to have such great weather. I hope you have good weather too but even if you don't you'll enjoy it. The scenery is breathtaking.

  7. I just got back on Tuesday, August 8th. The Legend was much better than some of the reviews I read but I agree that the decor is strange and a little dark. There were plenty of places to eat with a variety of food. I really enjoyed Nancy the on board naturalist and Jen the cruise director. We had beautiful weather. My only complaint is that the windows needed cleaning. Not just the ones in public areas. Our balcony windows were also dirty. Make sure you download the Carnival Hub App. It was very useful. We had a great time.

  8. I'm an Alabama girl sailing August 1st. I posted a similar question in another thread. I'm taking the 5 Glacier Flight seeing Excursion out of Juneau and would love to see snowcapped peaks.

  9. I'm taking the 5 Glacier Seaplane excursion in August. I'm really looking forward to it. Hope the weather is good. How much snow is left on the mountain tops in August? All the videos I've seen were done earlier in the season when there's still snow everywhere.

  10. I leave for 4 days in Seattle on June 28th before boarding the Carnival Legend. I'm going to get my suitcase out next week so I can start putting a few things in it. I'm taking shorts, sweatpants, jeans, long and short sleeve shirts, a hoodie and rain gear. I'm an overpacker.

  11. We cruise in August on a round trip from Seattle. I started researching cruises, flights and hotels last year so I could make a budget. I didn't discover this board until after I made my down payment and I've been reading it everyday since then. I've bought items for the trip after reading comments from people who have already cruised. I LOVE the trip reviews and I also watch YouTube videos of the excursions I've booked. After all that, I still feel a little unprepared but that's just me.

  12. I have a Nikon D3200 with 24MP, an 18 - 55 lens and a 70 - 300 zoom lens. I plan to wear cargo pants to slip the lens in when I'm changing them out. I'm getting a knock off Go Pro from Amazon for my son to use when we go zip lining and for the seaplane glacier excursion. I'm debating getting a small point and shoot to slip in my pocket to carry around the ship. That Nikon gets heavy.

  13. Are these worth buying now and having them shipped? My cruise isn't until August and Ketchikan is our last stop. It would be nice to have the jacket to use on the cruise. I'm debating ordering some as souvenirs and having them shipped instead of trying to pack them on the plane.

  14. I have been watching everything Alaska for three years. PBS has a show called Wild Photo Adventures that did a three part series on Alaska. The Science Channel had a show called Alaska Mega Machines that was interesting. But my favorite is Buying Alaska and I watch Railroad Alaska sometimes. I use to love Ice Road Truckers but every other word had to be beeped out.
